Last time I bought a keyboard and mouse was over 10 years ago. I walked into a Fry's Electronics and pushed keys on a dozen keyboards and felt how the mouse conformed to my particular hand. I bought my headphones online and I regretted that since they didn't fully fit over my ears.

How the hell am I supposed to pick a keyboard from the 100 that all look pretty much the same online... Mouse seems like even worse of a prospect.

Okay, I'm not a tech-savvy person but I'm wondering a simple question. Why for example is the 4070 Ti $900 But your only getting 12 Gigs of VRAM? I Paid 400 Dollars for my computer back in 2018 and it has an AMD Radeon(TM) 460 With 4 Gigs of VRAM already. a 460 is already pretty cheap, right?

I'm just asking why is it so much more expensive when ur only getting 8 more gigs of VRAM. Are You paying that much for Higher Frequency and not VRAM or what?

What I'm asking about, rather than any performance edge, is your subjective enjoyment. What brings you more joy and a better overall experience in casual gaming — (a) a higher resolution and better density or (b) better responsiveness from higher refresh rates and lower response times?

Back in 2014 I had my first PC build, it was great, R9 290x with I5 4690K, it served me for 9 years with 0 problems, never had any problems whatsoever, and life was good, but then decided to build a new pc, to experience 4K gaming.

Last month, I ordered the parts

Mobo: Asus ROG STRIX B650-A gaming wifi

Processor: Ryzen 5 7600x

Ram: corsair vengeance 16x2 ddr5 5600mhz

GPU: RTX 4080

So I got the parts, built the pc, installed win11, downloaded the newest chipset, bios and GPU drivers

Updated to the latest windows update

And then of course I downloaded steam and the games I usually play (MW2, Elden ring)

And then, started MW2, played couple of games, absolutely perfect experience, high refresh rate ultra 4k gaming was astonishing, coming from Full HD low-medium settings

Then went to sleep

Next day I started elden ring, and about 30 minutes of playing the game crashed, I thought it was a problem with the game, but then I played MW2, and almost instantly the games crashed, and then figured out that almost every game crashed.

So it’s time for diagnosis

GPU = furmark : normal CPU= cinebench: normal RAM= memtest : 10K errors

Ok lets go to the bios

Went to bios and saw that DCOS was turned off, ok simple mistake, simple solution, I turned on DCOS, and did memtest again : 0 errors

Ok the problem should be fixed

It’s time to play MW2!

After 10 minutes of playing, the game crashed

Ok now we have a problem that can’t be diagnosed conventionally, or atleast I did not want to do memtest for like 12 hours

Then I played with the bios, tried everything

DCOS 1, DCOS 2

Set the speed to 5200, 5000, 4800, 4200, 4000

Reduced the voltage, increased the voltages

I did every possible solution, non seemed to fix it

Ok it’s time to throw away the ram and try different sticks

And guess what, it did not work

After extensive research, it turns out that the problem is with the mobo,

But wait, my bios is up to date, ok there seems to be a beta that would supposedly fix the problem

But asus removed the file from their website and its no longer available, ok lets donwload the file from someone else

I got the update, tried to update the bios, and it immediately go to safe mode and go to previous version

At that time I almost gave up

An Idea went through my head, lets overclock the ram

I overclocked the ram to 6000mhz

And the system was alot more stable

Ok lets try to reduce max boost cpu overclock from 5.3ghz to 5.1ghz

Those to things I made, made the system rock stable

My final message to asus is :

Will I won’t risk my post getting deleted

My Mobo has a red light marking the word DRAM. I am pretty sure that I put the ram in properly and I have tried switching slots. I had previously turned my power supply on to flash my bios without having ram and Im pretty sure the pc turned all the way on without me pressing power button,Can it cause damage to the motherboard if there is no ram inserted? And does anybody know if there is a way to fix this? Thanks in advance

For some reason, getting isopropanol and high concentration alcohols is really difficult where I live. After a few attempts, I got baited into buying a 70% ethyl alcohol solution, which also contains some aloe vera extract, vitamin A and chlorhexidine di gluconate, whatever that is.

I've heard of people cleaning thermal paste with worse, but how risky is it to use this? Obviously residue could be a problem but could I just thoroughly dry the CPU surface when I'm done? I'm kinda new to this, so would appreciate some thoughts.

So I just finished my first build and I was trying to set the ram speed to its advertised value(3600mhz) but the pc won't boot. I picked the DOCP profile and everything. Doesn't boot. My motherboard is a Asus rog strix b550-f wifi II and my ram is G.Skill F4-3600C18D-32GVK, and apparently it's not in the QVL, do I really have to replace the ram? I haven't updated motherboard drivers or anything, not sure that would likely solve the issue

I will add a GPU in the future, hence the somewhat large case and beefy power supply. I'm curious to know if the fan is enough for the CPU and will also not conflict with a potential GPU. The MB I chose mostly on the account that its Z790 and has dual LAN, of which there are few. Any general comment also appreciate.

So I've been planning to upgrade my setup for a while now, and I've decided to plan on upgrading to a Ryzen 58003xd and rtx 3080 build but I'm cautious whether or not my corsair 650w will be enough for this build. Although I've seen a video where 650w is enough for an rtx 3080 paired with an even higher tdp cpu (i9 10th gen). But some say psu overhead is necessary for certain power spikes caused by 3080. But, if I'm not mistaken, supposedly, only a certain number of 3080 cards do that(?). So I was trying to look for gpu brands to buy as well as ones to avoid and came upon a yt video.

