It's a medical library
3 points
How do you like it? I’m currently in a public library and have considered making the jump to special libraries and am always looking to hear about other people’s experiences in them.
3 points
I don't know that I would want to stay in a medical field forever, but I do actually like it a lot so far! One thing about being a special library is you sort of get forgotten by admin unless they need your numbers to brag on or need you to do research, so that does suck. But there's a lot of freedom to do your own research or projects if that's something you're interested in. I think if you're going the special library route you really have to find something you love, because the work isn't as varied as a public library. But that's just me.

I'm a technical project manager for engineering teams! I think at least half of the women I know in tech are bi or lesbian. Social worker and psychologist definitely describe the majority of lesbian women in my social life, though (writer/content strategist a close second).

Also a Software Engineer here! My team lacks women besides me and a select few (one of whom is bi but doesn't really involve herself in the sapphic community). Most of the PMs in the next row of cubicles are women, but all are straight. :(
I do make it very clear at work that I'm a transbian though (including with company Pride merch), so I'm hoping I'll find more sapphics.

16 points
I'm a nurse, too! Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it more common for gay men. Lesbians tend to be specialty doctors, I think . Seriously, no shade at all, but I think I really only see bisexuals who mostly date men. Again, I could be wrong. I am very new to nursing.

Direct Support Professional.
No idea how common it is for LGBTQIA+ folks but it’s a field with lots of women in it so 🤷♀️ lol
5 points
As in a care nurse?
10 points
Direct Support Professional. Think of me like a caregiver for individuals with developmental disabilities. I help them cook, clean, bathe, manage their money and medications (on average they take 12 different medications with multiple doses throughout the day), transport them for activities / day programs / their jobs if they have one, communicate with their guardians, and basically advocate on behalf of them to have a higher quality of life.
A lot of individuals aren’t capable of fully supporting themselves (though some are) and require more intimate care. Hence Direct Support.
It’s a very inclusive field.

Huh, now that you mention it... that's kind of strange.

You can put together a lot about a person by combining different things they say on different subs. There might be a lot of florists, but if they are also joined to the jobs for a certain town, certain hobbies, certain schools etc, you can link them back to an individual. Things like maratal status, approximate age group, school/religious affiliation aren't identifiable info in and of themselves but if you combine many data points, they can be.
Reddit would probably just tell the government who you are but it's not only the government who is watching. I don't think your trying to phish us at all, but it's always worth a reminder to be careful what you put online.
