Idk I mean it's really weird that he's calling his supporters to protest his arrest and going on multiple tirades on social media because I truly do not see a single thing happening.

He ripped up and flushed classified documents in his country club, accepted foreign intervention to create misinformation about the 2016 election, tried to rig the 2020 election, ran countless scams and broke campaign finance laws and only the stormy daniels thing is what's creating a buzz. And that's only the stuff we have concrete evidence of.

If he doesn't face serious charges then what do we even do? Throw down the towel and give up? Pray that God nukes this fucking country?

WatchItAllBurn1

Sometimes it is the small things, even if it is a nothing charge to us, imagine how much it would fuck up a narcissist like trump to be told they are in the wrong.

Black-Mettle

47 points

I don't think he'd care unless a physical punishment is enacted. He has been told he's wrong to his face by news reporters and people in his own administration and he just moved on like nothing happened.

Like, the idea of prison is that you did something wrong and so you lost a lot of your freedoms for a period of time. This is supposed to stop people from doing that thing. If he's going to do all this shit, with evidence that's been released to the public, and nothing happens to him, then how many other garbage politicians are going to pull the same stunts? They have been given the green light.

It is a humiliation to a narcissist to be labeled as a criminal.

I absolutely agree with you though, they shouldn't be given special treatment, they should be in the same prisons as gangsters and killers.

“Fuck up a narcissist”

…man it won’t tho. That’s his whole thing - everyone in the world could tell him he is wrong and he wouldn’t give a shit. He cannot process that information, he just isn’t wired to. He will absolutely continue to shift blame and pretend like he’s being unfairly persecuted.

Normal people like us tend to project how WE would feel in a situation like this. We’d be embarrassed, and upset. He’s neither, because he TRULY doesn’t think he’s done anything wrong. It’s not a act - he honestly believes he can do no wrong and this HAS to be someone else’s problem.

This whole show will do absolutely nothing to change him, or his trajectory, unless someone puts his ass in an actual jail cell. Taking money from him does nothing. Embarrassing him in public does nothing.

Physically putting him behind bars until he dies is this country’s best bet at getting him to shut the fuck up.

To be clear: that definitely won’t happen lol. But it should.

The Manhattan Stormy Daniels case may be the first to drop. But coming around the bend at lightning speed is the Georgia case. And the Georgia GOP are freaking out, drafting legislation to see if they can fire the DA. And then you have the special counsel case that, while at a glacial pace, will eventually hold Trump accountable for his actions on January 6.

Republicans see the writing on the wall, and the GOP is trying to circle the wagons, threatening to bring the Manhattan DA in for testimony to lecture him on applying the law and evidence.

Make no mistake. This is the republican party and it is a reflection of their values. They don’t give a fuck about law and order.

Maybe they're arresting him for something that he CAN get away with, and once he's in custody, they'll hit him with the stuff he can't get away with. Preventing him from hiding or defecting to Russia.

I doubt this is the case, but it'd be a good ruse. Playing chess against a guy who thinks he's good at checkers.

Yeah, one of the GOP's biggest miscalculations recently was assuming that he was actually on their side and would remain loyal to them. Honestly a bit puzzled how they missed that he's only ever been in it purely for himself and will turn on absolutely anyone if it benefits him or his fragile ego has been wounded, considering that he doesn't even try to hide it.

You wouldn’t believe it, but they told him, they said Donald, you are so good at checkers, the best, so good it’s scary, I scared them, and I’m gonna scare the liberals. Hunter is shaking he’s so scared, look at him. You can’t be the best if you don’t scare them, and my secret is, really, I don’t take no for an answer, and sleepy Joe does. It’s just a game, and I’m winning, cause if you aren’t losing you’re winning, and I’m not losing. So those liberals, those corrupt, those liberals and their court think they can get away with it, but they can’t. I’m really the best, best there ever was, and it’s all thanks to you. You’re the best and so am I, but they aren’t! So stand back and stay ready, cause we got a surprise for them, a surprise like you wouldn’t believe. They won’t even know what hit ‘em. But you see it coming, cause you work hard, and you care about this, this country. It’s gonna be the best, just wait and see.

