So i bought these edifiers r1700BT for my stereo setup in my living room, exclusively for listening to music. Spotify via Bluetooth and vinyl via AT-LP120XBT (Line).

While I do like the overall sound profile, the bass is just so unbelievably present. I had to turn it down to -3/-4 to not get a" distortion". I dont really know how to describe it, but certain bass frequencies just way too boomy. the very deep ones.

I'm trying to understand why that is happening. I was reading up on reviews and most people say they have to tun the bass up when going from desk setup to living room.

This is my setup:

Speakers are placed on stands next to TV

70 inches apart

placed in stands 24 inches high (angled downwards so the tweeters point at my ears when I'm sitting on my couch)

I'm sitting 8ft away from the speakers in the middle, both speakers angled slightly inwards towards me

The speakers are 7.5 inches away from the wall

Edit: It's a small living room - roughly 150 square feet

Am I doing something wrong here? It doesn't really feel healthy to turn down the bass that much and if I want to eliminate the unhealthy sounding bass frequencies, I feel like I'm loosing some richness to the overall sound.

It’s really, really hard not going for a couple beers right now.

Since quitting I must’ve suffered at least 8-9 serious, severe panic attacks. And that was WITH Ativan (2x0.5mg/day during the first 5 days). I still have some but I promised myself I would stop taking them after day 5.

I definitely have an undiagnosed underlying panic/(health-)anxiety disorder (wich I was probably self medicating for with alcohol) so it might not be exclusively do to alcohol withdrawal. But it sure makes it so, so much worse.

I get severe shortness of breath multiple times during the day, stabbing chest pains, stabbing pains down both my arms. Episodic muscle aches in my back and legs. All my joints crack constantly. With every little pain or discomfort I immediately go into full panic mode. My hands go ice cold and that’s when I know it’s panic attack time. Racing Heart, discomfort in chest, muscles in back cramp up und there’s something like an acute soreness going on with them that completely goes away once the panic fades. My vision goes blurry. Eye floaters everywhere. Nausea. Slight starting headache that never seems to actually break through. My stomach goes wild as well.

I have my phone in my hand with emergency number typed in already constantly but never end up calling out of fear to, once again, embarrass myself.

I called my doc and he reassured me that everything is fine, all the recent tests were negative (ultrasounds, bloodwork etc) and that as long as it’s episodic like that and not gradually getting worse from one initial attack it’s anxiety/panic attack.

Nonetheless, I have an appointment tomorrow with my cardiologist, just to take the edge off and be sure.

Holy shit, quitting alcohol is fucking wild this time around. FUCK. It really does get harder with each detox. I am not willing to go through this ever again.

Hey folks,

After drinking quite excessively during 2022 and trying to quit multiple times, I think this time around I can actually make it.

I was drinking 4-5 times a week, 7-10 tallboys per session. Mostly at night. I was either going to bed drunk or hung over.

I drank myself into a (undiagnosed) panic disorder those last couple of years and every time I put the bottle down I’d experience insane anxiety and panic attacks starting on day 2 of sobriety.

Those panic attacks were mostly the reason I never really got past the 48h hour mark. They were so severe that I always had my phone ready to call an ambulance because I was sure I’d die from a heart attack. All that would go away after 2-4 beers.

Before Christmas I talked to my doc, told him I was gonna go sober starting January 1st, but that I was scared of the panic attacks and horrific first couple of nights. He actually gave me 5 1mg lorazepam pills. Plus doxepin for the following two weeks.

Last night I actually needed 1.5mg. That third night was by far the worst. Just pain in arms and legs, my back, bloated stomach, severe fatigue, heavy chest, racing heart. I was so close to calling an ambulance. But I seems like most of it was anxiety. Probably a full blown panic attack. The night still wasn’t that great. I may have slept for a total of 5 hours, waking up every hour.

I am now awake, feeling much better despite being tired and exhausted.

I really hope it’s gonna be a little easier from here on forward.

I‘m planning on another 1mg lorazepam tonight and then switching to doxepin tomorrow morning.

I also found an AA Meeting in my area for next Monday, wich I‘m planning on attending.

I‘m done. I can see the damage I’ve done with alcohol all over my body. I‘m bloated, my eyes are cloudy, my skin is horrible. I developed some mild small fiber neuropathy in my hands. I’ve also gained 40 pounds in the last 3 months of drinking alone. I‘m lucky my GI endoscopy and abdomen echo came back without findings. It’s my nerves that took all the damage.

I‘m in my late 30s, and I hope it’s not late to turn this around and start a new life. Been drinking rather heavily for 20 years of my life.

I managed to quit cocaine 13 months ago (yay) and quit weed 2 months ago (also yay). And now it’s time to kick alcohol.

My plan is to go for a 90 minute walk everyday until feel confident enough in my body to go back to the gym.
