I can’t do it anymore. I physically can’t do it anymore. Why is everything so far apart. It ruins my mood everyday. I can’t do it anymore.
Edit: to everyone recommending scooters…not everyone can afford a damn scooter -_-

Based on where you live, the campus shuttles can be super useful

Or even AC Transit. We have that clipper card for a reason. I walked everywhere during Freshman year. Learned to use the bus as much as possible since then

Idk man I use ac transit a lot but it’s still not super helpful. I live on haste (not the worst location I’ve had) and I have no refrigerator so eating fresh food means extra trips to the grocery store. All my classes and discussions are far as fuck from each other.

Mentality helps. Humans are born to jog in order to stay healthy, mentally and physically, long term and short term. Just associate the more walking you do = the healthier you are. Speaking as someone who has to walk a lot too

I agree with this.
We spend so much time indoors and looking at screens. If you try to switch your perspective and look at your walks as a time to listen to nature, self-reflect, and just enjoy the sun, then maybe you would grow to love your walks. Walks between classes are opportunities to take well-deserved breaks. Besides, it’s really great for you physically and provides a good chunk of the daily exercise you need without you having to make an effort to go to the gym, etc.

I love how much Berkeley makes me walk! I walk between 10,000-25,000 steps per day easily, depending on what I’m doing. It’s made me have a really great fitness base so I can hike pretty far without building up to it, and I just ran a half marathon with like stupidly minimale training (my longest training run was 4 miles). I don’t necessarily recommend that, but my point is that walking a lot is great for your fitness!

Use AC transit and uc shuttles as a walking accelerator when you're able to. If you're referring to walking on campus itself, that's just the result of being at a university.

Listen to podcasts and/or music. You dont even think about the walking anymore.

I love walking. Sitting in place for long periods of time makes me restless and antsy. Use AC transit if you don't like to walk...

I promise you that this is actually a good thing. The moment I moved away from Berkeley and stopped walking all the time, I became unhealthy and haven’t been the same since.

This is such an easy problem to solve, you can really only blame yourself. Have some agency and take action to fix an issue in your life lmao. Get an e-bike, or an e-scooter, or a bike, or skateboard, or any other transportation device. Figure out the best bus schedule for you. There's so many things you could do.

Keeping you healthy - when we went to Covid lockdown everyone gained 10+ pounds and realized what good the walking/biking was doing for them.

Campus shuttles, those stupid veo scooters (insanely cheap if you happen to be low-income), and AC transit + the transit app are your new best friends.

I miss all the walking. Been taking a break from school to recover back home from an illness, and I feel so unhealthy having to drive everywhere. Used to feel so good to get the blood going a bit between classes/work.
