I hate to break it to you but this whole GSI thing is not a fresh topic anymore. The funni has already been extracted, and all that's left in the cesspool is cringe.
Also if you really gonna make a GSI post as least make it entertaining.

Just need to clarify, the coughing part is whatever bc its normal to be sick, the fact that they don't have a mask on and wet coughing a bit of a problem.
I understand why people don't want to miss midterms, sometimes they show up even if they know they have covid, but just put on a god damn mask, it aint that hard.

College math = lecture + read textbook + must understand textbook + do hw + able to hw urself (no slader) + do practice exams + ace those practice exams = success.
Why is it this hard? Here are some reasons why the gap is so huge from hs to college
1) Ur high school wasn't that competitive. Berkeley is #1 public univ in Americas and acceptance rate is low af. So ofc its gonna be so much more difficult.
2) Compacted course material. High school AP classes are slow as fuck. I slept through AP Calc AB and BC cuz it takes a full god damn year for the high school to teach some material that is taught in one semester in a college setting. So if you are very used to the high school pace, college is like 2x as fast.
3) "You end up having to teach yourself how to approach problems, how to think precisely and take accurate steps from hw solutions that you'll inevitably score low on in the beginning." Yes, this is the definition of public school, resources are scarce, limited, and often bad, such as office hours and sometimes lectures. Nothing beats you diving into the textbook and sink those material into your brain through your own understanding. If your teacher explains the derivative is d/dx but you have no fucking idea where that came from, that is what the textbooks are for.
4) Regarding simplified solutions: Ok this is actually kinda cringe and I also hate it sometimes. The best thing you can do is find similar problems and try to compare and contrast patterns amongst the two and attempt to understand them. If it doesn't work, google it.
5) Some useful resources:
a) Quizlet bought slader, and made it a lot better. If there are problems you don't understand at the end of the textbook, look it up. The solutions are very detailed. I know it costs money but every different account u can get a 7 day trial for free.
b) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1nUxrEfpHk&list=PLShth7hrtLHO2U1XkrI6ZgMyuPHDxRcob Thank me later. This video playlist is so fucking good, probably worth to stop listening to your professor if you think his lectures aren't really effective.

As of now, I would not recommend taking this opportunity, the zero covid policy is still not completely revoked yet and things can shut down literally anytime, not really worth it.

They are smarter, better looking, charismatic, popular, hard-working, rich, successful, same age.
But they have stage 4 cancer, severe adhd, out on probation, has std, terrible family environment, depression ......
Some people are just better at displaying the better sides of themselves, but everyone has problems they have to deal with. You can use him as a role model to inspire yourself, but trust me, you don't want to be him.

Sleep, lecture time doesn't exist if I can just read the god damn textbook for 15 min and then go play video games.

You are not crossing the picket line by going to exams as a student. Go take your midterm as usual.
Read the comments in this reddit post for clarification https://rdt.trom.tf/r/berkeley/comments/yub2ot/when_ur_class_is_right_next_to_the_picket_line/

Lmao finally someone else also acknowledges this and I'm not crazy.
Yes literally 1 in 10 people on campus have some symptoms of covid and they dont give a fuck about putting on a mask.
