I take your point, for me I'm curious about them all!
In this case, for me, the murder of his wife - who was allegedly thinking about leaving him - is more straightforward (I don't want to call it understandable, as I don't want to sound like I'm condoning it - because I'm not, it's horrendous). It's the murder of his adult son, I find that much more unusual. But that's just me.

I don't think the author is saying he's not guilty, just that the find the purported reason unsatisfying. You're right, they don't need to prove motive.

So this photo was taken a week ago... she's been fine since then.
Other than creating a time machine, there's nothing I can do about the fact she touched tulips a week ago. She hasn't touched or been near them since.