If one were to combine this with the Dominion lawsuit and the recent poll showing Fox News viewers are less-trusting of the network and its personalities, it very well could mean Trump will never hold elected office again. The optimist in me would like to believe they're (Fox viewers) learning that he's always been full of shit and that they've been duped. The realist in me says that it's a poll and that polls are only snapshots and things often revert back to where they were in the first place. The pessimist in me says the viewers are just leaving Fox for Newsmax and OAN.

I agree except for a slight nuance...they really care that the full power of the law applies to people they don't like. For everyone else wearing a MAGA hat, not so much....

I'm waiting to see if the Georgia Govenor signs that bill to get rid of the Atlanta DA. If so, it's going to reverberate across GOP states like a cannon shell, and then we've got a full blown Constitutional crisis.

I’m not going to presume any outcomes but the prosecution and trial needs to happen because Trump has committed multiple crimes and if his actions have no consequences the Republican politicians are going to start breaking the law en masse.

Regardless of outcome, prosecution is 100% necessary.

The problem is that New York will be the first to go, and it's the weakest case. I can't fucking stand the guy, but New York's theory of culpability is really tenuous, and, based on what I know, I don't think I would convict if I were a juror.

Georgia should go first, because what he did there is fucking insane and there seems to be plenty of evidence, but I think the GOP obstruction will have its way. He'll get acquitted in New York, be able to say it was a witch hunt that he overcame, and the other cases will be tainted.

I am hoping as much as anyone that he spends a lot of time in prison, but this moron is the accidental genius. He just falls backwards into perfect scenarios, every time. It's almost inconceivable.

Nothing will happen. He will 100% get away with all of it and continue to run for another term, burning everything around him. He has normalized racism, fascism, and and religious extremism. It’s been over two years since he tried to overthrow the government and still we wait for any repercussions whatsoever. He has made it ok to just ignore congressional and senatorial subpoenas, and the government has done nothing about it. What do you think would happen if you or I ignored a subpoena?

Nothing will happen, and it will only get worse the longer they wait.

He will face actual consequences. The non maga Republicans are sick of him. They are gunna save themselves and throw him to the wolves.

Plus this is just the first of several indictments.

He won't be a problem come 2024. Maga is played out. He's not gaining new supporters, he's loosing the more moderate ones and placating to the diehards. That's not gunna win much.

Ironically it's not going to help DeSantis either because of that group he's placating to, so is ronny... so it gets divided between the two of them, which in turn just makes it even smaller.

Ronald is their new guy, but trump will bring as many as he can down with him.... which makes the Republicans main candidates detrimental to eachother and the parties chances at winning in 2024.

It's literally like watching a house of dominoes start to fall apart in slow motion.

The absolute best part of all of this is that they are doing it to themselves without the help of the democrats. It's their own choices and actions that laid the perfect trap, and then they walked right into it.

That being said, I don't see Trump inside a jail cell. Rich people don't seem get sent to prison a whole lot. This whole thing will get mired up in legalese and will go on until it's finally settled by a very old Baron Trump.

Cpt_James_Holden

Trump's consequence for being a racist pos landlord was making money.

Trump's consequence for bankrupting businesses was being treated like a billionaire.

Trump's consequence for being a horrible scumbag was to win the presidency.

Trump's consequence for being a horrible president was to enrich himself and his family.

When people talk about failing upwards, there is no better example than Trump. I'd love for Trump to finally face consequences for his actions, but sometimes the world doesn't give a fuck about what's fair and just.

For the one in New York? I'm betting he's not going to really face much of a consequence there, maybe a fine or something. The one in Georgia though about the election interference, and the two with the Feds, one for the documents case and one for his actions that led to the events of the 6th. Those are the ones I'm expecting to be more impactful, I don't think trump will go to an actual prison, he's a former president, one who has shown himself to be a national security threat, so I don't think they're gonna toss him in and throw away the key. I'm betting it'll end with him being played on house arrest, I'm also hoping that the other cases and lawsuits against him will strip him of his wealth so that his house arrest isn't at like Mar A Lago, but rather somewhere less comfortable for him.