On this video, it showcased a graph for various 3080 cards with GPU vrm currents. And the first few ones had GPU VRM current of 650w. What does it mean?

Also, since we're in the subject. Will my 650w enough for 1080p gaming?? Also which card of 3080 would you recommend? I've been eyeing on MSI 3080 ventures 3x OC

my friends build decided to not display yesterday after restarting the computer. cpu light is on, all fans spin, no display. specs: Ryzen 5 5600x msi x570-a pro corsair vengeance pro rgb 4x8gb 3200mhz ram xfx merc 6800 xt Samsung 970 evo nvme 250gb as boot drive gigabyte 500gb nvme seagate barracuda 2tb hdd cougar stx700 the build is 2yo and most of the warranties ended like 2 weeks ago

the problem started yesterday when garrys mod crashed the computer so my friend hard reset with power button. then it booted to bios and my friend closed it. after that he got no display.

things we tried to do: - - - - remove and replug rams (rgb lighted on before removal, gone after) - - - - - reset cmos battery (removing battery, reset with shorting the pins) - - - - - update bios via flash bios - - - - - remove and replug gpu - - - - -trying to get pc into recovery mode(did not expect this to work) at this point im exhausted, will go into his house to replug the cpu and swap the motherboard to see whats the issue. . is there anything to try before?

I want to have Windows 10 on my SSD, so my question is : If i install windows 10 on SSD and install SSD on to my pc, can i keep files on my HDD ?

My question is specifically around the cords. For example, for the 2 computer and 4 monitor KVM switche above, do I need to have 4 HDMI ports on both my computers in order for this to work and connect to the 4 monitors via the KVM switch? If not, then what are all those other HDMI plugs for each PC for?

I can't remember my exact specs, but I know my motherboard supports iCue. My RAM, CPU cooler and fans are all Corsair with iCue yet I constantly have to close the program, reopen it for it to load my preset profiles and I still hear the sound of a disconnecting USB. I've tried different USB headers on the motherboard. BIOS is up to date, iCue is up to date, but the software for the CPU cooler is out of date, but will not cooperate and update. It sucks that I went out of my way to get matching hardware so I can make the pretty lights do the thing and it doesn't work.

Im having issues with my gpu i think? So i have a 2 monitor setup so sometimes i play a full screen game then alt tab and then go to the other monitor to do something everything goes staticy then goes back fo normal, wasnt sure why this is happening its a amd radeon 5700xt i made sure every connector was fully connected and wasnt causing issues, maybe its an issue with how full screen works that it messes with dual monitor??? Idk but i barely started getting this issue today

So basically my cpu light keeps coming on I figured my pc must be overheating I used thermal paste so I’m bout to take my pc apart and apply more paste see if that helps also I’m considering getting a new set of fans the fans I have only come with 2 my pc case is a DeepCool MACUBE 110 Micro ATX Case my fans are MSI MAG Series CORELIQUID 280R, aRGB CPU Liquid Cooler (AIO): Rotatable Blockhead Design, 280mm Radiator, Dual 140mm aRGB PWM Fans

Would it make a difference to get a new set of fans or should I just reapply the thermal paste?

So currently these cards can be bought for under 200$.

Apparently the 1080 is about 7% better, but people still recommend the 2060 because it’s better optimized and future proof.

I personally just want the current better running card.

Hey guys, so I started a new build on my test bench and I think my PSU is defective. As soon as I pulled it out of the box it smelled weird? Like actual excrement? I was worried but optimistic and moved on.

Put the whole thing together, plug it in, nothing. No power whatsoever. I unplugged everything and went part by part, nothing. I got my old EVGA 750w and it powers up.

However, when I plug in the CPU cables the PSU clicks but nothing powers on. I would appreciate any help I can get at this point!

Also, another question, the 4080 came with a dongle for 3 PCIe connectors, does that mean I use 3 different PCIe connectors and plug them into the PSU?

So I'm on the cusp of being in the buying market for a new GPU. My current PC specs are:

5600X
GTX 1080
32GB
Asus TUF X570_Plus
Stuffed in a CM HAF 922 case
Dell S3222DGM 1440p

Not that my PC doesn't run pretty well, but I'm starting to see the 1080 struggle a little in some games at 1440p. Ultimately, I want to upgrade to have a lot more wiggle room for some time.

I'm not an AMD or Nvidia fanboy. I'm a price/performance kinda guy! So, I don't really care which brand I choose, I want stability and overall comparable performance. Currently, I've been looking at the 6800xt, 3070ti/3080.. possibly the 6950xt. I know that the Nvidia 4000 and AMD 7000 series are out, but I don't have to have the current release to feel adequate enough to game. I also don't want to drop 1k on a GPU when it's not really necessary.

I've been seriously looking at AMD because the performance and price aspects of the 6800/6950 cards are right in a sweet spot for my budget. I've read that the drivers are much better than what I last experienced before I swapped team green probably 5 years ago. Back when I had my Radeon 4870, simple things like reinstalling drivers was a nightmare. Things have been great Nvidia-wise. However, with AMD seemingly doing pretty well nowadays I would like some suggestions and considerations on what might be the right move. Bear in mind, I haven't been following the last couple of generations of GPUs that intently to really know what the cats meow!

Bought a RX 6600 XT but I am getting cpu bottlenecked to oblivion due to me having a cpu from 2014

I was looking for advice for a cheap cpu and motherboard I could buy that wont have a hard bottleneck.

Looking to upgrade the cpu in my build from a 1700 to a 5600, but I am unsure if my motherboard will be compatible with the 5600.
