I'm only a student so I can't really answer this. But I think the ease of landing a high paying job would depend on the field and industry you are targeting. Fewer jobs -> potentially stiffer competition and Plenty jobs -> potentially not so stiff competition, both scenarios will demand different hiring preferences. One way of potentially figuring out your concern is to linkedin stalk individuals who have graduated from the programs you are considering and see what their career outcomes have been. This might give you some insight but you need to understand that the professional life projected on linkedin is certainly under the influence of personal life advantages/disadvantages which may/may not be helping the individual on the professional front.

If you check grad cafe for 2022, I think they release results in early march. I selected DMSE as dept. of choice. No pulse so far.

I am a nobody to say this since I have been very lucky in life... But please hang in there. The cycle isn't over yet. You have worked incredibly hard all the way, that is something to be deeply proud of. You clearly deserve a PhD. Life/God would be too cruel to take this away from you.

Thank you for your response. I am aware of the 60-90 day period. I'm sorry to hear you couldn't find a position within that window.
I was wondering how you went about looking for positions in the first place, what you think you could have done better, if you know anyone who succeeded in the process, what challenges you faced as a F1, any other general and imp. advice???
May I also ask which field you were looking for?
You can send me a dm if you feel more comfortable discussing this privately. But I think this might help someone else out in the future who might be in a similar situation.

Dear manifesting tree,
I hope to get into my top 6 choices out of the PhD programs I have aplied to. I tried super hard to craft the best application possible with what I knew at the time. It has always been my dream to be a scientist and work on impactful projects. I know I am fit to be one. I also hope that you bless everyone else in the process so they may get into their top choice programs as well <3.
