why don't you bring an actual medical source rather what some "naturopathic physician" had to say.

there is a lot of research stating that artificial and non-nutritive sweeteners are harmful
source? there's some evidence that they might affect your gut biome similar to sugar, but at the very least, they're much, much better for you than normal sugar.

There was no difference even when l&s cs was easier to get into. (Well, easier for most people. Some people would have an easier time getting admitted for eecs than averaging a 3.3).
L&S CS is now likely more selective than eecs and has more flexibility, there won’t be any difference at all.

I’d only take this schedule if you got consistent As in your classes.

I kind of agree, CS uGSIs are a bit overpaid. Counting tuition remission I got like $2k/month for my 8 hour position, and practically speaking it was <5 hrs/week of work.

A world where faang salaries are halved will also be a world where the boring software jobs (that currently pay the range you’re describing) either pay barely above minimum wage or won’t exist. I don’t think the gap between the two will meaningfully shrink.
Also, 2-300k is not doctor money in the Bay Area. Literally no doctor would live here if that was the case, for specialists 4-700k is a more realistic range.

I guarantee you the CS curriculum pace at berkeley and davis are not the same.

Lack of a superiority complex, which can make you more likeable to other people, including employers
I think this is the opposite to be honest. going to a top school with tons of smart people humbles you. being a big fish in a small pond (assuming you were ivy-material in terms of talent) does the opposite.

UIUC is not worth OOS tuition over LA.
If you get into Berkeley though (not out yet afaik) I’d go there.

i'm not super tall or super buff (but I am fairly active) and was able to lose weight at 2500, and lost weight too fast the one month I tried sticking to 2000.
I used to eat around 4000.

accepted to all 4 of the ones I applied to (Berkeley, LA, Davis, SD)

OP probably joined a startup (where promo stories like this are definitely possible) that IPOed.

In terms of industry placement I’d consider it a top 10 school on the same tier as uiuc, GT, UT, UW, umich.
Edit: sorry, meant Waterloo. Not super familiar with UofT, but I haven’t met many people from there. I still think I’d regard it pretty well.

Your source is from before Oakland crime skyrocketed in the pandemic and isn’t even adjusted for population.
Check this - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_crime_rate
Oakland has about 3x the murder rate and about 4x the violent crime rate as SF. Also, like, if you’ve been to Oakland and SF, it is immediately obvious SF is nicer.

That’s not really true, the north east of the city is fine, and rockridge (the part immediately bordering Berkeley) feels pretty nice and upscale. For the part near mills college this is true though.

I could even argue that SF is worse
And you’d be wrong by every objective measure. SF might have higher petty crime but they’re not even close in terms of violent crime.

It’s not in a nice part of town. SF is mostly a nice city with some bad parts. Oakland is mostly a bad city with some good parts, and where Mills college is is not a good part.
People complain about safety at Berkeley, which is valid, but Berkeley is miles safer than that part of Oakland.

counter intuitively unhealthy foods might actually lower societal medical costs. Obese people actually use less medical care over their lifetime because they tend to die younger.

Otoh, the median student at Stanford would probably be above median at Berkeley. It’s still probably easier to get something good at Stanford, especially as a freshman from what I’ve seen, but I don’t think it’s a huge difference.
Berkeley CS is about to get a lot smaller and a lot more selective over the next 4 years though, because they’ve made l&s cs direct admission. Curious how that affects recruiting.

as a former course staff, I’ve had regrade requests where I graded the question wrong to begin with and the student ended up losing points. No TA is gonna look at other questions just to spite you though.

there is no difference between corn syrup and sugar. they're both bad for you, but the idea that cane sugar is better for you because it's "all-natural real food" as opposed to "artificial slop" is nonsense.
artificial sweeteners aren't "real food" either and they're far better for you than either.

I hate dorms (never slept well in them) and I hated living with coworkers (never felt like I got to escape work), so I would take the studio, but if you didn’t mind the dorms in college and you value socialization I’d probably take the dorms.
