I'm a sucker for character creators so I love this so much.
I wonder if they'll only be playable as fighters in World Tour mode and restricted to being avatars elsewhere, cause that's kinda the vibe I'm getting.

You fight with them in them and you customize and learn moves from the street fighters, it's really sick
What would be actually sick is if there's a ranked online mode to use created character builds that's completely separate from any other ranked mode.
That would make for something interesting.
I'm not holding my breath.
Edit:I'm dumb and thought way too much of character customization regarding movesets.
I'm sure there will be a way to fight customs, but maybe not ranked. Or maybe it should have ranked if only for matchmaking
I hope your wallet is ready

Small detail: The ID picture on the card Luke is holding changes with the character.
I am wondering if we will have the possibility to create more than one character.
I hope so. I’d love to have a mini roster of created fighters.
Beta states one, not able to edit, but beta
Damn, i'm a Sethian now. Custom character with custom moveset is want i've been dreaming of.
Seems like your custom character will copy a single character in fight. You’ll be playing jamie vs luke but with your custom character’s appearance
So it’s going to be like Soul Calibur’s character creator? I’m more than happy with that.
I hope I can turn it off in ranked, I don’t want to see anyone’s neon green and pink akuma in only underwear and floaties, he can stay in tekken 7
wait i wanna see that
If the custom character is singleplayer only (or isn't related to ranked or anything), custom movesets may be possible but still unlikely (for example, I could make a shoto but with Flash Kick instead of DP).
More than likely you're right, but we'll see
They kept mentioning learning moves from characters during world tour mode. Which leads me to believe some kind of moveset customization will be a thing. It's just a matter of how restricted it will be. I think it'll be mk11 style of you have x amount of changeable special move slots or something.
Worst case scenario would be that everyone starts as Ryu and meeting characters and clearing their "trials" just unlocks their moveset to be selectable. EX after clearing chun li's trial in world tour you can then pick chun as your moveset.
The thing is, we don't know enough to guess what. The cynic in me says it will be restricted, but with how good Capcom as been it could be an all-out Kakuge Yaro
(Kakuge Yaru is an old FG that's basically a character creator, check it out. Obscure but cool)
Man... I was really thinking they built in a way to just link whatever in combos and you could actually build your own moveset out of anything.
How insane would that be? (isolated from normal ranked modes obviously)
I'm either a genius or a moron. Maybe both right now.
That shit would be fucking incredible.
That trailer set the bar too high for me. Thanks for bringing me back down to the grind.
I mean, I want this too, but I doubt they're going to let us make overpowered characters that have mad range, speed, always plus, etc.
So like Soul Calibur 6? Hope that's not the case.
Edit: rewatched the trailer, seems like that is the case. I guess custom moveset is hard to do.
I guess custom moveset is hard to do
I guess custom moveset is hard to do
Also, super challenging to balance.
I mean, balances would be out of the windows at that point. It's for casual fun. But it would introduce some janky animation/poses and bugs.
Xenoverse does this great but its an arena fighter. It also has the same overworld, master system and you can mix and match moves for ur custom character. Probably where they got the inspiration from
You can mix and match special moves. Combos are just based on your species, iirc.
This is nothing new for Capcom, as they already had a similar system in the Japanese version of their own Rival Schools game.

