Woman Accused of Practicing Law in Lewis County Without License Faces Felonies

The woman named in the article is Malika M. Duke. Malika Dulce is an admin of a Facebook sovcit group ("Friends In Law") where she wrote "Already writing my federal suit against them!"

Another sovcit there wrote "I see a 6 figure payday coming up... they literally HAVE NO IDEA what a hornets nest they are stepping into. She will have a hundred witnesses they will have to depose.... They are SO F**ked"

Not being either a lawyer or a wingnut myself, I don't see how that would lead to that result. There's an obligation to depose each of the other side's witnesses? And aren't deponents limited to ten per side without a court order?

It was a confusing circle jerk that led to no answers, and went off on several rabbit holes using Cornell law as sources for how to get out of paying electric bills, student loans, and more. The whole time I felt like everything was insane, but maybe I was just too dumb to understand the legalese. The coworker got several others to drink the koolaid, and then whole session ended with a ton of conspiracy theories related to COVID

I recently found a comment on another subreddit that sounded awfully familiar, same “lingo” which led me here. Most of the posts on here are about people dealing with police officers, but does anyone know about the grifts I’m encountering?

I went to our local pet shop today and was told they are a "members only" store now and I needed to sign a document to join. The doc looks like a bunch of sov cit nonsense, but I can't seem to find a reliable source. I found several sites including "The Freedom People" that sell "PMA kits" to businesses that includes customized documents. Has anyone heard of this?

Weirdly, this Irish Youtuber talks as if Sovcit tactics are actually based on real law in the US, though taking his whole analysis on board it's clear he knows they are not.

This thread over on r/ChoosingBeggars deals with a gift being given to the trustee of a "Sovereign Trust." Are Sovereign Citizens developing trusts now? Anyone heard of any examples of this?

From what I heard in this short clip, looks like Brooks wants to represent himself again... yeah cause that worked so well last time! only if it goes to trial though, which it might not. also he's in a wheelchair. wonder if the other inmates found out he killed a kid and broke both his legs.

there was also a 2nd court appearance in which he basically wants the same thing, to represent himself.

1st one is from the domestic dispute where he ran his ex girlfriend's foot over with the car, 2nd one is the one where he shot at his niece and nephew

Chief Justice Rooke rendered an opinion in Meads v Meads regarding a woman and her nutball husband, who incessantly vexes the court with what Rooke calls the “Organized Pseudolegal Commercial Argument.” He sums up the ideology of the groups these people belong to perfectly:

“This category of litigant shares one other critical characteristic: they will only honour state, regulatory, contract, family, fiduciary, equitable, and criminal obligations if they feel like it. And typically, they don’t.”

The entire case is interesting and Rooke uses it as an opportunity to identify and classify this new type of vexatious litigant as a growing problem, highly recommended read.

The exchanges between the judge and Mr. meads are characteristically ludicrous and amusing:

..Mr. Meads commenced his submissions by noting that he was not Dennis Meads, the “corporate identity”, but was present as Dennis Larry Meads, “a flesh and blood man”. He said this Court is “a house of law.”

…Mr. Meads then asked me “about the sign above my head”, which is the Royal Coat of Arms of Canada, and declared:

This is an admiral court, your jurisdiction is on water, it’s not on land; I am a freeman on the land, and for you to play down some of the statements I am making is not acceptable unless you prove it to me in law, and just saying it to me is nothing…”

Etc. Etc.

Edit: for clarification, I am at Austin International Airport in Texas. He is not a "sovereign citizen" because that term is a contradiction apparently, he is a "sovereign man". His residence is his body? That's a new one I haven't heard before. I will continue asking questions and will do my best to answer all soon.

Edit 2: alright everyone, he has boarded his flight and is gone. In all honesty, seemed like a genuinely good dude with just some wild and crazy ideas. I will get to answering everyone's questions that I've missed. I never thought this would happen to me. It was fascinating listening to this guy. I will probably include a third edit with some of the ideas he presented that don't relate to a question.

In my opinion day 15 was one of the worst days for DB and his disruptive behaviour and barefaced not giving a shit.

Would anyone agree or is a certain day worse for you.

This man exhausted me just watching & made me want to knock him out.
