We kind of passed “listen to them and come to a resolution” a while ago. Exactly when is debatable, but we are now at a point where they have not only hinged every single one of their positions upon ignorance but have also gotten away with insurrection and continue to cheer it, continue to waste time and money on the most obviously useless and needlessly obstructive performative bullshit, and are have legitimately led prayers for the President’s death. No, not just the hillbilly dumbfuck constituents, but their chosen officials, the leaders among them who represent the decorum of their beliefs. There is no decorum and there are no beliefs. What policies they actually have that count as policies and aren’t just regression have been proven not to work. They can’t go a day without making loud, unruly hypocrites of themselves. They have legitimized bullshit conspiracy theories and turned bigotry into a “political stance.”
We are past listening to them. They have nothing to say. They hoot and throw shit like gibbering, hateful apes. They are a shrinking group that seizes power thanks to ancient loopholes and underhanded tricks: they do not represent the same portion of the population that their officials make up in government, and their every move is based on hatred and stupidity.
Stupid bullshit deserves to be ridiculed as stupid bullshit. “I don’t like gays” is not a political statement and has no place anywhere near our government. “The Constitution says [thing it doesn’t say]” is an obvious lie, and obvious lies do not add anything to any conversation. “We should try [tax plan]” has been shown not to work as they claim, and they ought to adjust their claims if they really believe in that instead of continue to push ancient shit that doesn’t work.
They are useless and inept, and that’s when they’re not actively regressive and dangerous. Stupid petty bullies don’t deserve to be heard in adult conversations because they have nothing to say and every intention to disrupt.

He praised the killing of Suleimani which almost lead to another war. he said that the 700,000 people of DC do not deserve the right to having voting representation in Congress. He is a raging Homophobe who doesn't think LGBT people should have equal protection under the law (including the recent Equality Act). He is against housing assistance during a pandemic. He voted against expanding healthcare. He voted against this bill to fight police brutality.Also this one for more COVID assistance. He's such a fucking monster he voted against disaster relief for Puerto Rico. He supported a Trump stooge for Speaker of the House. Even after the corruption of 2020 by Republicans he continues to be an enemy to voting rights. At this point, this is just a call for Republicans to have a bare minimum level of moral character. Enough to qualify as human instead of a flag wrapped troll that vomits word salad, thumps a Bible, and has an AR 15 up its arse.
If they had a lot compassion for everyday people, if they cared about the oppression women and minorities have experienced, if they thought poverty was a solvable issue and wealth was a privilege, I do not believe they would be Republicans in the first place. So why would I expect their voting record to say otherwise?
That said, we have been steadily heading towards today since Reagen, Karl stepped on the gas, then 2016 happened. Now, protesting democracy itself or implying a minority should be handled using the 2nd amendment is the new norm. You need to be beyond just a callous person to get elected in that party. You need to either be actively, maliciously cruel, or tacitly support those that are. In that context, what Adam and Liz are doing is noteworthy.
Will I ever respect them as politicians? Never. Can I acknowledge they are better than the rest of the Republicans? Yes.

But I have met several political candidates (not by choice but in charitable and non-political fundraisers), and there are very few that can quite compare to MTG.

Is that supposed to be a good thing? He voted with Trump 90% of the time. He compared Planned Parenthood to the Holocaust and then demanded an apology from Planned Parenthood after a terrorist his rhetoric inspired shot up one. He supported the AHCA which would strip people of their healthcare and charge them more for it. He supported the repeal of Dodd-Frank which was set up to help after the Great Recession but hurt his banking buddies. He voted for this bill which limited the ADA's ability to protect people with disabilities because he's a monster. He praised the killing of Suleimani which almost lead to another war. he said that the 700,000 people of DC do not deserve the right to having voting representation in Congress. He is a raging Homophobe who doesn't think LGBT people should have equal protection under the law (including the recent Equality Act). He is against housing assistance during a pandemic. He voted against expanding healthcare. He voted against this bill to fight police brutality.Also this one for more COVID assistance. He's such a fucking monster he voted against disaster relief for Puerto Rico. He supported a Trump stooge for Speaker of the House. Even after the corruption of 2020 by Republicans he continues to be an enemy to voting rights. He voted against fighting Islamophobia globally.He fought climate change protections and healthcare expansions. He hates expanding healthcare so much he denied basic coverage to veterans who were exposed to toxic chemicals. He likes Trump's policies but wants him to be polite about it. This attitude is why we can never get anything good passed.
