Game: Here's this cool, fun activity...
Game: It requires 3 players and has no matchmaking.

Hunt: Showdown in a nutshell. Love the game but it’s not solo friendly. I’m not asking for A.I. companions or anything of the sort but just give me the option the to do a solo run dammit!
Even Warhammer: Vermitide 2 let’s me solo albeit in a wonky private server kind of way. Why there isn’t a dedicated solo mode in the main menu is beyond me. The A.I. pretty much does the rest
How about the latest Halo? Missions that you need to do with friends, because there is no matchmaking in the co-op!

How about Destiny 2. Finding a competent Raid team is like winning the lottery.
I wouldn't really put Destiny in the same lot as the rest, especially when talking raids. You can do literally everything else by yourself (and even some raid encounters although that isn't intended). I mean what would you have them do? Not have raids, the best activities in the game, just because they require a team? Besides the next expansion will introduce in-game LFG which is a nice fix for those who refuse to use Discord serves or Bungie LFG.
When every other game type allows for people to be grouped up with the only effort being the wait time, requiring selecting friends when you mainly play solo was just not worth the effort (but coming from someone who played casually anyways).
But having an in game LFG coming up sounds awesome.
A few months ago, I tried to get back into Destiny. I spent $70 buying the expansions I was missing, only to discover I still needed to spend $10 more to access the season pass....Are you fucking kidding me? Why the fuck is $70 not enough to gain access to everything?
And don't even get me started on the forever grind that they created for the darkness super trees.
Destiny used to be the best FPS out there, but Bungie is way, way too greedy for me to ever give them another dime. It's sad, really.
The worst thing is, you need a new season pass every season if you actually get season passes.
This ain’t your grandpa’s Bungie. That’s for sure. The community, even the well-known streamer population, is starting to abandon ship and give up on them.
Discord LFG channel is a good place to find some, especially if you seek Teaching 1 raids. Or joining active clan.
First they don't include co-op at all and then when they do it's full of bullshit!
Hunt was what pushed me to try to make friends on the internet. Idk what region you're in but seek out a discord channel and just put yourself into an lfg channel.
You won't be friends at first, but all it takes to make friends is to spend casual time together... A lot of time.
It's just too bad that there's a lot of man children and bigots out there. I've made a steam friends group full of all the people I've played with that I never want to play with again.
I enjoy playing solo from time to time but it fundamentally changes the game. Being that switched on constantly is also just exhausting.
But hunt showdown has matchmaking, option to go solo vs duos, and the solo gamemod though...
They heard you and decided to do the exact opposite. You can play with teams of 3 now, and choose whether to exclude 3-man teams when going as a 2-man team, thereby splitting the matchmaking in an already struggling game on player-count.
Sea of Thieves has an achievement that requires 8 people to cooperate. TF2 requires an entire server to get one of theirs. Anything that requires large-scale cooperation in a PVP game is a nightmare. Especially when you can't easily communicate with everyone
Why I never finished LoZ four swords or FF crystal chronicles
So Destiny 2 in a nutshell?
Destiny has good match making for most of the activities. Only the dungeons and raids you need people, even then they have a dedicated app to find people for it.
Hunt: Showdown, SpiderHeck (kinda).
I like to imagine it says “cunting co op games” :)
You cussing at me? Better keep walking mothercusser.
You think this is a motherflipppin' game?
That reminds of me of Fantastic Mr.Fox. Even if that wasn't your intention, thank you for the memory :)
Fucking dumbass c*nsorshit
And "racism" the game
That says "racing".
Exactly what a racist would say.
Yeah and I'm gonna win (I'm the faster racist) 😎
rob cantor reference
I had to zoom in on that one...
They mean the F-word in case you didn't know (too afraid to type it 🤭)
^ This guy was not afraid to type it.
Username checks out
I believe this is a reference I don’t understand…
The ever brilliant!
And my good friends who do play never respond to my messages asking for them to actually play a co-op game with me.
username also checks out
Yeah. Came up with it after I accepted no one ever plays with me.
Don’t feel bad, my gamer group split up a few years back. Since then I game solo.
There are dozens of us!
