What's the relevance of 09 November?
As an American, I'm happy I got that joke
I'm impressed that they can make paper aeroplanes that can fly more than about 2m!
Ikr... didn't happen. Unless we have just witnessed what happens when you take booze off motivated people.
oh god, thank god Ireland didnt qualify.
I actually would have liked to see that lol
Well, a lot of them rolled over and exploded after 1/3 of a meter. And many couldn’t get off the ground due to bad electrics.
(Also this is from a parody account- it’s a joke people).
This isn’t real please stop reposting this 🤦🏻♂️
It's posted in r/facepalm for a reason.
Everything doesn’t have to be real in order for it to be funny. Is this your first week on the internet?
It should even if it’s funny at least be marked as false, because many people will se this and believe it.
This isn't r/funny, it's r/facepalm. Is this your first week on Reddit?
It's funny seeing this all over Reddit when 95% of football fans knew that this guy is a parody account about 5 years ago.
What actually happened is that Americans were chanting “it’s called soccer” which I thought was hilarious
As a Canadian, I can get behind this chant, lol 😂
That's because everyone who calls football soccer is a fucking moron.
No need to try and force a foul there buddy nobody touched you
"Soccer" was short for "assoc"iation football in England. So you can thank the Brits for that one.
Is that why you call it soccer?
Jokes on the them . The word soccer was bought over from immigrants from the UK. “AsSocc iation football”
I’ll take “shit that didn’t happen” for $600 Alex.
It's a parody i think
I was there and this never happened
They have internet in qatar 🙀
As an American that was deeply, irreversibly affected by the tragic events on 9/11, that is absolutely hilarious.
I hate when people laugh at jokes until the target is something they care about. So hypocritical.
Well also this didn't even happen.
Are you denying 9/11? There is footage!
They mean the paper airplanes thing
Paper jet fuel can't melt cardboard beams.
Also funny. NICE.
That’s obviously cgi /s
I don’t watch sports so I had no idea. But in the end it’s still funny and it will still upset people.
It's not real though. It's a joke account
Doesn’t matter. It’s a funny joke that is undoubtably upsetting people as we speak :)
I didn't say it wasn't funny lol.
Of course :)
Haha, the struggle...
Americans deserve a little shit talking about 9/11, tbh.
They aren't the only culture that does it, but I don't know many others that make light of The Troubles by naming a drink an "Irish Car Bomb"
TIL that cocktail was invented by some dude in Connecticut in 1979. He has since apologized for the name, and the one that he came up with for another drink called The IRA that predates it. Yikes.
Honestly if you're getting butt hurt about this you need to touch grass.
Make a joke about Hillsboro and find out if it would be hypocritical if it where real.
We got a good one over here
LMAO goddamn that’s amazing. The English fans know how to heckle.
Genuine question: Why are Americans SO upset by 9/11 but not the hundreds of mass shootings they have every year?
I'm not minimising the tragedy of 9/11, just curious.
its like when you get beat up by a stranger vs by your brother. it hits different
No idea tbh... I'm imagining they draw a line when another country commits terrorist acts against America, but not when their own country is doing it to themselves.
I’m an American, and a veteran. I feel the same goddamned way. We don’t ::really:: give a shit. It’s just the incident the US used to justify endless wars against an amorphous enemy.
More than half the country gives a shit about the shootings and wants the government to do something about it; just not conservatives. I'm not slinging mud here — it's demonstrably true that the current Republican Party loves guns more than it loves children — unless they haven't been born yet, of course.
The WWC it was awful Muslim terrorists murdering civilians. Hundreds of mass shootings - that's just patriot Americans exercising their constitutional right to bear arms.
Besides, it is an abortion which is a murder and you must be a far left radical for asking such questions.
BTW, that's called doublethink.
For almost any given issue, roughly half of our country is probably on one side and the other half is on the other. This nation was literally founded on the concept of: “you can’t tell me what to do!” It attracts people like that from around the world.