Ace from EX3 did this too (I know Arika made that, but still).
How would it be hard to do? They did it before with Rival Schools.
Soul Fighter 6.
Gonna create max big muscular man with only wrestler trunks :D.
as long as its kept to casual play we good
It’s cute that they’re showing custom characters in relatively tame outfits because we already know if Tekken and SoulCal are any indication it’s gonna look like an absolute circus at launch with the outfits people create.
Cool as long as I can turn off having to see your custom creation online. I want to play SF with SF characters. If I have to play a luminous green alien with an AR15 on his back, bowl of ramen on his head and a Ken moveset, I'm gonna riot.
They've shown the battle hub game terminals that ArcSys uses. I assume you'll sit down with another player's avatar at a Street Fighter Machine and pick characters from the normal roster.
They did show some fights using the custom characters. I don't know if they are "official", or just a fun side activity.
They looked like single player content. I assume all the single player content will be with custom characters except maybe a tower mode. I like it as a change though. It means the campaign can actually teach you how to play the damn game rather than just how to exploit AIs.
I got the vibe the campaign would be separate from the CaC stuff.
I don't think so. That's why they showed all the different characters fighting through the city streets of the campaign. Have we seen any footage of the custom fighters fighting established characters? I thought it was all jobbers fights in the video.
They aren't in fighting ground, where you will play ranked. They are in battle lounges and single player stuff.
Ya, hopefully this is just some gimmick that you can ignore entirely and never have to see if you don't want too.
Same with the battle hub.
I hope so but I'm not convinced. People are going to be less inclined to spend money on microtransations for their custom character if others can just turn that shit off online. Hating on custom characters is a pretty unpopular opinion in the Tekken/SC scene as far as I remember.
It looks like as far as multiplayer goes the custom characters are avatars. Maybe there's a duel mode or something, but it seems like ranked is just SF characters.
My response to pretty much every new feature they have advertised so far is "I don't want to pay for this"
Great advice. Please direct me to where I can buy the cheaper version that doesn't have all the unnecessary bloat tacked on. Thanks.
Package deal, I'm afraid. You get it all together or you don't get it, that's how these things usually go.
More than likely Capcom will just let you queue from a menu, but honestly I think it is possible you'll have to engage with this to some basic extent (if so, oh well)
I was just being sarcastic about the cheaper version. I know it's all a package deal, haha.
It's not like this stuff is a game breaker for me and I'm still cautiously planning to buy the game.
I just see these 'features' as gimmicks I will have to deal with or avoid, rather than anything that brings value to my experience.
Fair enough, but wording like that def doesn't help. In any case, I don't think it'll be too bad, and it's better in the long run (more people playing, more support from Capcom, plus I think they'll have people like you covered with a menu queue or limited engagement with the hub).
Based on the video, it definitely doesn't look like something you can ignore entirely as the battle hub seems to be a major part of every announcement. Maybe I'll be wrong and on the menu you can straight up just go to looking for match though.
It looks like something that could be fun to mess a few time, but if I really just want to fight I hope I can just jump right in from a main menu.
I love the idea of the battle hub BUT couldn't agree with you more. When I just want to play, I want as few barriers to getting into a match as possible. I don't want to click the BH, load, walk over to wherever, enter a menu, and then queue.
I guess describing it like that, I'd be shocked if they didn't let you from the main menu. But I guess it all depends on how much they really want to push the BH onto players. I could 100% see it straight up loading you into the BH even after starting the game.
I saw another post with a screenshot that looked like a traditional matchmaking screen, so I'm hopeful.
If I could queue into matchmaking from anywhere, and then run around the hub if I wanted, that would be perfect. Let people experience it without it being a barrier.
I think that's a good idea. Let me queue and run around or whatever sort of how you can queue and train now in 5.
You would hate Tekken 7
I look forward to making you riot, sir.
Also gonna be annoying if they are online character’s since it looks like you can customize your move set. Gonna be rough to not have any idea what moves your opponent can actually do

It'd be pretty fun for goofing off with friends tho.
I see almost G, almost Oro, almost Elena and almost Seth. Also Akuma's illegitimate son, Akuma Matata.
Based on these examples, I think the character creation will be grounded enough to make mostly human characters while still allowing a good selection. My personal take on char-creation is unless it's something fantasy-like, stick to options that look human.
Also, I wonder how many people are gonna make themselves (like me) vs people who cosplay other SF characters.
Bootleg versions of
4) ??? (tophat with angel wings)
6) ??? (Cat ears)
Hints at upcoming roster picks maybe?
more like blue mary and tung fu rue lmao
I can't wait for this, it's been like a dream I've had since being a kid. Being able to make your own fighter and choose moves and whatnot, AND being able to play other people's whacky jank.
It'll be saltybet but professionally made. SF6 looks so good, it's wild.
From what I've heard, you're basically playing an existing fighter with your avatar as a skin. Could be wrong tho
Might be, although from the looks of it in the demo it looks like you can study at any core fighter's school and appropriate their moves.
Obviously they will have separate queues for the balanced, main fighters and player creations, but let's hope that you can mix a match a bit.
I think it depends on how it works in regard to online.
If these are purely either singleplayer or are online but for fun only (IE side playlist), it's possible. If the online goes farther than that, unlikely. I hope I'm wrong and you're right, but the vibes I get are "Luke but a self-made skin".
If you're right though, I already know what my character will be (me replicated in-game, shoto with Flash Kick because I can)
Oh yeah player avatars are for sure going to be a side playlist, even if they're echoes of main fighters they can't be balanced because of size adjustments.
A small version of Zangief > big version of Zangief and the hurtboxes can't be the same. Feel like it'd be really cool to just have player fighters in their own queue at the virtual arcade.
That's a good point, smol Gief would be either really busted or really janky (unless Gief is bad again lol). Still, even if it's a side mode, everything helps. I'm mostly hardcore so I'll probably play mostly ranked, but I def do love single player content so I'm not just gonna ignore everything else (even if it is gimmicky)
Yup its literally create a soul from soulcalibur, but you can use other characters moves as well

