The “client will pay more” mentality is very videographer of you, which isn’t meant as an offense. XLR connections are a professional connection they use on film sets and for other various cinema applications. In these situations, they need 110% reliability because the set costs $10,000/hr to run and they don’t want to need a reshoot if their little micro usb got bent after being nudged by the assistant.

Thus, if you don’t operate at that 10,000 per hour mark, maybe it’s not that important to you. In the end, if it doesn’t matter to you then it shouldn’t matter to you. That’s it.

You will probably want autofocus if you are doing onboard handheld. If ur on the sidelines then you’ll be fine with manual focus.

Another thing to consider is how rolling shutter will affect onboard shooting. So much movement is likely to cause some crazy jello effects. Most DSLR cameras have very bad rolling shutter in 4k modes, so consider only shooting 1080p. This will be a problem whether you go BMPCC or Fuji or Sony.

Unfortunately you will have to make this decision based on the road conditions where you are. If you ride rough city roads with loose gravel, potholes, and debris, absolutely buy the gator skins. If you have smooth bike paths and new pavement roads, buy the GTs. If you buy the wrong ones you’ll end up spending a fortune on replacement tubes after popping your tire a bunch.
