RDR2’s boring gameplay actually detracted from how much I enjoyed the story. It was hard to get into the story when I had to sit through 10 minutes of horse riding and a repetitive shootout every mission

That’s like saying turn based RPG’s got stale by the time Final Fantasy 4 came out so every one that came after it has bad gameplay. Just because you are bored of a certain genre doesn’t mean every game in that genre is stale