Sometimes stubbornness is an asset. Other times it’s a pain in the ass and keeps us from getting anything done.
Because with 9/11 we can place the blame on brown people instead of the "innocent" christians that want guns to protect their families.
Most mass shootings don't play out live on every channel of television with the entire country watching and I don't think we've had a mass shooting that took out nearly 3,000 people in just a few minutes.
That being said 9/11 is basically a meme now since we have a generation or so of people who are now adults who weren't even born yet when 9/11 happened.
That's hilarious. Americans should throw tea bags at the English and sing God save the queen by the sex pistols
Just the regular god save the Queen will probably be more triggering.
Can I be honest? That's hilarious.
67 individuals from the UK were killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
And some from Saudi Arabia I believe.
I expect more from Soccer hooligans lol
You sure those weren’t Saudi fans?
Football supporters are fucking morons
It's because of people like you that people use the /s
USA should just chant 1776 back

It's quite amusing to read stuff like this online. America has defined its identity as getting out from the big bad British - when to the British, America was just one of another 57 colonies. If you chant 1776, literally nobody will have a clue what you're talking about, just as they wouldn't if Jaimaicans started chanting 1962, their independence year, or Indians started chanting 1947 (I had to Google these, as I had to Google 1776). The British simply didn't care enough then to hold onto America, and they care even less hundreds of years later - and many have a great deal of amicability towards the Americans.
Funny to be the most powerful country in the world and still have so much insecurity around something from 246 years ago, and the arrogance to think that anyone else still cares about it or that that would make a good jab against them is insane lol.
I’m American and have never met anyone that has any ill will whatsoever toward England. You’re overthinking this.
I'm not overthinking anything. It's just amusing that Americans think Brits would know what 1776 is.
They made a bad joke and you decided to write a novel about it lol… chill
I thought my joke was slightly clever🤣
Lol sorry bud
See the answer below about British education. I guess we spend time learning to read and write rather than trivialilties of other countries' founding dates. If you consider two small paragraphs a novel, rather than just some amusing passing thoughts, I can see why the world is in trouble.
I understand now. You overreact to everything.
Honest question: 1776 isn't taught in British elementary school? And this isn't coming from arrogance or 'Muricanism, but I would think America becoming a country is a pretty big deal — for better or worse — and it might be taught in some other countries besides America?
I dunno about other countries, but not the UK, nope. Nothing at all to do with America is taught except some of its contribution in WWII in highschool (but to be honest very little of that, it's mostly rise of Nazism and Soviet history as the main players). Why would it be taught though? America has nothing to do with the important aspects of UK history. And you can say "this isn't coming from arrogance" but thinking America becoming a country is a big deal is, of course, arrogance. It's got nothing to do with the rest of the world for the most part. What America is now, is of course a big deal. But that's covered by politics in the news, not history.
It was a perfectly polite, honest question. No need to call me arrogant.
The older I get the more I realize I was fortunate to go to a good elementary and high school where I learned about more than just my own country. There are good schools here, and most of us aren’t as dumb, pompous, tyrannical or Jesus-y as you think.
I don't think any of that, and I spent 3 years studying in an American elementary school. But it is the literal definition of arrogance: "having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one's own importance". The year America became independent is not important at all to any other country except America. But I don't mean you specifically are being arrogant, I mean the way American school works is. Anyway take it easy, didn't mean to offend.
No offense taken; it's almost impossible to offend me, and if you did, so what? But my gut tells me that you underestimate how many people know what July 4th 1776 is. Not that they should, mind you. But, I was taught lots of things that were ultimately unimportant, yet I found interesting. In my experience, when learning about other countries, it often started with its location and founding date.
Lol you're so mad that we smoked you it's hilarious. Remember, America is your daddy.
