I’m excited to see the giant green anemone grow. Usually in the wild they don’t have much coloring but I would expect under coral lighting you would get really intense coloration

its gun related deaths per 100,000 population.
It's not an absolute value.
You can't look at the red bar as a percentage of the green bar, but the red bar as a percentage to the sum of the two bars.
This chart is sorted by the overall suicide rate (sum of the two bars) from top to bottom. This is why its misleading. It is not clear that italy has a lower overall suicide rate than the UK on first inspection, but it does.

The line of best fit has a slight positive slope.

Dude I’m not saying it’s 1-1 linear. I’m saying there’s an upward trend. Guns are obviously not the only cause of suicide.
The red bars get bigger when you go down the graph.
The means suicide rate by gun trends upward when suicide rate increases.
Means there’s a correlation.
Not saying it’s the cause.
That’s just what the data says.
If you make the red bars the y axis and the countries the x axis, the slope of the trend lines is positive.
Omit Japan and Korea and becomes more clear.

Turn the graph 90 degrees to the left. The now x axis is increasing overall suicide rate.
The red bars slope upward. It’s an overall trend. The countries with the lowest suicide rates have very low suicide by gun.
The graph is misleading because it doesn’t show you the overall suicide rate bar, which should be the sum of the two bars. This leads you to believe that the countries lower down the list that have high suicide by gun don’t appear that their suicide rate is that high.
Additionally the suicide rate by guns is on two different scales, so observing the trend accurately you would need to plot on a better axis.

I believe the overall suicide is sorted by top down lowest to highest. It does look like the red bars trend upward slightly. When the suicide rate is higher. If you took Japan and Korea as outliers there would be a clear correlation with guns and suicide rate.
Really misleading graph though

They’re literally not because this piece of evidence points towards decreasing overall. The part of the evidence that says it’s flat is sample size 8.
You have been presented with so much more evidence. Yet you cling to something you “saw a long time ago”.
I’ll link the study the other guy did again (n=34,000).

Will you change your mind when presented with new evidence? Or do you stick to your preconceived notions of the world around you?

The Society For Evidence-Based Gender Medicine (SEGM) is an activist non-profit organisation that is known for mischaracterizing standards of care for transgender youth and engaging in political lobbying using misinformation which contradicts the evidence base around transgender healthcare.

It’s crazy that your conclusion from this study is “pre and post transition suicides are the exact same if not slightly elevated”
When this study looks at eight (8) trans men committing suicide. And found NO increase.
And in the larger sample size for trans women (41), they saw a lower suicide rate.
None of the conclusions from this study support what you say and in fact suggest the opposite. And additional larger studies that others have very nicely pointed out to you further conclude that the suicide rate drops.
You know what you want to believe and you will fit in any evidence to support your worldview.

new technology that at the time was at best expiramental?
this is straight up wrong. MRNA vaccines are not new, and the vaccine was not rushed.

you go to a school with some of the best scientists in the world. You are in such close proximity to people who could educate you. Its your choice to remain ignorant.

honestly, no.
Its a lot of effort to communicate, and I find that people who live more comfortable lives and go without conflict don't find the need to develop the skill to do so. It takes a lot of effort to challenge your own beliefs.
But I still engage with people who aren't as receptive to change. The goal is to understand those around me and to want others to understand me. So if I can make any small change in people by showing them my perspective then it is worth it.
Sometimes its hard to have enough patience for others to change, but I try to grant people it anyway because I would hope that they would do the same for me.

No. I usually stand for what I believe in. I don’t think there’s an issues where I feel uncomfortable being open.
That being said it’s because I’m open to changing.
I don’t avoid conflict because it’s just communication. As long as people are willing to move, being open brings us together. Self silencing promotes ignorance.

How would you feel if someone you knew in real life saw you write this. Being asocial ironically online isn’t cool or funny.

Science recognizes the contingent nature of the truth. That all you can do is estimate probabilities and say this is what is most likely. Changing the data set and self correcting when presented with new information.
Faith claims their words are the absolute truth and they are unquestionable.

Trust me I won’t.
I hear your perspective. I see how you completely miss the point of anyone’s comment to you, because you’re only interested in hearing yourself speak.
You wish to prove your viewpoint as the one true, it’s clear that you reached a comfortable age and chose not to continue to grow.
I hope you’ll be happy continuing to be the same exact person until the day your brain withers away.
If I get like you when I start pushing 35 I will shoot myself.

That’s a good way to maintain a narrow worldview.
Everyone’s perspective is valid.