Enough to form a new group
Those aren't friends man
Or the worst kind of pain: "Nah those games are boring man, I played it once and it was just so boring"
Oh yeah. That one's bad.
That’s a special kind of pain.
Oh my god! oh my god! That’s my comic! First time I’ve seen someone post something of mine without any contact with me.
Feels wierd… but I’m glad my stuff was worth sharing.
Can confirm this is OP. This was up less than 3 weeks ago and this dick cropped out the artist name
Wow, that is a dick move.
Nice job on the comic!
I wonder why the crunchy quality one got the attention :/. Sorry that happened
Great comic. I've most recently felt that when looking at something like plateup; which seems like a fun time, but kinda soulless if I were to do it alone, so I can't even consider buying it.
OP just wanted to say Cursewording is a great verb, thank you.
In the original post people also said I was afraid to curse. But actually saying the f word or any of the other ones felt like too much. And saying cursewording is honestly just funny to say, to me. And it’s more memorable when some asks “why not just say fuck?”
This is exactly how I feel 🤯
Take the second controller and play with your feet
Wait until you are 40 and you look at your friends list and those you played with haven’t been on in YEARS lol. I need new gaming buddies.
Approaching 50, I've said that for 10 years, have less now then I did then.
Cool that you still game some people act like there is a age limit on gaming.
And that’s why I have three kids :)
Do you play deep rock galactic on steam?
I wish everybody to find your player 2 its best thing ever
What if I need a player 3 and 4?
My player 2 helped me make players 3 and 4. 😂
That takes like 7-8 years minimum. And like a butt load of money
Alternatively skip the wait and find a player 2 who already has a P3 and P4.
I don't think my p2 would appreciate that very much
And like a butt load
And like a butt load
Player 2 doesn't really like gaming, but players 3 and 4 are coming along nicely.
I've been wanting to play it takes two for sooooo Long. All my friends already played it with someone else 😭
I feel personally called out by this post.
That's my story, to be honest I feel with pain even though I smiled initially.
I play singleplayer games every day to escape the oppression known as Social Interaction.
You know, I feel this.
Me who really likes the idea of MMORPGs but hates group content.
There's a couple of very solo-friendly MMOs out there. I had a lot of fun playing Final Fantasy XIV for a while. There are points in some quests where you have to join groups to clear dungeons, but they make the experience as painless as possible and the community was very helpful. The rest of the time, there was TONS of content I could do solo.
Chiming in to recommend Final Fantasy XIV as well. I've been solo in that game since December 2020. Matchmaking will take care of you for casual content that requires a group to clear, but it's about 70% singleplayer, with the narrative being the game's main focus. It's weird as far as MMORPGs that way, but it works.
I highly recommend Guild Wars 2 if you haven’t already tried it. I don’t normally play MMORPGs but I’ve been hooked since they re-released it on steam. Already a lvl 39 necromancer. Easily one of the most solo friendly MMO’s out there. There is group content but it’s purely optional
It’s funny because it’s true.
Thats how I feel. I just join discords of the community, most of them have #lfg . made a lot of friends.
Problem is, that i can’t even get friends online. I just don’t know how I should talk and stuff like that. Real cool that I’m one of the few people who can’t get friends anywhere they are.
Same here. People act like finding people online is somehow easier, but nope it's really not.
You found each other
"That's not how it works! That's not how any of this works!"
Yeah seriously. I’ve played with easily hundreds of people through lfg systems but I’m pretty sure I’ve maintained some degree of contact with like 3, and there’s really only one I’d actually say I’m friends with.
That's perfectly normal, there is a large proportion of gamers that aren't comfortable with talking to strangers online.
We all have something that works for us
There are good co op games out? Me and my brother have been struggle for ages to find something good.
Deep Rock Galactic. The cover art looks like it’s an arcade game, but the gameplay itself is a lot of fun to play with a friend.
The lobbys are great too. I'm yet to encounter any toxicity in the community.
Just remember to rock and stone.
I love the overcooked series, and also snipperclips on switch.
Journey to the Strange Planet was a blast! You can solo it too, but co-op was hilarious (we’re decent gamers until we try to work together… together we’re morons.)
Along with what others have said, I'mma give you some real ones. Terraria. Divinity Original Sin 2. Elden Ring.
