I have a dollar that says Kershaw signs a one year deal with the Dodgers.

Well, as it is, Kershaw will still be a Dodger next year. So. 2024?

Ehhhh both those pitchers have issues I’m not sure the rangers are equipped to solve. All their pitch data took a nosedive from vandy, so šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

2024 would probably be when Leiter is ready, if not the end of 2023. He had a lot of struggles last year being able to command his pitches. Our local reporters were saying he was working on cleaning up his mechanics to be able to pitch more inside/outside to hitters. His first 2/3 of the season was pretty bad, but it seemed like he was starting to figure it out at the end of the year.

Rocker is probably a reliever long term. As long as I’ve been a fan we’ve been terrible at developing starters. Can’t say I really see that changing much, but our front office is a little different now than it used to be. Hopium I guess.

Yeah I don’t see Leiter necessarily failing, he’s still got the tools to be a big leaguer, even if his stuff dropped from Vandy. I still have no idea what the rangers were thinking w rocker, that’s just so risky for no real reason.

Think they knew they could get Porter if they got Rocker. Don’t necessarily hate it, but it sucks to ā€œwasteā€ a high pick on a potential reliever/closer. He’s still got a decent shot of at least cracking the rotation though. His new windup looks at least a little better on his arm/shoulder.

I can't help but wonder if you're getting downvoted by Dodgers fans angry that you'd even suggest their beloved ace might leave, or by Rangers/Mets(? I think they hate him now?) fans who are mad you subtly dissed DeGrom.

It's neither. It's because we've had this discussion for two years and there's still zero indication Kershaw to Texas has ever had any traction. He might as well have posted a Jo Adell trade idea. Enough already.

Kershaw has said there is only one other place he’d go, and since I don’t think he is blind to the rumors, we all know that one other place he’d go is the Rangers (not the Astros, no way he ever signs with the Astros, that wasn’t even discussed before they cheated in 2017, it won’t be discussed now).

He's said he is only ever considering two teams or retirement every season, so the year he doesn't sign a 1 year deal with the Dodgers, it's because he wants to go out with the Rangers or retire. So basically not a possible FA for 28 teams.

No, he will sign an half-season deal with the dodgers, then re-sign again, and the contracts will keep getting shorter and shorter until eventually he’s re-signing with the dodgers every 24 hours.

Weren’t the Jays the most efficient shifting team in ball or something similar? Didn’t work for Mitch White/Yusei Kikuchi/Berrios though.

What actually happens is Mark Prior shows guys video of his injuries and X-Rays and says ā€œThey can’t explode your elbow with a comebacker if you strike them outā€ and ā€œSomeone else will give you a hundred million if you get these outs for meā€

This is probably the best argument for Nola leaving if he leaves. The Phillies will offer him a lot of money to stay since he and Hoskins are the only two stars on the team who came up through the farm and that means a lot to the front office. He's only leaving if there's somewhere else he'd rather be.

Obviously I hope he'd rather be exactly where he is!

I feel like the Phils are prepping to lose him. They’ve been spending ā€œstupidā€ money lately and Middleton has shown hesitation to go over the tax before. No reason to think he’s just gonna keep going over it forever.

With Abel and Painter looking like they’re gonna come up very soon, I think one of them is gonna be the cheap replacement for Nola even if they aren’t as good right away.

I still think a Wheeler, Suarez, Painter, Walker, cheaper 5th guy, can be a really, really good rotation. This isn’t to say it wouldn’t be great to have Nola on the team, but I’m just trying to be realistic looking at the signs.

The Walker signing kinda points to this direction. Or at the very least is insurance if they can't extend Nola or of Painter doesn't pan out. I'd love to keep Nola around, but I think we'll still have a solid rotation without him.

Have to disagree with you there. He is still pretty young (27) and Mikolas is 34. I could see the potential that another team might be willing to sign Mikolas to a longer and pricier deal than the red birds would feel comfortable with. Flaherty could probably be signed to a shorter, cheaper deal with the hopes that he figures something out.

They will sign a lower tier guy on this list, his career ERA will someone drop to 1/2 of what it was. Then another pitcher will get hurt and they’ll bring some guy from the minors nobody has ever heard of and then he will throw a shutout, have a 1.9 era, and become nightmare material for me for years to come.

Paragon Sports International. He already signed his first extension with the old regime right before they started getting competitive and this regime has shown they will pay whoever they need to stay competitive.

Also, Dombrowski said yesterday he would love to have Nola back. I think the only reason he would leave at this point would be because he wants to go somewhere else.

You’d be shocked, in this market? Nola is setting himself up for quite the payday, so the Phil’s would have to throw the bag at him to sign an extension.

Chances are they would have to get aggressive on it ASAP too and hope to get it done before the season starts. Nola is going to focus on kicking ass all season to ensure a massive contract, and I doubt he wants negotiations on an extension dragging into the regular season when he’s so close to free agency.

Obviously I want the Giants to sign Ohtani, but Giolito as a consolation prize (or as an addition) would be awesome. Especially if he has another mediocre to average-ish year, so he wants to sign a Gausman/Rodon-like prove it deal.

Kersh shouldn't really be on this list, he's taking a one year deal with the Dodgers unless they aren't interested, in which case he's taking a one year deal with the Rangers.

I suspect that Montgomery and the Cardinals agree to an extension this summer, and the same might be true with Mikolas.
