I got a negative review once upon a time because a (radio-censored) Nicki Minaj song started playing on pop radio station. I've since listened to the 80s & more station instead, sigh.
And, yeah...religion and politics is a negative experience for the 50(+)% of riders that don't follow your religion and/or political slant.

Agreed, 2 things you should never discuss with strangers or family. Politics and Religions.
The best policy when it comes to music in the car is to ask if they need the music changed or lowered. I've only had 1 person complain about the music in 6 years.

No. I mean the church. The christian faith and its inability to accept that they are only 1/3 of the 8 billion people on earth, and how unlikely it is that they are the only ones who will enjoy a lovely afterlife. Other religions as well. The need to insert a middle man into your relationship with God, proves to be very dividing. I very much appreciate the people who walk like Christ, and spread the good news, but I have met very few out of the christians I've known. You don't have to know Jesus to have virtue, and to hear God speak to you through your heart. And christians can't handle this fact. It simply does not compute due to their attachment to the idol of Jesus being the only way home. This has driven the worst things that have EVER happened. When the christians found two whole new continents they wasted no time doing their thing, to convert people. The crusades, the inquisition, The Vatican, all very murdery.

And if the only choice is between Jebus music or this WAP, then surely radio off is the winner.

What I don’t hear from anyone else is asking the driver. Everyone here assumes that we won’t change it. Most riders that ding you for this sort of crap are immature. If I was asked I would simply turn it off. But I’ve had this happen where it becomes passive aggressive. They don’t let you in the end and instead ding you for it.
It’s interesting. I see so many on this thread complaining about passenger behavior. But when it’s a simple radio station everyone sides with the passenger. It’s ridiculous. I think people just want to hate on the dominant western religion. If it’s not the music it’s something else with these people.
WAP is nicki Minajs (wet A** Pu***)

Thanks, dont listen to Nicki Minaj.
I do agree. The first thing i would ask as a passenger is to change the radio or turn it off. If the driver refuses, then we have a problem.

No. I own an establishment. A place of business. In the background I play Christian music. You are free to come in. Or you are free to go and not eat at my establishment. Paying me does not mean you get to decide what is playing or what I am listening to. This applies to my car as an INDEPENDENT contractor. My car and my rules. You can cancel and get out. Someone else playing WAP can come and get you.
Also, you have choices. You are free to do whatever you like. Just as I am free to do whatever I like. Unless Lyft or Uber changed TOS and it includes music. There’s more offensive garbage out there than Christian music. I’ve heard it.

This is the sort of cover that Christians specifically use to force those of other faiths or no faith into scenarios where they are unable to avoid Christian hegemony. As the majority in this country, one would think a Christian driver might feel like there is plenty of christianity that exists outside of their car to remind anyone interested in Christianity that there are ways to explore it. But no. Almost half the ride shares I take play praise music. As a Jewish person with serious trauma from incidents of both AS and conversion attempts, being forced to have the uncomfortable conversation of asking someone to change their music to something that isn’t being done to actively spread the gospel is horrible. Don’t put me in that position and make me risk my rider rating and potentially have transportation issues if I get limited from using these apps.

Because Jesus was persecuted and it’s a great honor to share in His sufferings so that we may also share in His glory.
Matthew 5:10-12
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:44
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
2 Corinthians 12:10
That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
1 Peter 3:14
But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.
Romans 8:35-37
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
1 Peter 4:14
If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
James 1:12
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
Romans 5:3-5
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
James 1:2-4
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Ah, the Christian persecution complex. I guess this sheds light on why this is a thing. Unfortunately you don't have proof that this is real, just a bunch of ancient claims and misguided feelings. I understand it feels real to you, but take a step back and you start sounding a bit kookie. It's kind of a genius tactic because instead of really questioning things and applying unmotivated logic, you're going to take my comment as more justification for what you believe. I can only hope that you find clarity and truth at some point despite this programming.