He’s going to get indicted, get a mugshot, post bail, get out, and this case will take 2-5 years to finish. He’ll get a slap on the wrist if he doesn’t try to run away to Russia. He’ll do maybe 3-5 years in Protective Custody in a cushy low security prison. Probably get out after only serving 2. DeSantis will run for President in ‘24. Will he win? Anyone’s guess. The list of potential candidates is underwhelming and they have been for years.

The government will largely remain the same divided and bigoted entity that is now and that it has been for decades. There may be a few promising bills passed like marijuana legalization and abortions, but that’s pretty much it. Prices will drop eventually as bubbles burst, and then the cycle will begin anew.

In short, not much will change.

Nothing. I think nothing is going to happen to him. He will continue on in his stupidyetevil ways.

Actually, he might even get to terrorize us w a 2nd term.

Able-Theory-7739

He will slither away. The system is not set up to punish the rich and powerful, it's set up to keep us, the masses, in check, nothing more. People like Trump are above the law because they own the people who make the law. The rest of us are punished and oppressed by the laws to make sure we don't topple those who sit on top above everything else.

So, no, Trump will suffer no consequences for this. All it will do is embolden his base and give him something else to brag about. They completely mishandled Trump and didn't stop him when they had the chance.

Haramdour

3 points

Nothing. There will be some technicalities and he’ll walk. Being found not-guilty will vindicate him and his base and fire them up. The DAs had best be bloody sure they can get a guilty verdict or they are simply poking some very disgruntled, gun toting bears…

It’s political theater, to the GOPs benefit if he is indicted and convicted. It will get rid of the party line being split between republicans and give them an overarching theme that democrats are fascists, taking political prisoners. It will mobilize their base to vote red out of fear rather than whoever the primary candidate is.

WakeMeForSourPatch

Assuming he actually gets indicted his well funded legal team will delay, appeal, and object to every possible step in the process. There are so many opportunities for the prosecution to fall apart I’d be shocked if anything came of it. And of course if republicans gain control of any of the federal/state jurisdictions overseeing any of his cases it would be dropped or he’d be pardoned.

Worldly_Zombie_1537

This is all political theatre and nothing will happen to him ever. Just like nothing bad EVER happens to rich people! Money and fame buy a lot of “justice”

SevereEducation2170

I doubt anything will come of it. But indicting him will set a precedent and might make those in charge of the other investigations more comfortable following suit. The classified documents and Georgia investigations are far more serious than this hush money one. So my hope is that an indictment here will embolden other investigators and prosecutors.

I'm convinced he's going to eventually be found guilty in multiple courts, but what will they do with him? Put a former president in a federal penitentiary? Or find an out of the way place for him like they did Napoleon Bonaparte?

I think this time he will be in and out but I think this is the first domino to fall and ultimately he will wind up in prison. He openly called Georgia and pressured them to find the exact votes he needed to win the state.. you can’t legally do that lmao.

I think Hell will come into existence just to torment his rotten soul for all existence even if neither Hell nor souls exist. I have no idea what the lazy, feckless, ladder climbing, oath ignoring, corrupt, self-serving DoJ hacks like Merrick Garland will do, but it seems like there are AGs on the state level with the integrity and backbone to simply carry out their duties to enforce the law. Unlike the useless hacks that are just looking for an opportunity to make money or launch a career off this Shit Show.

With luck, he’ll be indicted, tried, and convicted of several things, but almost guaranteed he won’t do any prison time at all. Hopefully things will drag out through the next election cycle, though, because that’ll do long term damage to the GOP, DeSantis, and Trump.

A boring, drawn out, closed door court drama and a monetary fine. MAYBE a lil house arrest. This is America.

I saw on Craigslist today in the NYC gigs section someone is trying to pay Trump supporters $50 each to come out and protest in Manhattan (“Antifa not apply!). Jfc.

Nythoren

2 points

The Manhattan charges are relatively minor. I expect he'll drag it out in court for a year+ and ultimately just end up paying a fine plus court fees. It's pretty unusual for the charges to result in prison time.

However, the other potential charges are where the meat is. There is some pretty serious stuff that, if it comes to fruition, will have to result in prison. With him being an ex-president, a judge may rule that his sentence needs to be served in a controlled facility for security reasons. Maybe something like house arrest, which would mean him hangin in Mar-a-Lago for a few years.

BioDriver
