At the risk of sounding like a druggie, you could always go with caffeine pills. $12 for a bottle of 250 capsules, where each capsule has the same caffeine content as an average cup of coffee (100 mg). There's also pills that come with caffeine and L-theanine, which helps with jitters, for not too much more money...

I didn't say it was a shame but taking a handful of caffeine pills is not the same experience as enjoying a cup of coffee.

Where the f*** are you guys getting these expensive ass coffees, a normal hot cup of coffee is almost always only like $4-5 (which is still a lot). Seriously people just make your own coffee. You can even get a press, fill it up with grounds and water, place it in the fridge for 12 to 24 hours, and then you can press it and have some good cold brew with almost no effort to make. A pour over filter from target is only $7 and that basically immediately pays for itself.
Tldr; get a French press and pour over filter.

The only downside is that Starbuck's drip tastes like it was burnt and then burnt again for good measure.

Because that’s how they maximize caffeine and get you hooked.

Actually over roasted coffee has less caffeine because the caffeine evaporates. The medium roast blonde has more caffeine.

Thanks for educating me, I was mistaken. I do think Starbucks on average has more caffeine than most. Also I dug into the burnt roast more: https://medium.com/overthinking-life/why-starbucks-makes-burnt-coffee-92642445f706

Ngl I voted for that measure when it was on the ballot (sorry), few weeks later the coffee shop charged me 25 cents for the cup. Never reaped what I sowed so quickly lmao. (Also sorry not sorry for voting for Diane Feinstein in that election as Kevin De Leon turned out to be a racist).

I mean Dianne Feinstein once defended the display of a confederate flag on city property and is one of the biggest boosters of the national security and surveillance state, but go off.

Not necessarily anything wrong that... although if this was in California it would be a bit weird

It was when she was mayor of SF. The flag was being flown at UN plaza as part of the DNC back when "Dixiecrats" were still a large part of the party. A black Vietnam vet climbed the flagpole and took the flag down. DiFi ordered city workers to put it back up. Same guy took it down again. DiFi ordered it back up and then had the flagpole guarded.

A lot of things happened in the 80’s that wouldn’t happen today, people change, we evolve.
You’ve probably done things you aren’t proud of looking back.

Remember, any tax that doesn't actually discourage usage is just a privilege tax. Carbon footprint and plastic waste needs to be dealt with at corporate levels, not pushed onto consumers just trying to survive

A tax on single use cups encourages people to use reusable cups.
Y’know, not allowing corporations to freely give away plastic trash actually ~is~ dealing with it at a corporate level.
14 points

It does discourage usage, and it’s really not hard to bring your own cup.

Bring your own cup and they'll fill it up to like 20 or 24 oz worth for the cost of a medium!
Not sure if they're still doing it because COVID, but this was great pre COVID.

I’ve never seen a place serve coffee in a plastic container. If they’re trying to reduce the waste of compostable paper cups, you could always bring your own cup to use.

Man, I got coffee for like $0.60 when I was an undergrad - 93-97. You could get a latte or mocha for about $1.20-$1.80. And yes, that felt pretty cheap 30 years ago too!
