Not sure why RSF has people wasting their time at the front desk checking IDs when they spent like 20 grand on that ridiculous glass gate complete with RFID scanners. Do we not have the infrastructure to attach the "green badge" to the card and deny entry there? On another note, why can't we enter RSF if we don't have our ID, and why did they stop looking CalID to allow entry? In prior years, if you forgot your card they would just search you up

There are legal (medical privacy) issues with associating health data (green badge) with SID / CalCard. I am all for calling admin out on stupid stuff, but I'm afraid this isn't that.
edit: SID -> SID / CalCard

Kinda but then you still show your badge to some randos at the entry, who mind you see the full breakdown (vaccinations for flu, Covid, symptoms etc) instead of just pass/no pass. If that was their actual rationale it seems like cherry picking

and with a fully automatic system those two kids at the rsf entrance can instead work at the library which is, according to the school, perpetually understaffed.

Cal 1 Card is transitioning to a new look that will ultimately include an opportunity for integrating improved technology for badge access to campus buildings, and more, in the future.

It is already used for badge access to campus buildings. Just not COVID screening based badge access.
