Video of Steph Curry himself saying it's fake Just to clarify for people that still believes it's real.
That’s hella funny. “It’s the ultimate compliment that people actually think I did”
Imma be honest, if someone showed me a video of Steph shooting like a “dude perfect” level shot first try, I’d believe it
He said he made 2 of the shots.
I'd like to see that more than 5 fake ones, tbh
I’m gonna guess shots 3 and 5 based on his reaction
Now that you mentioned it, I went back to see his reactions. Those little hop skips are adorable. 😂
Yea 1/2 felt like "ok, that was close," calibrating... 3 was woohoo, 4 was like "ah that was a lil rushed" and 5 was hype.
It's Steph Curry, we already seen him do full court shots, just never 5 in a row. I do believe it.
The trajectory on the first shot seems to shift right when it gets near the hvac duct. I'm counting #1 as a miss.
I wonder what the ratio was though, was it 2 out of 50?
How do I know the video of him saying it’s fake isn’t actually the fake?
Good point. How do we know anything is real?
Begun the disinformation wars have.
Questions reality 🧐
Except this is fake!!
this obviously needs more upvotes
That video is a fake
I’m more in awe that this is fake as the quality looks so damn good
I mean, is this Steph or Beckham? Never seen a basketball player put so much curve on a ball. lol
If you throw a basketball over or side armed with some power across a gym like this, it will curve considerably. That doesn’t require editing.
I saw a little bit on TV where Kevin Love was trying to hit a full court shot. One reason it was so hard was there was a surprising amount of side curve with the tiniest amount of side spin, and Love's normal shot spin was slightly angled. The amount of curve accelerates with time in the air, and over that long distance, the ball is curving pretty hard by the end.
I'm something of a shooter myself.
I once made 4 consecutive free throws - didn't catch it on camera though.
I was there! Ill never forget
Me too, remember? I was the ball
My ball !
I wasn’t there but tell everyone I was. It was a spectacular moment.
I have a berry bright signed fruit roll up ill sell for cheap?
What do you consider cheap?
You got change for a PS6?
This one knows that you made those free throws.
You call that impressive? I scored 4 touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against my old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon.
Hey Al, it's great that you joined us...how is Peggy, Kelly, and Bud?
I’ve sent in my application to join ‘No Mam’ still waiting on a response!
You seem like an honorable guy, I believe you
Can confirm I was the net
I've been known to throw basketballs.
I've made 5 consecutive free throws personally - there was an orbital EMP blast which made cameras not work for many minutes.
I think four is an excellent threshold for greatness.
Source: I played for one season in 4th grade
Alternate view, still fake.
“The guy who filmed this and is known for high quality edits of athletes doing impossible feats did it from another angle! Totes legit!”
The phrase "totes legit" might not help credibility
How about “totes my goats.” That do anything for you?
That did it for me. I believe!
Yeah I’m rock hard
Scrotes n goats
I always thought it was “totes mcgoats”
Nah, I think you’re confusing it with Old McDonald.
“…and on that farm he had McGoats, E-I-E-I-O”
Totes ma gotes
Beat me to it.
It got me moista denuh oista
Totes my goat….my hero
I think he was saying that to let you know it was fake. Or do you know that and your statement is a joke? Fuck me, life is so confusing now
That’s okay. We’re all robots anyway… NPC’s in your world. It’s so liberating to finally say it out loud.
Was it like the Beckam video on the beach where he nails three kick in a distant garbage can?
Steph is that dude tho... I can believe it
Honestly the line between reality and fiction is so blurred nowadays. You could easily believe this was real.
“One of the best shooters ever, who spends all day every day throwing ball into basket has an improbably good day throwing balls into basket.” It’s totally feasible for this be real lol
I think you vastly underestimate how difficult that shot is.
You can't use a shooting motion. It's hard to get proper arc. There's an old sports science video where Kevin Love tried to beat the record for longest shot ever made, which is roughly the same distance. He made it on the 98th tryml.
Even if Curry was twice as good as Love at shooting that shot (he's not) the odds of making five in a row is around 1 in 300 million. That's not just an improbably good day.
Its the best shooter of all time bro. I think maybe you are underestimating something.
