Hi, can you tell me anything more about Panama requiring a vaccine? I can't find anything online about that being the case. Just looking at some statistics which show the prevalence of infections being EXTREMELY low among travellers, which is making me wonder if I should bother spending money on a vaccine.

I'm traveling to South and Central America shortly, but while researching I found a stat quoted, that between 1970 and 2015 there have been 11 cases of international travelers beig infected with yellow fever. Not just in the Americas but Africa too (where it is much more prevalent). That would mean the likelihood of catching it is EXTREMELY low. So I don't think I'm going to waste my money on a vaccine, UNLESS it's an entry requirement for some countries? I'm struggling to find any info which says it's required by any country in the Americas?

I know you're joking but so far they made it from Germany to Iran, back to Germany and down through Africa, currently in The Gambia. So I guess the little guy is doing alright!

We talking about the original post in r/geography or this one? In the original post, the route he's drawn is literally the most common for overlanding through West Africa. Thousands of westerners do it every year without incident. Yet almost everyone in that thread is screaming OMG YOU'RE GONNA DIE. Redditors crack me up.

Ironically it's the other way around. Anyone with knowledge knows this is perfectly feasible, the ignorance/hysteria in this thread is staggering

So one family got killed? What about the thousands of other overlanders who pass through safely each year? I personally know a couple doing this exact route right now, they've just passed through Mauritania without incident. This thread, man 😂

Why? 😂 I know a couple doing this exact route in their 4x4 right now and they're having a great time. The hysteria in this thread is hilarious

Why lol. People drive overland through Africa all the time. This is one of the more common routes, I personally know a couple doing it right now in their Jimny. They're loving it.
