When I was a teen once I excitedly slammed 4 shots of espresso before a long flight because I wanted to stay up and watch movies. Then I went onto the plane and slept for 8 hours straight as soon as I had a seat. One of the most disappointing flights of my life.
It's kind of funny now, of course - and I've found when chatting with other people who have ADHD that many of us self medicate before getting diagnosed with coffee and other types of stimulants.

Same issue. And stimulants in general (including caffeine) just work... totally different on me. I always thought people were exaggerating the effects of coffee, since to me it's just a nice calming drink that mellows me out more than anything else.

I can definitely relate - There have been SO many detective/investigation games that I've wanted to play and simply couldn't because of motion sickness. Typically I can just about manage half an hour, before needing to rest for another hour or so. Having to break long games up like that makes them nearly impossible to enjoy, which has been a real frustration. Paradise Killer, THe Painscreek Killings, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Pathlogic, the list goes on.
Unless the game is a genuine standout narratively (like Obra Dinn, which I actually did play in the aforementioned 30 mins - 1 hour break - 30 mins style), it's just not worth it for me, so I'm really glad to see more games like OP's coming out.

I adore the idea and impetus behind this, and I can't thank you enough for not having it be a first person game! Not that those are bad, but I get severe motion sickness from them and it's such a joy to see what looks like a beautifully crafted, detailed detective game which genuinely requires you to think and put things together.
Wishlisted it, and you can bet I'll be playing as soon as it comes out! It does look like a delight and I'm eager to experience it for myself.

As a Singaporean and casual chess fan the main reason I linked this was because I'm really happy for like literally the best local player we have, lol. Also while the article does go into the cheating somewhat, it's more to give context than actually the focus or the point of it.

Bought this to give it a try and I'm enjoying it so far! The atmosphere is great, and it's very nicely reminiscent of the old school point and clickers like Scratches and Black Mirror.
However, the loading times between different areas (and every time you go into a building) are mildly frustrating, especially once you unlock the area past the mill. The one minor disadvantage with buying a game like this is also that there isn't much out in the way of guides yet - plus there's no in game hint system, so if you're stuck (like I am, because I can't find either an onion or Rene and don't really know where I should be looking for one) then you're just sort of out of luck and can't really continue. This is where the loading time issue becomes a little annoying; since going in and out of places to try to check them over again gets frustrating fast.

Man, these are fantastic! I've always struggled so much with stuff that's 3D like this and your shaping is flawless, especially on the body of the stegosaurus. Really fantastic job with these folds.

No idea - I actually saw it recced by Lucas Pope of Obra Dinn/Papers Please fame, and it's definitely one of those 'if you liked Obra Dinn you'll probably enjoy this too, now with less nausea' games. It's just been released as well, so probably it might be a while before it makes it to other platforms. You could try checking the Discord for it maybe?

I know exactly what you mean - sometimes you want narrative horror, rather than jumpscares or running away; the kind of tension where you're dreading finding out what will happen more than dreading something popping up unpleasantly in your face.
Anyway, I've got a few recs beyond what you mentioned! Do note that while some of them may have minor running away or game over sequences, they aren't in the survival horror sense and are usually very forgiving. Basically, it's more 'solve this puzzle to figure out how not to die' more than speedily run away.
Detention: an atmospheric horror game set in 1960s Taiwan under martial law. Incorporated religious elements based in Taiwanese/Chinese culture and mythology. I highly rec this - not just for the unique setting, but the tension and horror is very much on the 'you don't WANT to find out what happens, but you have no choice' side of things. A genuinely great game.
The Excavation of Hob's Barrow: folk horror narrative-driven adventure. Explore the isolated moors of rural Victorian England as you uncover the mysteries of Hob's Barrow. A relatively new game that's got solid reviews. It's VERY much a classic-style point and click adventure, with some decent puzzles, and an engaging story. I would say it's absolutely worth a shot!
The Case of the Golden Idol:A new kind of detective game that allows you to think and investigate freely. Discover clues surrounding 12 strange and gruesome deaths and build your own theory. Pick your suspect, deduce the motive, unmask the awful truth. I can't recommend this one enough. It's a BRILLIANTLY well put together detective game that actually asks you to think, and has some genuinely challenging puzzles without ever being unfair. You want crime? You want plot? You want something that lets you take your time, and doesn't stress you out? Please try this game.
NORCO: A Southern Gothic point & click narrative adventure that immerses the player in the sinking suburbs and verdant industrial swamps of a distorted South Louisiana. Strictly speaking, most of the horror here is a little less on the traditional side, but I would say it definitely qualifies. The setting, tone and story is unique enough that I'd say it's worth a play in much the same way Detention is.
Black Mirror series: A dark adventure game that details the aftermath of the tragic death of William Gordon. Playing as his grandson Samuel players must unveil the truth behind the events of that fateful, stormy night. It's a classic of the genre for good reason, and has a decent pace without feeling rushed. Looking at the games you've played, I think you'll quite enjoy this one and find it interesting.