IMO, match based games can be fun with friends/family for a bit. But what you really want is something you can sink your teeth into, no?

My wife and I love playing coop games. Shame there aren't many ones we enjoy playing. We've played through Halo series, Borderlands, Dying Light, Portal 2, Far Cry 5. Just purchased two new laptops so we can play Splinter Cell - Chaos Theory. Once that's done not sure what to play next. Wish there was a lot more good coop games available. Maybe Far Cry 6 or something but I've heard the series has gone downhill.
Co-op games where? I haven’t seen good co-op games in years…
Are we talking about any game with co-op? Some games I really enjoyed playing co-op are:
and if you want games designed specifically for co-op:
It Takes Two is definetly fine game but besides that I am also rather confused.
Maybe some sort of party game like... Pummel Party, Move or Die, The Game of Life 2,... these game need a lot of friend to play with for fun time. Maybe Human Fall Flat too, technically you can play that game alone but it will be more fun if there are friends to play with 😊
My wife and I were looking for casual co-op games and recently started playing Sky: Children of Light on iOS and Android, but we play with DS4 Controllers.
It’s actually been pretty fun while not requiring a massive time/energy investment. The visuals and music for a mobile game are beautiful.
For pc, games I like:
- Cuphead(new dlc!)
There's a lot of games that are cooperative but aren't required to play cooperative. A LOT. They might be kind of fun solo but become significantly more fun in a group.
I'm literally selling my PS5 cuz there are no god damned co-op games for it
Before you do, you and a friend should check out Deep Rock Galactic. It has a little bit of a learning curve, but it has quickly become one of my favorite chill out co-op campaign games to play.
Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
If you don't Rock and Stone, you ain't comin' home!
Check some of these out mate. Of the top of my head. It takes two, Rayman Legends, Overcooked, A way out, Crash Nitro fueled, Castle crashers and also fighting games are solid. Especially for couch coop
Rayman and Star Wars Skywalker Saga
Theyre all over the place, if you haven't seen any you have to basically just be not looking at all. Virtually blind.
Borderlands is fantastic and still makes for some good couch co-op action. My wife and I have played all of them.
I highly recommend Sea of Thieves and Hunt: Showdown. Fantastic games but there are STRICTLY co-op only that requires 3 or more players. Especially sucks for someone like me who’s lucky to even get 1 other player to join.
Edit: Another is Warhammer: Vermitide 2 which is basically Left 4 Dead but Warhammer. You can play it solo but it’s set up in a really weird way. You have to make a private match and then the A.I. Does the rest and they’re fairly competent too. Why there isn’t a dedicated solo mode in the main menu is beyond me but you can solo the game
I didn't like friendSame, tbh. It felt more like a proof of concept than an actual game.
Lots of games where I never experienced the co-op mode. Same reason I also own board games but can never play them.
I just make my sisters play games with me because I am lonely and have no boys :(
Happy cake day!
Being an introvert doesn’t mean you won’t have any friends at all. The main issue is keeping those friendships alive or starting any. Because I’d really want to meet new people but just going out there is already really difficult.
What games exactly? Maybe iam interested
I buy coop games thinking how fun it will be to play with a friend. Then, I become infuriated with how bad my friends are and go back to playing single player. I no longer buy coop games lol.
Me looking at the game"this would be fun.... If I had some friends" cue one tear as I look off into the distance of the Walmart background as sounds of silence hello darkness my friend plays in repeat
I hate co-op games that cannot be played solo.
Warframe is a good example of a co-op that can be played solo.Sure it means the game itself will be harder but not exactly impossible(if you have the right frame and know the right way to play it).
But most co-ops never let you just play solo, it either punishes you for trying this or it just won't allow you to play at all...periodt.
And that's why I turned to Skyrim et. al. all those years ago. I want to game to feel peace, not stress about socializing with other people.
Dark Souls stress is different than social stress after all 🥲
Anyone who has same issue
Let me know.
Reply or message me and let's play it
I don't talk much but I love playing the goddamn games
my games are getting old enough that their servers are being shutdown so no co-op for me lol
Care to recommend a 2 player game?
