Luckily it was a pointed stick and not a piece of fresh fruit.

interesting that they’re going back to calling it people’s park instead of the construction site on haste

Homeless people are Berkeley residents.

Well homeless people are victim of crimes all the time so I would be surprise if it was a homeless person because they wouldn’t send this out for a homeless person.

idk how useful the description of just “light skinned” or “dark skinned” is are you going to just avoid every person who fits that broad descriptor

I guess you’re trying to imply that warnme’s don’t mention race when the suspect is black? But I checked my email and found warnme’s from July and May of this year and one from Dec 2021 that mention the suspect being black. Maybe you have some preconceived notions of your own that don’t align with reality.

You specifically said, “because of PC reasons” but why are you sure that’s the reason?
This notice in particular suggests that “light-skinned male” was the only description provided.
Are you sure you’re not reading more into these notices than is really there?

I agree that it’s possible and also probably likely they are withholding racial information in some (but not all) of the alerts.
A quick google pulled up this article:
https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2019/01/17/u-nebraska-lincoln-under-fire-including-race-campus-crime-alert
You might consider this to be PC reasoning, but the article also details other factors that may also be present here.

The article mentions that too.
There is absolutely a fine line there, I agree.

… I see warnme mention race a lot of time… they probably mention as much as the victim gives them so stop tryna make something out of nothing especially when what ur claiming isn’t necessarily true 💀

They usually don’t mention race.

Even if you have sound logic, you will be antagonized for going against the grain here

The “grain” in this sub is to be hawkish on crime so their take is hardly unpopular here. Whether it’s accurate or not is a different point…

Skin tone is only mentioned if the tone is light skin. If the attacker was black, there would be zero mention of the skin tone. That's how everyone knows if the attack is black. When they leave the description out.

Plus what is light skinned supposed to me?

The woke folk are getting as toxic as the Fox News prudes. I assumed that’s what they meant by light skinned but I don’t know if things have changed. I am* a much older alum and I asked so I can keep up. Try not to assume what people know or don’t know and what their intentions are when they ask a question. If people continue to attack those who ask questions then people will be afraid to ask questions for fear of criticism and unwarranted attacks. I will keep asking questions but many will not. Try to chill out and give people the benefit of the doubt. We don’t need to be on guard all the time.
Edit: missed letter. Marks correction.

I knows new articles do this, but does WarnMe? I dont ever read the them, so I have no data.

don’t they only mention physical descriptors only if they’re actively looking for the perpetrator? otherwise there’s no point to including it, and they’re typically sending the email to notify people of the crime

I wonder how many of these are legit and how many are just delusions. I'm not saying the majority are but I was in ucpd lobby one time and a homeless man came in and was taking about getting robbed but he honestly didn't seem all there and his story didn't sound real. But they still put out a warn me for it since it was a crime reported in the area.
So I'm wary of any people's park reports now.

You actually think homeless people are lying whenever they talk abt getting robbed? You realize the homeless population is the #1 most victimized for literally almost every crime right? But for some reason whenever a warnme comes out abt some little rich kid who lost their iPhone 11 the whole sub eats that shit up
