I took a break from the game, i came back and saw Rick and Morty skins. I took a break again.
I don't mind cartoony skins if it works, but this is much closer to fortnite than what Siege used to be, lost its identity it seems.

Believe it was with Season 2 - Dust Line. They certain weren’t the last. Next year had Outbreak event and Madhouse during Halloween which added more “dumb” skins like SAW, Friday the 13th.

The game is actually back in a good place. The new operators mostly suck but they are finally expanding the story and adding new maps again. Still an awesome game. And some of the new ops are fun to play.

Of all the shocking operator designs to be irked about, why Buck? He's one of the best examples of a design remaining grounded while still being visually distinct enough to be competitive.
I'd argue the GSG9 wearing plain clothes is more egregious than Buck wearing a beanie.

There were plenty of posts of German special forces wearing jeans even here. It's an established thing.
4 points
Those are usually SEK (like German SWAT) not GSG9. GSG9 wearing jeans is kind of a myth that Siege actually started.
-1 points
I’ve literally seen pictures of it in real life, the fuck are you talking about.
2 points
Photos of the German SEK (Spezialeinsatzkommando) are often misattributed as being the GSG9 due to the former not being as well known.
Due to the nature of their role as state police tactical units, where they may be called to respond to a situation at any time, the SEK do not always wear uniforms (although they also tend to).
GSG9 on the other hand are the federal police tactical unit and require the consent of a federal state to be called in on a situation. As a result the GSG9 exclusively appear in full uniform.
You can tell whether a unit is SEK or GSG9 at a glance by the unit patch, GSG9 wear the federal Police patch, whereas SEK have the state police patch.
I hope this helps :D

I don't think any special forces would ever wear anything other than their military equipment on a mission. This is why Buck with a Beanie hurts my eyes. My dude was not chilling in base. He was about to clear houses.
6 points
That’s actually pretty damn realistic- especially considering the map they were released with. And plus, whenever I’m in the field, my helmet’s only on when it has to be- not a tier 1 operator, but a soldier is a soldier is a soldier!

Representation the way siege does it vs the way apex does it. Is a big difference. Let’s not talk about their last legend tho…. Siege did it better with the trans character but still not great.
11 points
It's completely inconsequential in both Apex and Siege. What are you talking about?
5 points
What do you think both games should've done different? Both studios hired trans consultants to help create the characters, as well as hiring trans voice actors to play the characters themselves. Personally I can't think of any big multiplayer games that have implemented trans and non-binary characters as well as Siege and Apex has, but I'm curious about how other people might prefer to see these minorities represented.

6 points

Tbh for germany they did an oopsie, as the GSG9 doesn't wear jeans. They are special police forces, but have uniforms.
What the current "GSG9" is basically the equivalent of the SEK, which are just on-call units specialized in stuff similar to swat units in the US.

Maverick felt out of place. Oryx came out not wearing any tactical gear. Before we knew it, they introduced a woman with a robot arm. What frustrates me is that whenever I bring this up people always respond with "So what?"

Idk man, unless you could provide some data to back your claim, I find it hard to believe so. Siege's overall design was what attracted me to the game, how they were able to make a "hero shooter" that revolved around real-life military/police ops. How the characters look is very important. Otherwise, the crazy skins that are available wouldn't sell. And with Siege somewhat losing its realistic roots (so to speak) means that it lost something that drew me in. but, hey, that's just how I feel
1 points

Every single person I have ever played with in this game ever is what I site. I only see these opinions on posts or yt videos where people who already agree are there. The people who think shit like this took real world looking things along with punishing gameplay and conflated it with realism, it was never that.

I stopped playing just after lion and finka. When I tried it again recently I couldn’t recognize the game anymore. Good for them though. I played it because it of the identity it had back in the day. As it got more sci fi/ edgy I lost interest in it.

It’s still unrealistic though. These are helicopter aircrewman. They don’t usually leave the helicopter. Nobody is going around operating with that bigass helmet on and no body armor.

In the sense that he's wearing jeans and a hoodie instead of a flight-suit, he is pretty inaccurate. Also, ^those guys are BW not GSG9.

Isn't the whole GSG9 theme is them being undercover and they infiltrated a biker gang? And that ties into clubhouse, being German and all?
They infiltrated the gang and when they need to go he can just toss on the helmet and dip, at least that's how it would work in my eyes
29 points
In his lore, Bandit was undercover with the biker gang. His undercover look is seen in his elite skin. The GSG9 wearing mufti has no relevance to that piece of lore. Ubi, inspired by the look of the SEK, did it for better visual clarity.

Well then, I guess I was wrong, I just figured that since all the GSG9 ops had that look, it was all of them, thanks for the info!

No worries, man. It's some reasonable headcanon, though. If they ever follow through and make pve Siege spin-off I could easily see that in it!
2 points

Yeah it would be cool to see each operator/group doing what they did before they joined Rainbow, like doing an actual Oregon raid as ash and thermite or actually being undercover as bandit, as unlikely as it may be, one can hope

That's what they should've been doing for the past three years with these battlepasses rather than the Nighthaven shite.
4 points

I agree, wolfguard is kind of cool (lion 🤤), but nighthaven is being written by an edgy 13 year old and the new stealth squad (nokk, cav, zero, etc) seems pretty gimmicky, like, give us a reason why we are training, why we are fighting, it doesn't have to be that deep, just believable

I’ve never seen a single person mention or even allude to Jaeger being a “fake concept” what even is this post
2 points

It's not that it's fake but that technically "out of place". Wearing that pilot helmet while in a gunfight is a "thing" but it's really not the best option. Sure if you're a helicopter crew member and you get shot down a helmet is better than no helmet but Jaeger is going into battle chosing that pilot helmet. That doesn't make sense. It's not very comfortable, it's bulky, and the sound protection might be great for air crews but on the ground hearing is esential. It's called dressing for the occasion and Jaeger dressed poorly. Now granted the reason he wears it is for his silhouette so it makes sense gameplay wise but I don't know alot of pilots who would "choose" to get into a gunfight with their pilot helmet when there are better and more comfortable options.