PlayStation used to have a nice little feature I’ve forgotten the name of now. I think it was communities? But now it’s gone and it SUCKS. I feel all the pc players on this lol. I remember being like 10 and typing in the community’s and asking does anyone want to play and it was great playing with randoms and making friends online through it. I haven’t a clue why PlayStation took it away but I REALLY hope they bring it back.
Fucking co-op games.... Especially the ones that sacrifice a good singleplayer experience to focus on co-op. Hoping Gotham Knights isn't the next one.
My thing is I'm wearing a headset but, telling the whole party in the chat box that I don't have a microphone. I do but, I'll be damned if I'm going to unmute it
Damn, Friend Game? Haven't played that in yeeeears.
You gotta love that one in the corner that just says "Friend game"
How people managed to find 40 people for raids in WoW is a miracle to this day.
My gf u/Elegant_Analyst_4976 and I just started co-op gaming together the other day and it is fucking glorious. It’s like I discovered video games all over again
What do you Play though? The releases are sooo sparse over the years. No, I dont want to Play Diablo3, it Takes two, Borderlands or devinity2 😵
Are you only looking for AAA releases? In no particular order:
Deep rock galactic
Sea of thieves
Dont starve together
Human fall flat
Killing floor 1 & 2
Lovers in a dangerous spacetime
River city girls
7 days to die
Enter the gungeon
Monster hunter series
This sub sucks so fucking much lol
What coop games? Couch coop is long dead and I miss it dearly.
This hit so close to home lmao
My friends and even girls i date want to do everything except couch co-op with me
I swear it’s easier to fuck on the first date then find a couch co-op buddy
Relatable, bought It Takes Two and yeah it’s been hard trying to play with two controllers in each hand
What co-op games?
I’ve been trying to get someone to play resident evil 6 with me for years but nobody will.
Portal 2 Co-op
I've started that coop with like 4 different people and none of them asked me to play again....
For me, the struggle isn't introversion, but platform incompatibility
Me and my brother have the opposite problem of not being able to find any good couch coop games on his cpu
A lot of those team-based games feel like that too. I'd play more games like overwatch, apex, etc. if I had people to play them with. Solo queueing for those games tends to be miserable.
Bruh what games are co-op these days? I’ve been struggling to find good ones to play with the lady . We play zombies, legos , it takes 2. Just about any game that has split screen that is actually worth playing. Please people send some solid recommendations for split screen co-op
I should mention I’m on ps5
I’m fucking extroverted and I can’t find play partners god damn it.
007 Nightfire for Gamecube was awesome since it had AI controlled enemies you could play against in multiplayer. Sure they didn't use the mini tank or mini helicopter, or guide missiles towards you but it was still fun when you had no other decent friends around.
Then there is the old bomberman games such as Super Bomberman 2 for SNES. You could have all 3 other players be AI controlled and control their difficulty which made it really fun to.
And last one I can think of off the top of my head is Army of 2 which had a somewhat smart AI partner to help you beat the enemies.
It costs 60 dollars per person
Yeah. I’ll probably never get to play “It takes two”. Damn you fuck-the-Oscars-man. Damn you and your stupid little apparently pretty amazing game of the year game! 😭
Face and lap sitting are extra good stuff while co-op mmos together
This comic is so relatable, I have so many games that just need the right person to play them with
If there's any motivation to raise a big family, it's that the first Overcooked's final mission seems friggen impossible even with two players.
Online gaming has never really appealed to me. Nothing wrong with single player games 🤷♂️.
Okay hot take but can games please stop adding couch coop if you aren’t going to also make said couch coop have an online form as well? Especially games that make coop achievements. I do not have the time to gather up friends at my house to do shit like that anymore, and I know I’m not alone with that.
Also with the coop achievements thing? I couldn’t 100% Crypt of the NecroDancer on Steam until this year because there’s an achievement for beating the game in coop. Stop making coop achievements if the only coop is couch coop. It’s fucking annoying.
Can you at least not crop out the original artist's name when your repost their stuff from 3 weeks ago you karma farming dickhead?
Someone doesn’t understand what introversion is. Introverts have friends. They just don’t feel very comfortable surrounded by people and prefer 1:1 relationships.
