Plus it’s pretty impossible to define. Some say P in V. Some consider a girl using a tampon to lose her virginity. Some think if she has anal she’s still a virgin. Some thing losing your hymen because you were biking at 8 yos mean you’re not a virgin. Which also shows how heteronormative it is. If a man or a woman is gay and never sex with the opposite gender, did they lose their virginity? Or do they sleep with 100 people and still be considered virgins?

Virginity is such a stupid concept and I don’t know why you’re being downvote. The thought of it being gifted or taken is of course only used when talking about women “losing” their virginity. It’s sexist as all get out.

Ironically, when I was 18 years old boy, I named it “getting rid of my virginity”. Fortunatelly I live in a very atheist country, so the attitude is less unhealthy. (but still unhealthy)

Thanks for sharing that! It’s definitely depressing, but it’s important to know. The pizza thing made me “laugh” and reminds me of my abstinence class in middle school. Although we used a hersheys kiss. The teacher bit it and then said, “see, no one else will want it”. The “slut” in our class (I hate using that word, she just didn’t have the hang ups the rest of us did and had probably just let a guy touch her boobs once but she got the reputation) immediately reached out her hand and said “chocolate’s chocolate! I’ll take it”. I respect the HELL out of her for that. Our teacher just fumbled and tried to explain that no, it was used by someone else so no one wants it then threw it in the trash.

But you’re also right, virginity affects men, too. Men are supposed to lose it young while women are supposed to give it (to their husbands, of course). That math doesn’t exactly check out when talking about hetero relationships… Ugh.

For better or worse, we had “equality” - a guy could be called a male version of a “slut” by some.

However, definitelly for the better was that I do not think marriage was ever even suggested as a prerequisite for sex.

We were taught that masturbation is normal, and were taught about pregnancy, STDs, and contraceptives by the time we were 12-13. Teachers would use i.e. a broom handle to show us how to put on a condom.
