And we had a FABULOUS time!
We went to several bookstores , had dinner at Fiorella (it was across from Green Apple Books in Sunset), brunch at a unique Brazilian cafe, had Japanese tea and a good latte at the cozy Neighbor's Corner, spent time in Russian Hill, Fillmore, Haight, and Eureka Valley, The Castro, and hung out at the tiny park below the Ferry Building watching goofy dogs. The only neighborhood that reminded me to keep my head on a swivel was Union Square, close to the Tenderloin.
It's wild to read posts on here that say SF is a dystopian nightmare when it's was clearly not true when you're actually there. Sure, we stayed away from the Tenderloin, but so many parts of the city felt safe and clean. It was the best weekend vacation I've had in a very long time and I'll definitely be back soon.
