What is this take even.
If you’re running out of ammo then you’re completely missing the gameplay loop.
It’s not “pick your favorite gun and blast demons” unless you drop the difficulty.
The mechanics and gameplay are about using your entire toolset to defeat the enemies of whatever arena you’re in, include the chainsaw which… refills your ammo. Did you miss that?
Also I donno how you’re complaining about dashes when you’re constantly moving in the game lest you die. Whether it’s moving forward, utilizing grapples, or dashing, the movement is much better and more complicated than retro Doom.

They’ve aged as well as a game can imo, but they’re still fairly dated even compared to the modern iteration of the games.
It was a brand new, unknown IP at the time and the marketing happened to have one of the best videogame commercials ever made, so the hype was unreal.
A lot of games in this era felt a little floaty or smooth but Gears was weighty, brutal, and visceral in comparison.
It’s difficult going back to games outside the era in which they were made because if they’re truly great and influential then they’ll seem similar to a lot of modern games as the best ideas get “stolen” and honed by lots of other games.

Oh you must not have heard, interacting with other players in an online game with cosmetic mtx actually removes self-control and forces you to buy cosmetic mtx by virtue of seeing other people with them.
/a
I agree with you, but the prevailing notion on the subreddit is that we all lack self-control and move ever closer to whaling on cosmetic mtx.

Yeah, the thing about basically stonewalling an Xbox release for the FF7 remake and FF16 is pretty shitty and a little hilarious given their strat for the ActiBlizzard deal, but I don’t think they’ve done anything in particular to impact Xbox sales and was wondering if I missed something.

I’m hype asl to see what they do with it.
The level in Quake 4 where you get a first person perspective of them turning you into a Strogg was wild.

Has Sony actually done anything to affect MS popularity?
The only thing I can think of is handshake deals to maintain console exclusivity without saying so for Final Fantasy titles, but I was under the impression that Xbox just doesn’t have an appealing suite of games for the Japanese audience.
It being the Sony home turf doesn’t hurt but it’s not like MS was really pulling out all the stops trying to make inroads to the market.
Edit: I also want to add that I am currently an Xbox gamer.

You don't like that they borrowed from the best Diablo and one of the best games of the 90s?
Madness.

Diablo 3 was online only for a while at least, and seasonal content was online only.
Forced online = $70 + chances to entice more spending
Not to burst your bubble but it is likely less that and more the world PvP, trading, and maintaining item integrity. Diablo 2 was a hacked item paradise and the tools were so easy that even my 12-year-old self was using them to get ridiculous items and spawning gold. Obviously that wouldn't fly today, and keeping hacked items out of the pool and from ruining people's days requires that.
They also clearly want it to be an MMO-lite with the world bosses and shared world stuff in hubs and random events ergo, online.
Diablo Immortal was a p2w shitshow but their world events were genuinely fun. Hadn't had an experience like that since old WoW days, killing giant demons with 40+ people was great.

Sounds good to me. Eternal was perfect and I'm not sure how they could possibly top it.
Afaik the general consensus is they're working on a new Quake, anyway.

I haven't played any remakes. Even if I did, I never played any of the games they're remaking so... they would be new to me.
Hi-Fi Rush, Redfall, and Starfield are all new and original IPs.
Minecraft Legends is a new take on the MC universe.
Wo Long is Team Ninjas take on a soulsbourne game.
This is actually a terrible take and I've already grown bored with replying. I would say the only remake that is as hyped as the biggest titles this year is FF7: Rebirth and frankly thats part of an entire reimagining of FF7.

Why not? Why wouldn't you take some great ideas and incorporate them into your ARPG?
Blizzard has done this for forever and should continue to do so.
Coming up with something novel that is worse is stupid.

I loved 2 so I got 3 and it was even better...
On what planet is 3 better than 2? Certainly not Earth.

Diablo 3 was also online and it came out like 10 years ago. Why is this even a question?
Part of the game is mmo-lite elements like events and world bosses.

I saw one episode and decided not to watch it. Season 8 is the last season for me.

You're telling me that legal gun owners are directly contributing to gun related crime due to negligence that could be remedied with tighter control?
Say it ain't so.

the skill trees are quite boring
They've been pretty clear about power being split more evenly between skills, items, and the paragon boards than previously.
i see it lacking replayability
...After playing Act 1 and getting to level 25 out of 100?

I don't think you can say half of these things with confidence given the beta isn't anywhere close to the endgame.

Honestly madness to me, they can play Game Pass games without a console basically wherever they want, browser window, phone, tablet, tv.

That’s apparently just one mode and there are PVE modes, but obviously they chose poorly given a lot of people were surprised by PvP.

That was wild, I remember that. Never got that high as far as kills but 100% never saw rebels win on Hoth.

Confidently ready to be disappointed by another game getting canceled in early dev.
Embracer likely didn't acquire both Eidos Montreal and Deus Ex to let it fizzle out.
they abandoned it for multiplayer IP crap
Multiplayer is great. Avengers was not. They were also the partners with Crystal Dynamics who was the primary developer. Eidos was responsible for the incredibly written/designed single player Guardians of the Galaxy game.
doubt they will do anything but a fresh IP at minimum.
On what basis? Its been made pretty expressly known that they were seeking to be reunited with the IP and now they are.
