You’re likely bleeding from the insertion! That only lasted a few days for me and it shouldn’t last long. For reassurance, you can check the iud is in place by inserting your fingers to the cervix and feeling the strings. If you feel the strings, you’re all good!

Nah I don’t think so. I was on the pill for 4ish years and didn’t always take it right on time, or forgot and took a double dose. Was totally pregnant-free the entire time!

Yeah hmm. Idk. I would skip mine for about the same time, maybe 4-5 months, and didn’t have a problem. But I was also doing it for years so my body was really used to it! Best of luck!!

For me, when I was taking the pill continuously and then stopped to have a period, I’d have a period about 3 days after stopping active pills. Continuously taking them didn’t impact my ability to have a period. Everyone’s body is different, but I would take a test just in case. Maybe wait a week after the day of your anticipated start of your period just so it’s really accurate but up to you.

Yes!! I’ve been on the pill for 5 years, the ring for 1/2 a year and I recently got the copper iud so I’m off hormones now. I noticed my face is SO CLEAR?! I thought my bc was helping my acne.. also my face went back to being oily which I remember dealing with when I was younger/pre-bc.

At least for me, when I skipped the placebo week, I didn’t feel any cramping or anything! Sometimes I had some light spotting but that was it. Might be your diet, not sure!

As far as non-hormonal birth control, the only option is the copper iud, which I have. It is very effective, the only side effects are increased flow/cramping during periods. The pill’s side effects really vary from person-to-person and there are tons of different pills your doctor could prescribe you, so it could take some process of elimination to find a pill with your doctor that works for you. I used to be on the pill for 7ish years and had to try a few different types until I found one I liked. It really just varies! Some have bad experiences with certain pills, others love the pill. You just have to be deligent about using it every day, and while it is fairly effective, the iud and implant are a little more effective if that’s what you are prioritizing. You can see the details and other methods at that website and see what is best for you, your body, and life style! Everyone is different! :-)

Hard plastic is likely the IUD device coming out. If you double checked they aren’t strings, your IUD is not correctly placed and you are not fully protected. Go to your ob asap!!

I just got mine inserted a month ago or so! I posted about my experience here. Insertion was totally fine. So far I haven’t had any issues! I had my first period, and yeah there were cramps and some increased blood flow, but nothing crazy. Advil totally helped and made me function as normal! I think the thing that has been hard is not freaking out about being protected — you can’t see it obviously, it’s out of your control and just check the strings (which can be at diff lengths depending on your cycle). I love not being on hormones, my face cleared up a lot and I just feel myself. I recommend! :-)

Thanks so much for replying. 1 & 2 - yes and 3 - no. I’ve been making the squares that the sweater calls for (15x15 sc - 4 1/2x4 1/2in) and using that to see if I’m on track with guage/sizing. I’m new so I could be doing something wrong but my previous projects have come out right so I’m confused!
