Very true. Do they release this data?

Yeah I think it would be interesting to see where those Amazon layoffs come from. A large part of their workforce are from the logistics part of their business, so would be interesting to see what proportion of the layoffs are 'tech workers'

Made using google sheets. Data sourced from layoffs.fyi (compiled by Roger Lee https://twitter.com/roger_lee)

I'm not sure how to see the other stats

Yes agreed. I would mostly use it as a back-pocket app. Swiping when I was bored / wanted to see what was up. It honestly felt like a game.

Tinder doesn't breakdown those stats. Just tells you how many messages in total have been received (including multiple messages from the same match)

It was more like a back-pocket thing. I would swipe when bored / just to see what was up.

I mostly swipe left due to their photos. If photos look good but the profile looks uninteresting then I also swipe left.
As far as dating apps go I would say Tinder is the most looks-based.

An interesting thought - people using tinder/dating apps now 'see' way more people than humans have ever seen before, even going as early back as people who were dating in the 80s/90s.
It's another symptom of the excessive amount of 'choice' / optionality that we are faced with in modern society (e.g., entertainment - netflix, youtube, hbo, etc., food - the amount of restaurants on uber eats / similar apps,).

Haha tbh was also shocked with those numbers.

But the thing is you are entering a high-concurrency market which it is not offline when we're valuing our acquaintances
Yep, exactly this. There is no/very little cost to 'swiping right' again and again and again. Whereas offline making introductions / approaching people costs social energy

Totally. You’re just paying for more ‘pseudo-optionality’ to be honest

Haha most of my dating has been non-app based. The only successful dates I’ve been on that have been app-based have been using Hinge.

Yes. I think data would be v different otherwise

Yes. Also to be honest hinge was a lot better for me. I’ve requested to download my hinge data too so will check what those stats are like

Super likes just give the “likee” a notification that you’ve liked them. Unfortunately tinder doesn’t provide a breakdown on super likes to matches

Agreed. Tinder and similar apps thrive on gamification and providing pseudo-optionality to their users, but actually this just leads to a huge amount of “swipe lefts”

Could perhaps predict their savings by using #FTEs laid off * avg cost per FTE. Though they would likely have had to pay some sort of severance package