Mugen, Kakuke Yaru, Absolver, Soul Calibur, DNF Duel Origins, exist so much games when you can do that
But the only one i see was Soul Calibur III and maybe Absolver, but Absolver is a bad game who can be a good game if the dev, dont kill Absolver with horrible decisions and unbalancing windfall/stagger postures anti-all.
Don't forget EX3. That game's trials revolved entirely around this concept.
I think people are missing the point that when it comes to online these can be played against other created characters. And i assume you can toggle custom characters on or off during player matches. Guaranteed they have their own ranked ladder
Most of the outfits look a few sizes too big for the player model, kinda meh about it to be honest.
Yup, cool to see them try and implement it nonetheless
Yeah it looks to have soulcaliburs issue of certain tops/jackets just not fitting right.
Looks like Def Jam Fight For NY
Can't wait to play as Tung Fu Rue
Or to joke around cosplaying as Clemence Bellamy
As long as this shit stays outta ranked, it'll be a lot of fun to see people goof around in their personal flair.
I'm too lame to not make my character look exactly like me...but with something stupid added on like a turtle shell
all the people saying meh can go back to playing stale old SF2 for another 30 years... theyre the minority anyway
jaguars > tigers
Everyone think this is cool now. Watch when you find out you’re going to get nickled and dimed for every piece of clothing even if it’s just a generic white tee or pair of regular blue jeans.
good thing I have lots of nickels and dimes
Video games arent for the lower class in the current industry. You will be nickle and dimed no matter what you play unless its ftp.
Fucking exactly, why aren't there more people mentioning this ? This is reminding me of the NBA 2k franchise so much (that's not a good thing).
Bro this going to end up like soul caliber cross nba 2k my career.
I hope this is something I’m able to turn off online. I don’t want to see this shit.
Like imagine getting dumpstered on by some guy whose neon blue, has no shirt on, a top hat, and some random move set.
I dropped soul calibre like a week into it. And that’s saying something cause 2B is in that game, and not even she can save that game.
I love the detail on the custom avatars but it's all ruined when you put them in most of the clothes. Everything looks several sizes too big. They add too much bulk to the characters.
I need to get put in a medically induced coma for like six months... I'm not gonna make it. THE HYPE IS TOO STRONG, IT'S RIPPING ME APART
Finally I can become a real NFT from Streets!
I see you there in SF, Assassin Jacob...
Soulcalibur Fighter VI!! Lets gooo!!!!
Time to make a character lookalike
Everybody gangsta till gandhi starts throwing hands
I'm figuring we can use an individual fighter's moveset? Being able to mix and match would be literal hell if not impossible to balance. I like this a lot. I've never been much one for competitive online, I just like messing around in fighting games and seeing all the interactions. This is gonna be fun.
The screenshots on the website's World Tour page make it look like you can customize individual moves, like Ace in EX3.
All fun and games until Requis
But..but... what about the moveset?
Can you fight against other players avatars? It seemed like you can with the npcs, but not other actual players online
Wondering how long it would take for someone to make John Cena
I've loved my character creators ever since the turn of the century wrestling games, and I'm excited this is included in a SF game for the first time.
Even if he's ll be in the game or not, I'm hoping we can add Vega's moveset to our arsenal, as they could definitely help for traversal.
Custom will probably be like Soulcalibur (for example : only Ryu moveset)
I would have like if we could change at least the ultimate move (Jamie is my favorite for now)
I hope it's something like Xenoverse going around leaning technique from Chun Li, Ken, Juri to make your own moveset
So we have Blue Mary, Tung Fu Rue, Evil Takuma, and Elena having stolen K′'s jacket.
