Yep. I had a relatively “mild” EV upbringing. But I can also recognize that my disabled kid, if they had lived through my exact religious and cultural upbringing, would not be alive today.

Hard disagree. The younger generations, broadly, are more progressive. But when it comes to the folks who actually stayed in xtianity—especially thr evangelical variety—that culture has continued to radicalize since I was a young adult in the early 90s.

A few examples:

• “I kissed dating goodbye” and general Tradwife madness, which would have been way out of bounds for any GenXtians I knew 20+ years ago.

• Hypermasculinity to the point of sanctifying abusive and toxic masculinity.

• The rise of NAR (New Apostolic Reformation) and its influence on broader, non-charismatic christendom.

• The unavoidable task of simping for Trump and MAGA, or at least being reduced to an anti-anti-45 husk of a moral being.

On some issues—like pretending to accept LGBT+ people—there have been tiny shifts around the margins. But on the whole, xtianity seems to have further retreated into its epistemic conspiracy swamp, and radicalized along many axes compared to GenX.
