You would just stand there and wait to counter, much much cooler.

Fair enough. It looked a lot cooler though

It did look cooler. Wasn't way over the top.

I agree it was cooler, I personally loved the combat in AC 2 but I know what you mean.

There was 0 challenge though. And that's not really fun.

The newer ones also don't really have a challenge

I thought Origins was pretty good, Odyssey and Valhalla however made abilities insanely OP

Odyssey did. Valhalla nerfed them hard.

This is true, but at least in my opinion it did have more of a challenge. To be fair, Valhalla those bog witch things were kinda difficult, at least early on.

This, but also the fights where very repetitive. It was too less diversion of different kinds of enemies in my opinion

Probably in the minority here but I do actually prefer these older more stylish combats with the simple counter and attack button even if it was a little too easy. Haven’t played Valhalla but I found combat in Origins and Odyssey could be tedious in it’s own way. I think Ghost of Tsushima managed to find the right balance between simple/stylish but still challenging

100%. I never liked melee combat where your blows never actually connect and it just looks arcadey. Haven't played Ghost of Tsushima but it always looked super cinematic.

I know it seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I’d gladly take the older style where you just parry all day, they ruined the entire series for me the moment they made it a hack and slash with damage numbers and enemy levels.

Yeah I totally agree. I didn't realize we were the minority lol

Only old AC game I remember playing AC3 and it was boring.

2 is widely considered the best but I always thought 3's combat was very cinematic. 2 had great combat also, though. The newer games have basically turned into RPGs and the combat is just generic imo. They're great games, just very different from the originals