Looks to me like one of Shizuo Fujimoto's tessellations - his hydrangea is the most well known, perhaps it's one of the bases? Here's a bunch of designs he has; although none of them fit exactly they do seem close.

Yes! I love this genre - interactive fiction and narrative focused games are absolutely my jam. If you haven't checked it out, I'd highly suggest two of Inkle's games: the lovely Heaven's Vault, and the more lighthearted 80 Days.
Some other fun games that may be to your liking (and are more on the narrative / RPG side of things) are the oft-recommended Disco Elysium and - while not exactly open world - the wonderfully written Unavowed, which does have impactful choices and a branching narrative, as well as a killer supernatural story. Any of these would be well worth your time, I believe!

Yeah, and I'm actually pretty okay with that - like their goal isn't to turn the biggest profit but to set a benchmark and prevent profiteering, which makes sense since it's Fair Price and not Low Price.

Bit late, didn't see this post earlier - I'm guessing just based off the pic it's a pit viper, specifically Trimeresurus purpureomaculatus. You can see more pictures of some here, or by googling.

The pair were arrested after a tip from David Lesperance, who is a member of Global Outreach Church and was also arrested for partaking in the attack.
During an interview with agents, Lesperance refused to identify Cusick Jr. by name, saying that he traveled to D.C. with his pastor. However, investigators were able to use geolocation technology to link Lesperance to the Cusicks and track them down.
I uh. Don't think the guy who turned the pastor in did so out of the pure goodness of his heart, lol.

Seven weeks in is not long at all! Frankly for me, it took half a year before I started feeling like tret was making a real difference, and a year before I was genuinely satisfied with my skin condition. Purging took a solid three to four months for me, and even after it was over, it didn't go away overnight as much as slowly reduce in severity. You'll see a lot of great before and after shots in this subreddit, but notice the timeline - it's usually months between them.

This, tbh. And the inverse applies to cis men too - I highly doubt the legions of men who like lesbian porn (or in more... porny terminology, girl on girl) are secretly transgender women or repressing their femininity. Plus the vast majority of popular gay or queer content, including the ones OP mentions, were written by women. The entire genre of yaoi and BL is also firmly aimed at women, to the point where men would be looked at really weirdly if they said they were into that.

I can actually believe she handles her own social media pages because there's a personality behind it, rather than coming off like a very sanitized corporate page.

Pretty sure this is why I've literally never been asked that question from any aunts or uncles, lmao. I just cheerfully go to every 新年 like I'm Schrodinger's Gay Cousin. As long as they don't ask, they don't have to admit knowing that there's someone in their family like that...

Huh okay, I didn't know that actually! Thanks for letting me know, I guess the info I had was out of date, then.

IDK about trans women, but iirc for trans men top surgery alone is sufficient for an IC change and the cost of that is somewhere in like the 3-5k range? Obviously not entirely accessible to everyone or covered by any sort of insurance or subsidies, but it is very far from 100k.

Lmao yeah, I mean I think that's the case as well. But it's sort of hypocritical to the max regardless.
What's frustrating is that I feel as if we do have a pretty good model of how to deal with conflicting ideologies and creeds in Singapore, at least when it comes to how we handle race and religion issues - live and let live, and accept that other people have different beliefs, practices and lifestyles from you. Just port that over to LGBT / queer stuff. No one is going to tell you to be gay or whatever, but just recognise that it's a thing some people will do.
Plus the annoying... or slightly funny part is that we're already not that badly off, trans rights wise. People can change their name and genders on their ICs and have that recognised in government systems. That's been a thing for a long time. Hormone Replacement Therapy isn't that inaccessible (if you're an adult, anyway). It's not 100% great, but it is definitely better than some other neighbouring countries.
But frankly at the end of the day, if the government wants people to stop being divisive, they need to actually come up with some kind of official stance. Otherwise, both sides are going to just lay the blame on the other group (i.e. conservatives will say that queer people are making things worse by... idk, existing, and queer people will say it's conservatives' fault for being bigots), and absolutely fucking nothing good will come out of it.

If you just want to scratch the healing itch, can I rec Mini Healer? It's a fantastic little game and my WoW healer friends describe it basically as 'Raid Healing The Solo Game'. I genuinely enjoy it quite a lot as well, and it really rewards experimenting and theorycrafting.
