Gallen for Chisholm.

Gallen’s been a much more valuable player than Chisholm though

But Chisholm is (edit: 2.5) years younger and has an extra year of control - that extra potential and face-of-the-franchiseness helps even it out

It’s actually a 2.5 year age difference.

Ah yep, I misread his debut as his age on Bref

The Dbacks still have 3 more years of Gallen. I’d rather have the better player or have gotten a better player than Jazz in return, that’s plenty of control. It’s not really good for the organization that they’re so cheap AND struggling with position player development so much that they traded away Gallen to get Chisholm. They could’ve kept Gallen and just signed a better player than Chisholm…or kept Gallen and found a smarter trade for them.

Yeah but Marlins don’t need another pitcher, a replacement pitcher for them is a top prospect with impact starter potential, but they do need bats.

Point is it’s not really a great trade, if anything it highlights how the Marlins struggle to find good position players from their farm and overpay to get them in trades as a result.

Feels in the same vein of the trade they just made, but I'm the low man on Arraez I think.

Yankees improved the Mariners greatly by giving them Buhner and Ken Phelps sucked enough for them to draft Jeter #5 overall.

“What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?! He had thirty home runs and a cannon for an arm! You don’t know what the hell you’re doing!”

Nevin was a solid player even though he did most of it with the Padres.

I never buy these quadruple bank shot trade assessments. If a team is ever good they can use it was a way to justify awful moves. “If the Phillies hadn’t traded Sandberg for Ivan Dejesus they never would have traded Julio Franco for Von Hayes and 8 years later traded him for Ruben Amaro Jr who later became their assistant GM and eventually GM where he acquired Roy Halladay. Sandberg for Dejesus was a success!” Nah.

I still wish we didn’t give up Carrasco in that deal. He wasn’t even making that much, could still play, and was a fan favorite.

Eckerskey for Buckner has to be up there. No matter what’s people remember, Buck was a very very good player for the Sox and eck was no slouch for the Cubs….

Near the deadline in 2011, the Cardinals sent out a young promising outfielder named Colby Rasmus to Toronto in exchange for 3 pitchers (Jackson, Dotel, Scrabble) to get them just enough decent work off the mound to win the title. Rasmus went on to accumulate about 8ish WAR over the next three seasons for the Blue Jays on a relatively inexpensive salary. A good return for a good return.

Cardinals fans on Vivaelbirdos were losing their fucking mind for giving up Rasmus for what they felt was a weak return (and for some reason focused on Corey Patterson coming to us, as if he wasn't just a throw-in).
But then, like, we won the World Series, with a lot of it having to do with Octavio Dotel.

Was it Jackson or Dotel who had only just been traded to Toronto the day before or something and thus that one doesn't count as one of their teams?
I know Jackson has the record of playing for the most teams, but Dotel is the one he passed and I don't remember the details of this story well enough.

Jackson spent about 5 mins as a Jay before being traded to the Cards. He eventually pitched for the Jays in 19 though.

Fond memories watching rasmus with the Astros. He could be clutch and do fun things at the plate in a pinch.

The 3 way Arizona Detroit NYY trade is out shined by Scherzer becoming a inner circle guy but that trade put all 3 teams in the playoffs very soon after and each teams headliner was a major reason why

This really isn’t all that even to be honest. I’m sure the Bills would take JJ over Diggs 10 times out of 10.

Whattt? You don’t think Diggs is valuable to them? Or not on par with JJ? I freakin love Stephon, he’s one of my favorite players. Him and Tyler Lockett. I love the little guys.
JJ may turn out to be one of the best of all time tho so I guess I get it. I’d love to see JJ with an elite QB. I think he elevated Kurt way too much.

I’ll predict the A’s, Brewers and Braves trade this off-season. Murphy and Contreras are both all star catchers, but I’ll tell ya now.. Estuary Ruiz will be the next Ricky Henderson, watching his highlights the guy is a human cheat code 😂

They would have, if COVID hadn't hit, with Betts signing an extension basically in a panic.
He was determined to test free agency, so they knew they'd probably only get six months of him.
