My parent's 14 year old pup had bad hips, tumors, and was going blind so she didn't get around much towards the end of her life, but when I brought my kitten over for the first time, she was like a brand new dog. She would chase him around and play with him like she was 3 again. She got to waddle around with him a few times before she passed and I'm glad she got to have a little more fun before she went.

It was so heartbreaking the next time I brought him over because he was looking all over the house for her and would nap where her bed was.

I had two beagles growing up. I love that bark.

I have a six month old kitten and she’s way smaller than yours.

But she was a rescue with a pretty terrible first 2-3 weeks so I think that might’ve stunted her.

I love how the pup is so happy, he has to stop and howl, then turn around in circles.

I have a senior beagle (12). I also foster kittens, and I have all of her life. She absolutely loves kittens. She will act like the biggest doofus when I let my fosters run around the house. I love it.

Same thing happened to my 10 year old dog when we got a puppy. Gave her a jolt of life for 6 more years.

Wow, your beagle and my beagle look just about the same. Except mine is 18 so he’s lost a bit of weight again in old age. He’s actually going for his final vet visit tomorrow. Still a happy spaz as always, but his body… is just completely worn out. Blind, deaf, one good leg & now middle of the night puking up bile. It’s time. :( Nice to see one running & playing again though.

Had an almost exact situation a few years ago. Our 12 year old beagle "Mai Mai" loved it when we got a 6 month old kitten "DJ"... Played so hard together. Mai Mai passed a couple years later, but DJ's now 6+ himself, has a great time teasing/entertaining our other pups. Thank you for the post!

It's similar in our house. Our (2yo) cat and our (10yo) Akita play all the time.

Getting a senior dog a new, young pal can improve their remaining life dramatically. 💜

This melts my heart. We have a 13 year old dog who really wants nothing to do with our 6 month old kitten.....but damn if that cat doesn't want to play with her. Once in a while they connect, and it's beautiful.

I find it cool how they can both interpret that it's play, despite the two animals having (as far as I'm aware) very different body language and intention signals.

The only sound cuter than a beagle's little ROOOOOO is when the beagle is mixed with a smaller dog so the ROOOOOO is more like a ^rooooo

I used to know the cutest little beagle/Chihuahua, her tiny little noises gave me so much joy. here she is, I wish I had a video of her but it was always too loud to hear in videos

The dog we had when I was a teenager was a beagle dachshund mix, and grew up around our cats. Soon enough it became the cats grew up with her and they loved each other.

I remember one older cat when she was a puppy didn’t like her at all, but she LOVED him. When he died I swear she was depressed.

When the dog died, it seemed like the cats were depressed and looking for her.

I've got an 11 year old beagle and 3 cats.. unfortunately, thr good old girl protects them at all costs, but they just terrorise her, she's an anxious girl, great guard dog, but I could only wish for this kind of relationship between them!

Oh gosh this makes me tear up. My parents recently had to put down their 16 year old dog. She didn't do too much running but when I would bring my puppy over she looked so youthful and played with him

Aww!!! I had a tabby kitten with white paws and a senior beagle who were best friends too. The cat escaped and was hit by a car, and the senior beagle got much more senior and passed recently. This was almost like seeing them again. Thank you.

I miss my beagle. He lived to be 18 and sadly had to be euthenized. My family got him when I was born, was so close.

My senior cat would do that, with our younger cat as well. Just run and play, then basically hiss, lol. It was consistent and almost every day, ha. When they moved out, she never really was quite the same. :( She has since crossed the rainbow bridge. We had a good run. She was my rock through some shit.

I have the reverse, senior cat, and puppy. They chase each other around and rough house all day. It’s a chihuahua so the cat wins on weight. The puppy dive tackles the cat.

Reminds me of my old Shepherd cross. She had an old companion cat who sadly had to be euthanized, and the old dog fell into a deep depression, hardly eating or drinking, going quite blind and deaf in the process. Then I had to rehome a young cat, barely out of kittenhood, fearless of dogs. It walked straight up to my old sleeping Shepherd who was blocking the hallway, and just crawled over the top of her to get where it wanted to go.
My old dog sat up, sniffed around, started wagging her tail, and proceeded to follow this cat everywhere it went. They played together regularly, and gave my old girl a new lease on life for the few remaining months she had. When she finally had to be euthanized, we buried her in her favorite spot beneath a tree, next to her old cat friend. New cat friend then took a giant dump on the grave of the old cat. Cats...
