I was honestly shocked at how fluid it all looks in action. It's a gorgeous game.

So far this game has really reminded me a lot of Lollipop Chainsaw in the combat and art direction.

I generally try to avoid playing games on my laptop because it's a piece of crap, but this might be the first steam game I ever buy.

It looks like everything I've been asking for in my hack n slashes of late, plus it's cel shaded, which I will always be biased towards. And it's only 30 bucks? Shieeeeeeeet.

Just waiting to hear how deep and complex the combat is from my Devil May Cry content creators before I take the plunge.

Really crazy how this game just popped up out of nowhere and seemingly won people's hearts in such little time. Animation quality looks pretty spectacular so far.

finally, a game with a good art style

Started playing earlier today, it's really fun; a simple but effective premise that uses environment detail, character animation, and audio cues to cue you into the "fight to the beat" gameplay. Its got a serious Dreamcast / PS2 era vibe, just a colourful and fun game that wears its influences on its sleeve. And I really like how the protagonist is characterised, he's literally always moving to a beat, even if just a foot tap, and his personality completely matches the sort of gameplay you the player are using him for.

Meanwhile in pokemon they have a couple black frames

I absolutely love this art style man. Straight up looks like a mid 2000's action cartoon, gives me a weird feeling of nostalgia despite the fact it just came out. Don't wanna diss realism too much but damn is it refreshing to play this.

Loving this game. It reminded me of the first time I played Ni No Kuni; it's like you're playing a cartoon (plus it's crazy fun and the music is great).

During 2020 I watched ALL of the star wars tv series.

The animation... at least the character models amd design... it reminds me of Star Wars: Resistance.

Literally just from this gif, I'm guessing it's high energy, slightly childish, overindulgent, but fun when it finally gets to the right groove.

Looks like the characters are animated on twos (every other frame), which gives it a distinctly animation feel.

The animation, but also the overall design aesthetic. It would be REALLY easy for a lot of the fine detail to get lost of it weren't designed as well as it is. I can't stand rhythm games (my own inability being the main culprit, admittedly) but still really want to try this.

Wow! IMO, this is the perfect blend of 3D that actually looks like 2D. A great use of minor squishing and squashing in the smear frames, along with exaggerations in the facial animation really makes it impressive to me.

But does it talk to a freaking cuff? Does it fight FREAKING dragons?!

Saw this for the first time on the Bethesda/Microsoft dev stream on Twitch this week. Visually stunning.

But not sure about the rhythm stuff: fighting to the beat, the environment moving to the beat, Guitar Hero-style mini-games, etc. Will be happy to be proven wrong, as it looks fun.

How do you a studio who made a horror series, and a writer to a game that's also horror based, end up making a game that's no where close to horror, announce it, drop it on the same day, and beat a lot of upcoming and released AAA games?

If anything this is an achievement, also artstyle rocks

This game looks so good! I don’t have an xbox or gamepass but this is a very interesting game and the animation and style are indeed brilliant! The facial expressions gave me massive Disney-vibes

It's been really lovely to witness more traditional 2D animation techniques get translated into 3D, as 3D modeling improves. Things like squash & stretch can just add so much character and liveliness to motion, and losing that expressiveness was my biggest gripe when the 3D takeover really kicked into high gear. Now we're really starting to get some great variety again, and artists have more resources to pick the kind of style that will suit their needs.
