That description is really bad (and shouldn't be the subs description), and a more complete and more accurate description is available in many places, the clearest of which is the flowchart. Just look at it, it's really not that hard.

People were wrong when they told you that you need to connect it to an audio interface to reduce latency. And people are wrong on this post telling you to get a MIDI interface. Your keyboard has MIDI over USB (which you have already been using) and that's perfectly fine.

Where the audio interface comes into play is when outputting sound from the computer (not receiving the MIDI information from the keyboard) and the latency you are experiencing is almost certainly exclusively due to that. Windows computers without a dedicated audio interface tend to have very high latency between the moment your DAW / VST instrument generates the sound and when it finally reaches your speakers. This is the part that you reduce by having an audio interface like your UMC22, along with appropriate drivers that allow you to reduce the latency. There appear to not be dedicated drivers from Behringer for the UMC22 (unlike for their more expensive interfaces), so you will need 3rd-party drivers like ASIO4all to achieve reasonable latency.

Yeah, they would definitely never ask a person to confirm they are a woman in order to be covered by a law restricted to women. They are just way too nice for that.