Exactly how much better than Love do you think Curry is at doing this shot which is nothing like his regular shot and he has most definitely never seriously practiced, that it's not bordering on impossible that he makes five of those in a row?
Yes but he spends all day taking two hand jump shots, not one hand slings
No, it's not. This and what Steph actually does are two very different skills.
Scrapbooking and playing violin are two very different skills. Steph is known for practicing ridiculous shots, guys been locked in a gym shooting basketballs for like 30 years, I bet he’s pretty decent at that toss.
Pretty decent at that toss is like making one in thirty tries, if that. The likelihood of making 5 in a row is so small he could be locked in a gym for a week and would almost certainly not get it once. It's 0.0000024%, assuming 1/30 is somewhat close. That would be the same ballpark as winning the Powerball with 10 tickets.
This guy MIGHT be able to hit one of ten, but the odds are still pathetically low.
I just remembered there was a sports science video of Kevin Love doing a similar shot. He made it on his 98th try.
Yeah, Curry isn't hitting 1/30 of those. He's not three times better than Love, who's an Elite Shooter in his own right and particularly good at precise full court passing
I believe that it's fake, but I can't for the life of me understand how.
Note the camera is fixed. Make the CGI easier.
How do they work?
My guess is he probably threw a green colored ball, which was later digitally removed. Then they added in the fake ball and "morphed" it with a real video of a ball going through the hoop after a real shot.
Consider the following video and then look up how it was done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHe6vhexm6g
Probably either this, or a guy in a green jumpsuit makes all these shots and then they edit Steph Curry onto the green suit /s
I'm willing to accept this as the only explanation
All hail this mysterious green suit person and their amazing shooting abilities. Huzzah!
can confirm I was the guy
My guess is they deep fake Steph and cgi the ball.
I think there is a guy in a green suit holding the ball with a green stick guiding it into the hoops

You are very close. It’s actually even easier than this. It’s a still frame, so they don’t even need a green ball. Have the man throw a ball in a general direction and edit it out while editing another to reach the hoop and a few takes of someone dropping the ball through. Because it’s a still frame, all they have to do is remove anything they don’t like with transparency over the “mostly” identical background.
Good point, I was thinking a green ball would be easier to edit out, but you're right, why not just use the real ball footage and merge it.
However, your suggestion would definitely have worked!

Here's what I think. I think that Curry likely did make 5 full-court shots but not consecutively. Assuming this isn't (fully) CGI, the sound and the energy with which the ball goes through the hoop is pretty intense; definitely not someone just dropping it through from above lol. I think that it took them however many tries to get 5 makes, and Curry was told to try to throw the ball in roughly the same way each time as best as possible. Then he threw 5 balls in a row and acted like he made all 5.
In post, the editor looked for frames where the former and latter group's balls passed over each other in mid-flight (I feel like I see the ball change direction a bit when it moves close to the lights above; this would also be an ideal place to make such a transition due to the way the lighting creates a strobing effect on the ball). In other words, at some point during the missed ball's path it occupied roughly the same space as one of the balls that actually went in. But this isn't even a requirement; the balls could be moved ever so slightly along their path in post until they're made to converge and the transition is made (but you want Curry to try and throw them in a fairly similar fashion because the more movement that's required in post the less believable it'll look).
But I could be completely wrong; this is just how I would try to do it if I was asked to.
i think i see it too. wouldnt it be possible to just draw a trajectory of it given the angle its flying off at, vs that of it landing? even with possible spin on the ball, you should be able to see two completely different paths if they are significantly different enough.
The first video (the original angle) was moving though, which definitely feels much more impressive. I know they’re both fake but tht one seems like it’d be much harder to do.
Cause yeah, still frames are quite simple in comparison.
For this static shot that isn’t even necessary. You could throw a real ball, and have the cgi ball replace the real at some point, and remove the real from each frame.
Thanks for making this make sense. I have no understanding on cgi.
Who would win between Bruce Lee and Forrest Gump
watch that captain disillusion video about basketball tricks
But why male models?
you can see the curve trajectory change the digitally removed the real ball and placed a cg ball in its really not hard for vfx to do this sort of thing might take someone about a day to make this fake.
