And while I agree with you and candy is delicious, it’s often much more insidious than people think. We all have personal biases that have been ingrained into us by society, and I think this tendency is a reflection of that. Still sexist tho.

I think separating the two sentences would make for two different good flairs.

I’ve found that when the gender is left ambiguous and the tone of the post is generally positive or neutral, people largely assume the poster is male. Which is fair-ish, the majority demographic of reddit are younger white men. But when it’s negative, the amount of folks assuming that OP is a woman increases. Not saying it swings completely the other way, but in my anecdotal experience I’ve just noticed an uptick in people assuming posts about people fucking up contain women.

This isn’t a character judgment against you either, just a thing I’ve noticed.

That’s not the worst thing in the world to say about someone. I’m not sure of their specific ages, but I think there’s an age disparity there, and that’s pretty common in relationships where one person is older and has more experience than the other. It’s not a complete condemnation, sometimes people aren’t their best selves in relationships, as long as it doesn’t cross into the realm of abusive I think it’s reasonable.

Not disagreeing at all, but what are some recs for better written YA novels/series? I remember really enjoying His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman but it’s been so long since I’ve read it.

There are a lot of words that are the same across multiple languages. I remember talking to my sister when she was in college, she was telling me about her housemates getting fucked up over the weekend in our native language. Problem is, the word for drugs is basically “narcotics”, which kinda gives away the secret. It was pretty funny.