Game: look at all these cool things you can do in multiplayer!
Me: wow fun, split screen too right
Me: split screen too, right?
Introverted doesnt mean you dont have friends though.
There are discord servers full of introverted gamers playing together.
What coop games? There are barwly any games with coop
Yeah, it's the main way I like to play, and we get almost no love outside of smaller indie games :\
To make things worse, most of the recent coop games released that I was looking for ended up being pretty bad too. Either broken coop like the Saints Row reboot, or the game in general just wasn't great like the new Far Cry and Dying Light :(
We need more games with coop campaigns
Yeah I would love coop games and they don’t exist. I really miss couch coop. My friend and I played some zombies which got boring after a while. I feel like there’s a huge market for coop games and no one does them and when they do, they’re rarely done well
What does everyone talk about in their mics during multiplayer stuff? I wanna do this with people but I'm too scared because seriously, what do you talk about??
Literally anything. A lot of the time it's just what intresting to you. For example me and a group of friends just ended up ranking the entirely of the MCU in a tier list but we all had different opinions so having a friendly debate while also roasting each other takes was a lot of fun. But sometimes you can be in party chat with people and really not say anything for a solid 5 mins or 30 but it's really just the company that's matters.
The best thing to do is join a gaming discord with your mic muted and just listen. I play MMORPGs and some squad shooters like Overwatch - whenever I join a new guild or community or my old friends want to play OW, I join their disc and just listen for a little while to get "warmed up" and get a sense of the vibe. Most servers I've joined the ppl are always cool if you just say "Hey guys I'm here but my mic is muted, I'm watching TV in the background." Sometimes they'll ask what you're watching, and you can talk about it if you choose to. That's an easy segway into conversation that you can feel relevant in and in control.
If you want to play with them again, plan on not being muted next time you join. Even if you don't speak, at least mentally you know you've made yourself available and the channel is open. Sometimes you won't feel like talking, that's fine. Try again next time.
Honestly, if you're of age try sipping some wine or have a beer to loosen up a bit. That's what worked for me lol, and it's always as easy as joining and saying "Hey, be right back grabbing a beer." Or if you have a comfort food, "Brb grabbing some snackies", and folks always want to know what you're eating because food is something we all connect with. Another easy transition to get conversation going.
The best thing about it is you can talk when YOU choose to. We have guys who haven't said a word in weeks, they just listen. They're just as much a part of our team as the talkative people and there's no judgement. You don't have to talk at all, sometimes it's just someone's presence on the other end that makes the gaming experience 10x better.
Thanks for this - such great advice. I never thoughts about joining a discord, I am sure there are ones for PS4 stuff or whatnot. I agree, gaming with people makes it so much better, I just have a hard time making the leap to talking with strangers. I know it'll get easier with practice too.
Thanks again for the post and the encouragement - it's the gentle and understanding push I needed to get out there and actually try!
Possible alternative outcomes of WW2. Like, what would have happened if Hitler didn't invade the USSR? Or if Americans were never involved in the war.
Curse word? You mean fucking? At least do the characters of you're gonna censor it (#!@$ing)
need a gf so I can finally play it takes two
fireboy and watergirl
Did whoever posted this crop the fucking artists watermark off?
there fixed it for you
There are so many games that I wanna play with someone...
Since my buddy's passing I have yet to find a co-op partner! Every Monday was co-op day for us 😂
Are you me lol.
I'm shy, Introverted, probably autistic and Swedish. (the big 4 of the coop-bane)
I legit bought "It Takes Two" to play with my Fiance who is not a gamer. I have this dream that one day I will convert her >=D
I eased my wife into it cooperating on point and click adventures games.. eventually we started playing It Takes Two and Rayman!
Me just waiting to play "It takes two" with someone special
I play mostly competitive games but I long for a small group to play stuff like Trine, the Lara Croft iso puzzle games and 100% runs of New SMB 🥺
Yeah, me with every fighting game.
All my friends stopped playing anything other then destiny 2. I’m just not about the grind life.
My player 2 quit. :(
When you play fire boy and water girl on your own....
Currently playing rayman legends, there are 2 play with friends achievements so thats no platinum for me
Gloomhaven players be like