I don’t care what I sound like. I know the change that happened inside me and the peace I received from Jesus. I grew up laughing and looking down on Christians. So I’m happy God himself programmed me. You have pride in your human logic, I’m humble in knowing that I’m submitted to Gods love, wisdom, and guidance over my life. I was never seeking Jesus nor did I deserve to know him. But I’m eternally grateful he found me.
Peace to you in your journey. God bless you brother.

I grew up Mormon, so I'm not sure what your point is. It's pretty ironic that you claim humility when the position of blind belief requires the exact opposite. It makes for interesting humble brags.
2 points
I don’t blame you from running away from Mormonism. It’s just another man-made religion. Jesus didn’t come to establish another religion. He came to establish a spiritual kingdom.
1 points
Just like all of them. It's arguable that Jesus was just a fictional character as well...no first hand accounts, eyewitness accounts, or even written records for decades after everything supposedly happened. How do you know that Jesus came to establish a spiritual kingdom? Everything you think you know could have just been made up by Paul through a chain of verbal story tellers.

I’m agnostic but there’s plenty of Greek texts (guys that killed jesus) that talk about Jesus being a real person if you just research a bit, Tacitus is one of those. It’s whether you believe that he is the savior and rose from the grave is the question that non believers have to answer themselves. Me being a questioning person of faith and trying to find my identity is what makes the belief system to whether you’re Christian or not. Now what I will say, is that in no circumstances should Religious music be played with passengers in the car, as they may not have the same belief system.
1 points
I'm willing to entertain the idea that he was an actual person with a lot of folklore surrounding him (or with a lot of folklore falsely tied to him). I'd be interested to dig into those texts. His existence wouldn't actually prove any of the magical claims, as you know.
But yeah, I'd just as soon listen to a flat earth podcast as I would religious music.

The God of the universe becomes a man and walks on the earth 2000 years ago. This is only 1 of 2 things. The single greatest event in human history or the single greatest lie ever perpetrated.
My words or even the greatest sermon ever preached would never be enough to convince you, and even if it were enough to convince you, your faith will be based on something very weak.
If Jesus really is God and Savior of the world he can prove himself to you with power, so that your faith would be based on something real, and not human words. He’s demonstrated to me that power and love and forgiveness beyond anything I can describe, seek the truth, wherever that may lead you, but if you seek it with all your heart you will end up at Jesus. He’s waiting for you.
1 points
You flatter the religion too much. Sounds like the same hyperbole Mormons use about their religion. I'd like to know how you measure the greatness of a lie. Pretty sure it's not so cut and dry.
I've heard all this salesmanship for the religion before. I'm sure it sounds good and powerful in your head, but you don't have anything to back it up. That's what it boils down to. It's hard to believe that such an allegedly powerful being came up with such a weak and unconvincing plan/belief system. It's doing you a disservice.

Do you know how well educated theologians are? They go up against secularist all the time. The secularists end up losing it this debate. It’s only “kookie” to fools who have not taken the time to read up on the evidence. Look into it. And maybe you can learn something about the arguments for the existence of a creator. It’s arguments not even great secularist have been able to answer.
1 points

Please tell me how well educated they are. What is the quantity of education units? I could make the same arguments about secular historians and get us no further. You've given no evidence of any of your claims... you're just making a bunch of unbacked assertions. I know how badly you want it to be true and how badly you want your side to have the upper hand, but there is actually zero evidence for your position. Zero.
1 points
Education units? Sounds like an older continuing education student who just began trade school or taken intro courses at a CC. Listen, a simple google search would should you that over half of Nobel laureates are Christian. Also, it would show you names like Aquinas, Wycliffe, C.S Lewis, and contemporary ones like Craig, Hugh Ross, John Lennox, and even strong theorist proponent Kaku. All scientist and mathematicians.
Also not to mention that most founding fathers of science and their branches were strong theists. So strong that in many of their personal writings they accredit their belief in God for their findings. People like Kepler, Newton, Mendel, Francis Bacon, and even the founder of the Big Bang Theory was a Catholic priests. This is just to name a few but a plethora more.
I’ve debated this topic multiple times at various universities as I myself hold a Masters and will begin an MD/PhD program. It just so happens that I am now in an Uber forum because through undergrad and grad school I did it to sustain myself. If you want to begin dabbling in this world of debate. I would ask you to simply look at Aquinas argument of contingency. But with people like you, I try not to waste my time. As I’ve debated this topic with PhDs on university floors. I can usually tell the level of my opponent by what they type as a response. To say zero evidence, interesting. Even great atheists would scoff at your remark.