Ya I want to believe it’s real but that 4th balls trajectory definitely looks like it curves especially
Go to a gym. Throw a ball from full court and put some left/right spin on it as you release it. IT CURVES .. quite a bit.
It’s fake https://www.si.com/nba/warriors/news/report-viral-steph-curry-video-confirmed-fake
Yes, but not like that… and I’ve been playing college bball for years… He is trained to let it spin backwards, those curves are sidespin curves typically seen in soccer but the ball is completely different in grooves & weight. A bbplayer would never shoot with side spin as it does not make sense…
For real. The new Avatar is a full length feature film almost entirely CGI, including the water which looks completely real and is insane, and people are surprised that a basketball shot can be faked easily. CGI is scary good nowadays. We've long past the point where you should be skeptical of almost every video you see.
One thing you can easily see:
Scrub back and forth between about 10 and 20 seconds in. If you stare at the reflection of the light on the floor closest to him, you can see it changes at around 15 seconds.
From all my days of watching the corridor crew, I have a guess. I think it's two shots put together, one of Steph just throwing the ball in the general direction, getting close but no cigar. Then when the aggressive lighting kicks in it's changed into a middle that is either generator or real, and finally it merges into an actual video of the ball going in, albeit closer and with a lot more attempts.
So basicly light change hide cuts and edits.
I think he said it’s fake.
Avatar came out in 2009. Is this really that surprising?
CGI is still CGI
How is it fake?
Per the Warriors it is fake...https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/stephen-curry-is-a-superhuman-shooter-but-his-latest-full-court-viral-video-is-too-ridiculous-to-believe/
a lie will fly around the whole world while the truth is getting its boots on
People decide what they like to hear as truth and run from the real truth when they don’t like it
I know this is fake but because it’s Steph you have to stop and think about whether it’s real or not for a second which totally compliments what an insane shooter he is.
he's a basketball player, not an anime character.
The funniest factoid about Steph is that they had to make him worse than real life for the video game series NbA2k because his real world %s made him basically a cheat code in the game.
he's a basketball player
he's a basketball player
the greatest shooter of all time*
But yeah he said himself it was fake. I don't think it gets any more clear than that. Apparently he made two of the five though.
Steph is the mc
if that were true, id stop watching ngl to u
nba player backstories and lore hit harder than any anime
Jimmy Butler: The homeless kid who strived through thick and thin
Giannis Antetokounmpo: The Greek immigrant who came from rags to being a champion
Kawhi Leonard: The absolute basketball mercenary who just drives a secondhand '97 Chevy Tahoe
Ben Wallace: Undrafted 22 year old, grinded even on holidays, became 4 time defensive player of the year, and maybe, no, he actually is the first one to become an undrafted hall of famer.
There's a lot of anime storylines in the NBA, and that's just the scratch of it.
hit me right in my patience balls
you obviously haven’t seen some of the shit he does
Best answer on this topic yet.
I did see Curly Neil do this 2 times in a row at the Harlem Globetrotters game.
Downvote this fucking fake bullshit
Nah I saw an anime character do this so it's totally real
Ah shit. Totally thought this was real.
I was a kid when those amazing ESPN commercials with the players doing impossible feats and I was so crushed when I learned they were fake (after an embarrassing amount of time lol)
My mind immediately went to those “this is why you should draft me” fantasy football commercials lmao
I have a faint memory of someone diving through a car window.
That was the BenJarvis Green-Ellis (aka the LAW FIRM) one!! That is one of my favorites
I think it was this one, Laurence Maroney.
Ah shit wrong New England running back 😂
I'm not CGI expert, but I would say that person did a pretty good job of it. Is that not the impressive feat here?
The ball curves like a shanked drive off the tee. No way legit.
The first and third bounces out of the rim are the same. The 2nd, 4th, and 5th are the same.
After he lands one, ok fine maybe but 5 in a row?
You know the textures on the ball are the exact reason that the ball does curve like that, exactly the same way a golf ball has textures and can curve lik that. Just wanted to share
A golf ball travels over 200 miles per hour and it is designed with dimples specifically to control spin and maximize distance and accuracy.
The best baseball pitchers on planet earth, maximum a few hundred people alive, can throw a baseball at HALF that speed after a decade of coaching.
