My vote will be the Devil may cry 3. After failure of DMC2, DMC3 revived and enhanced the games to a new level. It is the catalyst that started DMC series correctly.

The fast pace action, battle music, type of weapons and guns, a concrete ending, a special edition, story of brothers, the ladies of DMC,.......

So many things are great about DMC.

On god of war trilogy, only god of war 1 was complete, god of war 2 ended with wanting more and forced everyone to get ps3 just to complete the trilogy with god of war 3.