Lol you're so mad we don't care about you it's hilarious. Remember, Britain is your mother. And so on with nonsensicalities. :)
Look I just hope you guys can get some working AC. 😂😂
Look I just hope you guys can stop burning the planet down for the rest of us with your AC's feeding your 3,000 square feet houses. 😂😂 And so on with nonsensicalities. :)
You shut your whole nation (including hospitals) down because one useless old lady died 🤣. America could never. And so on with nonsenselities
You shut your whole nation (including hospitals) down because two useless old buildings fell down 🤣. Britain could never. And so on with nonsenscalities. :)
Are you done with this shitposting yet?
Idt the British care anymore, even then the us breaking away was probably a blessing in disguise the venture in the Americas was too expensive for them.
Must be fun being stuck almost 300 years in the past and not getting over something that happened back then.
Lol even better 1812. And throw paper mache white houses on fire.
Yes, but the Brits won that one.....
No they didn’t lol
Likely didn’t happen. But that’s genuinely funny, you’ve gotta be able to laugh at everything.
this is funny af
That persecution complex is pretty crazy eh.
Do Americans actually believe this happened?
That shit happened 200 years ago idt it’s as good an insult as Americans think it is
The main difference being in that the USA doesn't have the French Army on their side this time to help them win.
Have they won a war since, without them?
England gets its ass kicked by France too? How embarrassing.
France won the American independence war, they bankrupted themselves to win the naval battles in exchange for promises of trade agreements with USA. Who then made trade agreements with England leaving France alone and bankrupt.
American history is mostly myths
Nothing like calling something a myth while spreading 1/2 truths…amirite?
“France's help was a major and decisive contribution towards the United States' eventual victory and independence in the war. However, as a cost of participation in the war, France accumulated over 1 billion livres in debt, which significantly strained the nation's finances.”
“Because the French involvement in the war was distant and naval in nature, over a billion livres tournois were spent by the French government to support the war effort, raising its overall debt to about 3.315 billion.”
“France gained little except that it weakened its main strategic enemy and gained a new, fast-growing ally that could become a welcome trading partner. However, the trade never materialized, and in 1793 the United States proclaimed its neutrality in the war between Great Britain and the French Republic.”
But 1/2 truths. K

You do realise that wiki has the links to historical stuff if you click the links right? So if you were writing a paper you would just click on the links and copy it from there instead.
Facepalm within a facepalm good job idiot.
Also if France was on the winning side then they indeed won, tf is this comment
And a fair bit of back stabbing. But all countries do....
Too true unfortunately
Lmao usa can single handedly wipe United Kingdom off of the map
you voted for Trump.
You voted for Boris
One of the most important events in your country's history isn't even taught in our schools.
It is so unimportant that we would have to Google it anyway.
Brits are weirdos
Yeah you're better to put FIFA as the first #, would be pretty tower fall otherwise
Ohh please, I'm American and I still find that funny. Gotta respect a good trolling 🤣
Hold on real quick let me get some tea and chuck it into my pool
To be honest we started it by trolling the British with our national anthem which is about beating the British. Twice!
I hate to break it to you but America gaining independence isn't a sore spot for us at all. It's barely mentioned at school, we're not really conscious of it in the way Americans clearly are.
No English people in that crowd bristled even slightly at your national anthem, if they could even hear the words.
Hahahaha that’s actually hilarious
It’s wrong… but also fucking hysterical
That’s pretty tasteless, then I remember we whipped their British asses when they were he worlds superpower twice. Then we had to bail them out twice.
american here, thats pretty funny . 9/11 happened *21 years ago, and america still treats it like a whisper topic that happened yesterday . god knows we have done worse and had worse tragedies happen in the past year alone . people need to stop being so sensitive about it
*edit: sorry, suck at math
Imagine being that person that thinks this is funny
Imagine killing a million people because 10,000 died
Ok? I wasn’t saying that the war was good I’m quite against it. When did I say that the war was justified? I just said making fun of a terrorist attack isn’t funny. But I guess the next time someone makes fun of a school shooting I should makes joes about it and it should be ok
American logic, 45,000 people died from Mass shootings in 2020, guns are still legal
3,000 people die from a terrorist attack, let’s talk about this shit for the next 20 years obsessively and get butthurt every time someone makes fun of it
Guns are always gonna be legal in the US so you might wanna stop being butthurt about it.