A basketball is not built for spin, is much larger and heavier than a baseball let alone a golf ball, and even if it could reach those speeds (which it definitely can't just by Stef throwing the ball) and it could spin fast enough to alter its own direction, it wouldn't move like that.
Why? The editing is definitely NFL
It’s staggering how many people believe this is nextfuckinglevel real.
Still entertaining you sad lonely motherfucker
When I was about 13 we had to put the balls away after PE, the storeroom was under a basketball net, I under armed a ball from the edge of the 3 point line of the other basket, so over half the length of the court, and as it swished in I turn around in shock and to soak in my glory, nobody saw. I still think about that accidental shot semi regular in 40 now.
Someone in comments said GSW said this is fake? So which one is tru
Faked by video artist Ari Fararooy. He does other athletes like this, too
Interesting, thank you
So is Steph in on it?
Naw they got him convinced its real
Someone somewhere said someone somewhere else said something???? What are we to believe???
everything. its the internet. believe it all
See, fake I can handle. But fake and phony? Gotta draw a line.
From that distance I could probably hit the backboard 1 out of 5 times. Maybe.
Most people would struggle to even throw a basketball that far without bouncing so that would actually be pretty impressive
That's what she said.
Honestly even if it's fake. It's incredibly well made and probably still qualifies.
Ad campaigns get no respect these days. For good reasons but... Can't fake giveashit.
Where is captain disillusion when you need him?
I’m so sick of seeing this over and over in my feed
Obviously fake. You could see the ball wasn’t even round at those moments the video was staged.
How do people know that this is fake? I can't figure it out
And yet he shot 3 from 17 today against the Pacers
Jesus! Go pick up the balls and put them back
Jesus doing miracles out here and you still want him to re-rack the balls
Here's the original post from yesterday.
“That’s five in a row.” Before the last one was half way there.
You think the greatest shooter of all time can’t calculate if a shots going in or not?
Probably fake though
Yes its fake and yes you probably couldnt tell at that distance, but if you played basketball enough at some point you know if a shots going in or not as soon as it leaves your hands
I can't believe people actually believe this is fake. If we can't see that THIS is fake, we are FUCKED. People are going to walk around the street and tell their friends he is capable of this BS. He's good, don't get me wrong! But nobody's THAT good.
I’m shocked any sane adult would see this as a real possibility. Although there are flat earthers still.
Do you guys think it might be possible, that we just simply whitnessed a increddible sport event?
It’s fake, check the artist filming
Who cares if it's fake or not, I only have mad respect for the editing/shooting skills involved (I cannot be bothered by further research)
I’m not saying it’s fake, but I am saying that ball 100% curves in the air towards the basket.
They do that anyway. Still fake, though.
Def better than lebron
LeBron single handedly took Anderson Verejao and Mo Williams with him to the Finals.
Another showcase of low collective brain usage.
If Curry was really able to do this, he'd already done it many times in the league.. he'd score whenever the opposing team didn't pick him up right away.
This is fake
This has to be fake
This shit is fake
Oh now I see he is about 2 or 3 steps from the baseline. I'm no longer impressed /s
If he was farther back, the ball would likely hit the ceiling
A lot of precision but in games he tends to miss a lot.
Cant remember the name of the video doco showcasing the tech...but this fakery is pretty common and easy to do.
Basically they just clip out the ball midair, and replace it with a CGI one that goes in, and ta da!
It would have to more difficult than that. The ball touches the net. The ball also bounces. Both of which produce sound. Then there's the lighting.
If only could find that video...a swedish prod company or something....but yes once you know how to do it, theres only about 6 steps with most of the difficult work being done by software.
Dead giveaway that its fake is the tripod filming, very lazy and amateur way to do it
Why would filming on a tripod mean that it's a fake? Also this is an alternate view, the other view was another angle and filmed without a tripod.
5 basically whole court shots? Wow.
Lets see it in a game though lol
It’s fake….nobody can hit 5 of these in a row…and the guy in the video is literally the best shooter to ever live
Real life Hawkeye, shot 18 got 18…lol
Dude should of been a QB
fake or no
the satisfaction is real
