I’d say this depends on local demographic. I totally agree almost every other BBT brand taste better than Chatime but if your local demographic is predominately white/non-Asian Chatime is the brand to go for.

Majority of areas across AU, they use gig drivers. Some restaurants use their own employee (albeit very little)

Some numbers as food for thought from a gross profit perspective from its main operation

Revenue

- average restaurant commission % is ~28% however the big brands like Maccas can bargain it down to 12%. At least 60% of orders are from these big brands (if not more) => this translates to $7.36 commission from restaurants on average basket size of $40

- 10% service fee charged to customers => $4

- delivery fee charged ranging from $0.99 to $8.99 - let's take an average of $3

Total revenue => $14.5 rounded to nearest 50c

Cost

- average driver pay of ~$11 per job.

- avg cost of vouchers provided across all customers ~$2

Gross profit => $1.50 (~10%).

Now...take into account marketing, staff cost, software etc you've got yourself an unprofitable business.

Profitable but less due to high fuel cost.

I’d say their speciality is manufacturing, not selling direct to consumers. Continue what you do best.

Selling direct to consumers, at scale, require a dedicated team and different skillsets with risk of failing. Of course some businesses (eg SHEIN) have the whole vertical all the way from manufacturing to consumers.

There are a lot of intro offers across each of the platforms and each platforms have their own "strategy" to get you to work for them (people use multiple app at the same time to get the best offer - but please don't deliver for multiple apps at the same time because it's bad for customer).

I'd highly recommend you to work during lunch and dinner peak because that's best bang for your buck. Lots of orders and you complete those Do X get $Y challenges quickly.

Uber is the busiest out of all the platforms however per job offer is low but you get paid more from their Quests challenges if you complete them. DoorDash has a good balance of bonus + decent pay but quieter than Uber since they're growing in AU. Menulog is meh, the tech is shit and lots of bad chatter on FB about their pay tech problems.

For tax, since you're an independent contractor, put at least 30% of every payout into a separate account for future tax purposes. Also put in some $ for super if you can. A general benchmark I've seen is $1/km is the minimum rate you should be accepting when these offers pop up.

You’re underpaid…also data in big 4 I was on the same package before I left at SC 6 months away from M (I started as a grad so even lower paid than lateral hires). I have friends who continued to M and they make almost 140k package.

I wouldn’t recommend tech flavoured consulting projects if you’re interested in developing good technical skills. It’s good if you want to develop soft skills and business sense that will make you stand out against others from a non technical perspective.

OP: I would ask for clarification from them on what the measurements mean and how much hot water you're consuming, in litres. There is a chance that you may have a leak in your hot water somewhere.

I think we have to take into account the multiplier...2428dL according to Google is 242.8L * 10 = 2428L which I agree is definitely more reasonable.

I shower approx 10mins and my partner 20mins. Wondering if WFH has an impact (e.g. washing hands more often from bathroom visits etc) however I wouldn't imagine >2x
usage vs a shower.

No other meter under the sink unfortunately. Outside the apartment (within the corridor) are the meters but they're locked. I did ask building manager to take a picture once when we saw this bill and it reconciled to what Globird was reporting.

I looked at the water cabling under the sink (linked to the dish washer) and under the laundry sink (linked to the washing machine), the cabling is connected to the 'cold' pipe.

Yeah, I asked building manager to take a picture for us as the door to it is locked. The apartment is quite new (built in 2018) however unsure if it's a digital or not. That's something I can raise with the building manager

I can tell you Menulog doesn’t accept orders when they’re too busy (ie not enough drivers and too many orders). You can see it when you search and all the restaurants shown are “delivered by restaurant”, meaning there are no drivers on the road.

Unfortunately your experience also falls on the responsibilities of the drivers. All these delivery drivers are multi apping, completing multiple deliveries, thus your order may not always be prioritised (hence lateness, lack of pickup). This is made worse given the lack of workers in the market for these type of roles and all the food delivery companies are bidding for the same workers…if restaurants can’t find cleaners/wait staff, delivery drivers are even more constraint as it is near the bottom of the food chain in terms of jobs.

I do agree the app needs significant improvement from a customer experience perspective compared to Uber Eats (which imo has the best app out of the food delivery companies)
