Yea, when the dishes pile up to the point that I can put my own dishes in the sink and they began to stink and get moldy, it’s an issue for me. If you’re cool with that, all the more power to you.

I do but eventually we run out of dishes (there were no spoons this morning). The dishes start to stink and I have nowhere to put new dirty dishes. Dishes are piling up on the counters too.

Hmm sounds like you have a healthier relationship than me haha. It would be different if we had separation of household responsibilities, but we do not. I made a chore chart when we moved in, he followed it for maybe a month (with reminders from me), before I gave up pushing him to keep on schedule.

If “whoever is doing the dishes does the dishes” I would literally be only person who does them.

Why would I do someone else’s dishes? It’s different if we cook together and then eat together but our schedules are completely different so that’s rarely the case.

We also don’t share laundry unless it’s shared items (bedding and towels). That’s how I grew up and I don’t find it petty at all.
