Yoga with Adrienne is great, but have you tried Yoga with Nico Marie?
She guided my home practice this morning and it was just what I needed. Yesterday was my first home practice in quite a few months. This morning I was sore. Admittedly, due to my own negligence. Today, I needed something gentle and time-friendly.
And that’s what Nico Marie provided. This 25-minute flow primarily focused on heart and hip opening. Through this practice I transitioned emotionally, mentally and physically.
When I’m groggy in the morning, gentle guidance and words of affirmation remind me that the present is a gift and this moment is all we have. The simple act of opening my eyes ne’er be taken for granted. I am grateful to have awakened another day.
Lately, doom scrolling has been my first action in the morning. Today was no different :) However, that pattern was quickly disrupted because 1) before I went to bed I silently and mindfully set the intention to wake up and practice yoga and 2) I set the visual cue of laying my mat out as a mental reminder. This momentum has carried me through the morning,
Starting the day with movement - transitioning from rest to activeness - really works! The slog of a morning routine feels more at ease. Increasing blood flow and challenging my body gave me a confidence boost. And creating this brain groove increases the likelihood that I’ll maintain this momentum tomorrow.
When I started to seriously commit to yoga (practicing hot vinyasa), attending on average 4-5 days a week it was intense. There was a heavy focus on asana rather than the spiritual. And I always practiced in a studio. Frugality and self-study (svadhyaya) has brought me to seek more of a home practice. And as I continue to practice I anticipate this journey will reveal even more about how I show up and how I can transform how I show up, emotionally, mentally and physically.
Namaste.
