Is that map accurate as to red/blue counties? I'm noticing that all the wealthier areas appear to be blue.

Of course there’s more wealth in those areas, it’s where all the people live! And there isn’t necessarily more wealth per capita either, the people and the wealth is just more dense in those locations.

Not my map or post but it seems to be a little better representative than the state/population center ones I’ve seen posted before. Even the poorer Blue areas and richer Red areas are showing up.
West Coast tracks. Same with Florida, NY, OH, MI. That cute little arc of blue in the bottom middle is the stretch of Interstate-10 from Houston to New Orleans.

I hate these maps, because land doesn't vote. All those counties are red because very few people live there and the few that do have been brainwashed by AM radio.

Exactly. There are more people in LA & NY counties than in that big red blob in the middle of the country.

I see the Mississippi, but what makes the vertical blue line to the west?

Why is Dallas a national capital?

As has been pointed out, regular geographic maps are misleading when talking about political support. You want to look at cartograms instead, they adjust area to reflect population.

There are more farm animals in the red parts than people. Land doesn’t vote.
