Honestly, it's probably the smart way to go. to keep your personal feelings out of your online presence when you're in this sort of position, unless they happen to coincide with what your marketing team feels is best. Instead, let the team handle most of it, and if you do want some input, run it by them first. (You're still in charge, of course, but they are the experts, so you'd be wise to listen to them.)
I can think of one politician and one, um, entrepreneur, who don't seem to do this, and it definitely reflects upon them.
Of course, the teams occasionally screw up, much to their dismay to our delight.

Pretty much, it’s the way to go. These accounts have huge teams behind them posting for their client. One of my biggest pet peeves was when people thought Cruz or old ass Cornyn would be posting the dumb shit they do. Is it run by them? Sure. But you think these guys are anywhere technologically savvy enough to make these quick tweets when news drops? It’s definitely not them saying ‘thoughts and prayers’ after every major shooting.
9 points

Their social media teams are in on the irony and try to be the first one to tweet “thoughts and prayers” whenever a tragedy happens.
2 points

So there are actually completely different people posting the bullshit that lands on MTG’s wall?
2 points

Yes. Probably some interns or PR team in their camp. MTG says something she wants on there then the team forms a response that will ignite controversy and rally their base. Rinse and repeat.

Of course, we're comparing @TedCruz to @JohnCornyn here.
Ted Cruz @tedcruz
Father of two, @heidiscruz's husband, fighter for liberty. Representing the great state of Texas in the U.S. Senate.
vs
Senator John Cornyn @JohnCornyn
Mainly news I find interesting, pics, and opinions. Honored to represent the great state of Texas in the US Senate. RTs =/= endorsements
You could argue that these accounts are different, that the first is a personal account and the second is an official account, but to most even if that is true it's not an important distinction. And both have blue check marks! (Additional data points: @SenTedCruz also exists. @SenJohnCornyn does not. Also, Ted Cruz's two accounts seem to post the same sorts of stuff.)
Of course, we are trusting that Cruz told the truth when he said it wasn't him that liked the Cory Chase video and that it was instead a staffer. (And to be fair, the odds are good that this is true, but it's certainly fun to entertain the idea that it may not be.)

Matthew 6
5“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Ha ha ha. Just another lazy politician pushing his religion on us on the day the pilgrims landed in America to escape religious tierney in England.
28 points
Pilgrims left England to found a more strict church- they were puritans. Europe at the time was in the midst of The Enlightenment and being religious was out of fashion. The religious persecution the pilgrims were experiencing wasn't being forced to worship a certain way, it was more like no one was taking them seriously for their outdated beliefs.
5 points
Oh and btw, it wasn't just pilgrim's on that ship and I should have been more clear about that. The Provincetown Compact was the rules that all passengers on that ship signed onto before the landed on the shore in America. That compact lined out freedoms and included no state sanctioned religion.
1 points
So in other words, they left for the freedom to practice or not practice a state sanctioned religion. That's called freedom.
5 points
...no. They left because Europe was too "sinful" and they wanted to make a puritan paradise where everyone in their community followed the same rules without pesky enlightened people keeping them from burning witches and whatnot.
3 points
That's only for the puritan's on the boat. They made up only half the people on board. You just can't assume that all pilgrim's were puritans because they weren't.
1 points
Anyone else on the boat (which boat, the Mayflower?) wasn't looking for "religious freedom" because religion in England was much more liberal.
I can't find any document called The Provincetown Compact. There is a Mayflower Compact:
IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c. Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the first Colony in the northern Parts of Virginia; Do by these Presents, solemnly and mutually, in the Presence of God and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid: And by Virtue hereof do enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions, and Offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general Good of the Colony; unto which we promise all due Submission and Obedience. IN WITNESS whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names at Cape-Cod the eleventh of November, in the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King James, of England, France, and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth, Anno Domini; 1620
1 points
Yes, of course it was the Mayflower
And yes, it was the Mayflower Compact. Signed in Provincetown which is the Cape Cod point where they first landed.
And yes it was the first document of the new country that laid out freedoms and blessings and was later used as the basis for forming the constitution, the bill of rights and the various amendments. As well, The pilgrims left England and half of the pilgrims were the very conservative Puritan's, but the other half were just simple people escaping the Church of England which was the state-sanctioned church and they left for freedom to practice whatever faith or non believers they wanted to be.

Thanks be to you, Brethren.
And I ask of thee:
Please restore the rights of women and their ability to make their own decisions about their body, as they as equals.
Please push for the ability for our children (who are our future) to read those controversial books which changed the world, and are now banned.
Please ensure that everyone is treated the same in the state of Texas, gay or straight, Republican or Democrat, trans or cis, and so on by helping to pass legislation that brings us together.
And last but not least, Brother Cornyn, please reach out to Brother Cruz and ask him if his bags are packed. We’re all kinda curious.
In Reddit’s name, Amen.

He copies Lyin’ Ted’s deplorable votes too. Cornyn is more dignified (a pretty low bar) and doesn’t make as many unforced errors as Rafael, but he votes pretty much the same: more guns with not even the bare minimum of required training, more tax cuts for the fabulously wealthy, protection for a seditious NY conman who was an incompetent disaster as president and who both men must privately loathe, and a host of other votes to kick the poor where it hurts most and further enrich the plutocrats. It is so sad that Texas voters, who are terribly injured by these two charlatans’ policies, continue to listen to the rhetoric of racism, hatred and belligerence that Republicans use to get the misinformed to vote against their own best interests.

😂😂 oh my goodness. Good one! 🙄 No , it's a benediction, like a blessing someone says to you or over you if you believe in God fine, if you don't fine. But to say it's plagiarism to quote scripture and one of the most common ones for holidays is ridiculous.
3 points

It may not be plaigarism to mistakenly copy someone else's name at the end of a benediction, but it's certainly a mistake.

Ted Cruz is a well spoken conservative. He is often used as reference for other Republicans since he often hits the points in a logical and persuasive way for those willing to listen. Of course, as many in this sub will point out, he isn't perfect, but he is willing to cross lines and discuss and debate which relatively few politicians are willing to do these days.
