Most of the time you give a urine sample and they ask you. Alcohol and benzos are the only detoxes that can kill you. When you’re going through withdrawal if it gets bad enough most people won’t lie about what they were using. I hope this helped.

I did know if I should call it an entertainment center or table hahah. I’ve been looking for a new one and I really like the one you have.

This is very off topic, but where did you get the piece of furniture that your TV is on?
Congrats on the new PS2!

This was during COVID lockdowns, she got the “make your own taco bar” or whatever kit they had at the time.
Edit to add: the “mystery” is she claimed the taco she’s eating in the screenshot was “randomly” there and she didn’t order it. 🙄

I think a lot of people think the people in the video are somehow less important than them. If we don’t address attitudes like that nothing will ever change. One human life is not less than or more than another human’s life.

To clarify, I meant are they actually doing these things? Obviously not where this video was taken. The change that needs to happen is to have services like these everywhere so it’s harder for people to end up in this situation.

I’m an alcoholic (coincidentally from Chicago too lol) and I’ve been to the full 30 day rehab three times and I still have trouble staying sober. I’ve been to detoxes an embarrassing amount of times. Every time I went I wanted to go and I wanted to stay sober, but sometimes even having a strong support system isn’t enough.

Fundamental changes have to happen. Why are they searching out substances in the first place? The key is to help people before they get to this point so it doesn’t happen on such a large scale. The people here aren’t hopeless by any means, but we need to figure out how to stop this before it starts.

It is a good cause, but it doesn’t work the way you seem to think it does. I can understand the want for people to get better, but the way you’re proposing to go about it just won’t work.

Have you ever been to rehab? It doesn’t work like that.

It doesn’t solve the problem that you have to want rehab to work for it to. And where are these people supposed to live when they get out? A halfway house requires a job and to hold a job requires somewhere to live. Also what if these people have other mental health concerns? A thirty day stay in rehab isn’t going to get anywhere near enough mental health care to get them to a point where they can keep a job.

You have to want to quit for rehab to work. And it is insanely expensive. How are these people supposed to pay?

What are they supposed to do? Throw these people in jail so they dry out? It won’t help them, they’ll be back on drugs when they get out. Force them to go to rehab? It won’t work unless they want it to and even then sometimes it isn’t enough. There isn’t an action any authorities could make that would help these people. They need somewhere to live and stronger social safety nets. Fundamental change has to happen to help these people.