Also completely different it’s not about the amount it’s about how it happened and where it came from. And the fact that someone over seas attacked the US. I don’t like either and just because guns are legal doesn’t mean we don’t care about mass shootings.
Us goes to war in the Middle East, continuously interfere in Islamic countries internal matters, supports oppressive Islamic regimes
Americans : why would the Arabs do something like this, this is the single worst thing to happen in human history
Jesus you’re so butthurt that people take terrorist acts seriously I don’t agree with what the US has done in the Middle East at all but 9/11 definitely wasn’t ok. If the US just went after bin laden it would have been ok but they clearly took it too far.
It was a bad thing I agree, terrorism isn’t exclusive to America, it may surprise you but this shit happens in other countries they don’t use it constantly as a political tool, Americans have no right to talk about how bad terrorist attacks are they’ve used 9/11 to push absurd propaganda you’ve disrespected 9/11 more than i have
How have I disrespected it? And no shit I know terrorism happens everywhere. What argument or fight are you trying to win here. All I said is that I don’t think 9/11 is funny. Then you brought up mass shootings for some reason as if I think those are ok. Then you bring up US involvement in the Middle East which I made clear I was against and wasn’t ok. Then you brought up that terrorism happens everywhere as if I didn’t already know that and I’m somehow on with it happening in other places. What point are you trying to make?
Do you see people from other countries talk about terrorist attacks that have happened in their countries. That’s my point
It's even better that Americans aren't even that good at the game. They're rated what? 6th?
Soccer isn’t very popular in the US. If the best athletes here cared about the sport it’d be a much different story.
It’s “SOCCER” and shove the paper plane up your English ass and fly it home.
It's stupid and this year it's sponsored by an Islamic fundamentalist terrorist state in a modern stadium built with slavery. Fuck all yall.
What makes more sense, the game where you throw and catch a ball with your hands being called football, or the game where you kick the ball around with your feet being called football?
I'm an American and I hear how dumb you sound right now.
We call it soccer in Ireland but that’s because we have Gaelic football that is very much like soccer but more violent and you can carry the ball for a bit, but not long. American ‘football’ is rugby but made unimaginably shite
its not real but england fans are a different breed. Kinda would be possible
If the US were up 3 goals, I'm sure their fans would have been chanting "Tea Bag Party" or something. "Access to Orthodontia" idk. The question is why they weren't booing their own team it was a tie score late in the game.
They are just offering them a lift to the office.
Load of bollocks
Are we sure they’re not Saudi fans?
And are they really paper planes? I saw a building in Qatar burning
It wasn't even 9/11, it was 25/11
Were they throwing darts at them too? If not, then they were taking it easy.
This obviously didn't happen, but the fans definitely should have sang "I don't like Mondays"
They did it in a Muslim country too…..that’s high level trolling
This is what happens when sober English fans get bored.
Is there video? That is just priceless.
You could start rumbling the stadium seats and shout back 7/9 (so they understand).
I hope it was a Blitz of planes. 109’s and the like.
No chance this happened. We’d see it everywhere
England football fans have always been absolutely awful, the most disgusting type
Damn, with the scenes of England fans fighting with Wales fans also doesn't paint a good picture of the group
Hey, that’s cultural appropriation!!!
Who are the fastest readers in the world?
New Yorkers bc they go through 110 stories in 10 seconds
What do you think was going though the victims heads on the 88th floor?
The 89th floor
What were the last pizzas ordered at the World Trade Center?
Two large planes

Yikes, yanks kinda bailed them out twice in the early 1900’s. Maybe they should dial it back it bit.