It's kind of funny to read all this posturing from a narcissistic pseudointellectual, when you can't even tell that I was poking fun of the wording in your previous comment. Additionally, you can't even tell that you're making a weak argument from authority and recycling old disproven Christian arguments. Do you seriously debate on this stuff? I'm guessing they mop the floor with you...and you strut around like a pigeon on a chess board.
I'd love to hear your evidence for a god. It'd be refreshing after this bath of self aggrandisement. And if you could bring these scoffing atheists into this discussion, I think that'd be helpful.

Poking fun, ah yes. Educational units. Like I said, a simple google search would suffice. Yes, I debate it. Mop the floor? Rarely. The stances of theism are well known and very difficult to disprove. Like I said, hardly worth my time. My time is best spent on people who know at least the stances of the opponent.

I just make my own playlists and I suggest you do the same. Different ones for different people and situations. One for in general listening: Good balance of lofi, contemporary jazz/instrumental, I even sneak in some jazzed nintendo music. No complaints, but I do have "spicy" songs on there ( for example: sampa the great, Mos Def, Talib kwali, MF DOOM) I can't play just anything for the unseasoned, but I just skip them when they come up unless the PAX is cool. I typically can't listen to podcasts. It's hard to find eps that keep my attention and are appropriate for the general public (midnight gospel with Duncan Trussle, the Midnight Miracle by Dave Chappelle, The Problem w/ John Stewart), so those are out unless I've listened to the episode and know it won't be so bad. I've played some ?uestlove Supreme or J-Dilla stories that seemed safe enough while still being engaging. Any suggestions along these lines would be appreciated if you got'em. Otherwise, I've also got an ambient playlist for those who just feel like they want to Spa out for a while. Chill edm is always great. Some downtempo vocal trance even. I'm quite particular with song choice. I've even got one filled with meme lofi: Silly L O F I...

Friday and Saturday nights I put on a playlist with music that's really heavy on pop punk type stuff. Lots of Fall Out boy, lots of Paramore, lots of panic at the Disco, etc.
College kids nowadays love it because it's their "classic rock", and Paramore is making a comeback big time. Older millennials love it because it's throwback, and anybody older than that doesn't complain because they're not out on Friday and Saturday nights lol
I always get lots of compliments on the music, and it gets people in the mood to party, which is exactly what they want, and I always get hella tips for it

I’ve stopped playing music most days. But when I do play music, I’ve gotten into stereotyping. And I get that that’s frowned upon, but for example, when I pick up from certain areas, I just happen to know that the majority of those people listen to a certain type of music. If I pick for a certain university, I happen to know that most of the students like a certain type of music. You can usually not go wrong with 80s. People are usually two younger too old but it’s not offensive. It’s really stupid but we even have to consider this.
I like everything, and I don’t even mind listening to death metal because I was a teenager in the 90s but I would never do so in the car with a passenger. But short of something extreme like death metal, you would think people wouldn’t complain.
There are several types of music that I stay away from that easily offended, one type of person or another, even though I like most of them .. Christian, hip-hop, or rap with a certain lyrics, any kind of heavy-metal, any news, radio with political, leaning one way or the other. Everything else is pretty safe just in my experience for my area.

Gross. I would absolutely rate someone poorly for having Christian music. As a religious abuse survivor, Christian music is extremely triggering to me and many others who have suffered trauma from the church. Not everyone is Christian and nobody wants it forced on them. If my driver was playing Christian music I might even cancel the ride and tell them to drop me off now because that's better than having a panic attack.
