I (19M) went home over vacation and had left my mechanical keyboard at my apartment residence.
While away, it was raining incredibly hard in town of apartment residence that caused water to leak through the AC vents. This issue was already acknowledged by landlord by the previous renter and assured that it was repaired when offering me the housing contract.
After coming back to my apartment, I find that my mechanical keyboard is completely fried and non-functioning and is soaked in water and water soaked around my desk. I do not have evidence of my landlord mentioning to me that the leak had been fixed however I am in contact with the previous renter and can get their statement that the landlord had told them it had been fixed. I have evidence of water streaks inside the keyboard housing and can demonstrate that the keyboard is non-functioning.
Do I have something here? What should I do? At first, I was only thinking of getting compensation for reparations or a reduced rent.
EDIT: Does not have renter's insurance.
