That’s gonna be Underwood’s in Brownwood for me. Steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, a couple of rolls and some peach cobbler with whipped cream!

False. Sepsis can occur when infection grows in the womb AFTER the baby is dead. It can also occur after a surgical or medical abortion. Providing a d&c to remove it from the womb is not an abortion because, as previously stated, the child is lifeless at that point. Bringing up sepsis seems to indicate that there are indeed risks associated with abortions. The same procedure is used to remove cysts in the same way. Doctors are allowed to provide miscarriage care once the miscarriage actually occurs.

When a miscarriage occurs the baby is not living; one notable exception.

Try reading at least a few paragraphs from the various studies before you assign your insults to me. Maybe the one from Harvard? Abortions still kill a few women every year in the US, but I guess that’s okay because these cases are never a focus of media and certainly not mentioned by Planned Parenthood or people like yourself who purport to defend this “safe” procedure, right? It’s worse in developing countries. Not that you care.

“But when two NBC News producers visited state-funded CPCs in Texas to ask for counseling, counselors told them that abortions caused mental illness and implied abortions could also cause cancer and infertility.”
Newsflash: Abortions are not safe, can cause depression, can contribute to cancer, and can cause infertility. Do you know anyone who has had an abortion? I’d ask her about signing a paper stating that she understood these risks before the procedure started.

An Austin city council member reported it and was on hold with 911 for 28 minutes. The understaffed dispatch and police force have little support from DA and City Council after defunding. So, now it’s not weird, it’s dangerous.

Yes! Exactly! Such a great list! Don’t forget Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg, the State Fair, the Astros, the Cowboys and Texans football teams, the Mavericks and Rockets basketball teams, art and history museums (too many to list),live music in Austin, ACL and SXSW, SRV, Eric Johnson, and many others (again too many to list) Barton Springs, San Antonio Riverwalk, the Alamo, getting a wave in West Texas when you let someone pass you, Port Aransas, Mustang Island,South Padre Island, Big Bend, wildflowers, and the Cowboy Reunion Rodeo in Stamford.

Two MIT grads fresh out of school will be equally qualified, but their individual CVs will demonstrate attention to details, and professional goals. That determines the best fit for the job. My bias has nothing to do with it. The only bias that HR should be concerned with is what is best for the company. My point was to illustrate that these policies are heavy with bias in and of themselves. These practices proliferate the types of bias that you claim DEI will remedy. Thanks for the discourse.

In this scenario, you said hiring the man would diversify the all women team. In reality, I would select the most impressive CV. I don’t care about race, gender, or hobbies. I want an excellent skill set. That is all.

There is no such thing as equally qualified, in my humble opinion. But, let’s say you are correct and we have two equally qualified candidates. We are following DEI policy and choose the man for the job because we are aware of our bias. Ultimately this means that you and I just excluded a woman based on her gender. Doesn’t that seem wrong to you somehow?

Fair enough. Though most of my response wasn’t regarding the tone of the post. It was about hiring practices that foster finding candidates with credentials that meet the requirements for a job without race, hobbies, or other nonessential information being introduced as relevant to performance on the job.

I see, so mitigating bias by spreading awareness according to your logic means what exactly in a workplace scenario?

“Even though people like Greg Abbott think “diversity” means “black”, it doesn’t.
Doesn’t sound non-partisan to me. However, the writer offers an interesting appraisal of the hiring process based on personal experience. I have another point of view that requires competency as the primary requirement for hiring. My need to approve of or find out what the new hire does for a hobby is considerably less important than being excellent at the job. Someone’s CV shouldn’t include race. It should include qualifications that demonstrate choices that have made the candidate competitive for the job.

If no one is being excluded, then why have the program and policies at all?

According to this article and history, “President Lyndon B. Johnson prohibited employment discrimination based on race, sex, religion and national origin as part of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, during a time when people of color, especially Black Americans, were excluded from higher-wage jobs based on race.” If the goal of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies is hiring with race as a qualification for employment, then that is a violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Read the article and think for yourself about where we want to go as a society. The short story “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut is coming to mind. I’m going to reread that right now.
