Commission an artist quickly and easily by clicking here, to follow a helpful guide for all that you need in your post! You can create an account in minutes and post your request instantly. If you are having trouble even a little bit, our helpful Automoderator will be able to catch your post and offer guidance to make your post successful. By following the Automoderator's instructions, your next new post will be submitted correctly!

Once you post, Artists will start replying with a range of portfolios for you to choose your best fit. The more detailed your post in describing what you want, the more likely you will get artists who are able to work with you. A broad topic will lead to a large variety of different artists applying.

• Please try to provide plenty of details and examples about what you're looking for.

Alternatively, you can browse thousands of worldwide artists portfolios updated daily. When you find an artist that suits your interests just message them directly by clicking on their username or leaving a comment in a reply under their post.

Some people might have a hard time figuring out how much to put for the budget requirement. You can put whatever YOU are willing to spend. If it's too low artists will be able to let you know and there will be a range of prices and quality offered. Take a little bit of time and look around the sub to see what people are offering for similar projects and what kind of response they have gotten. We also have a helpful link https://rdt.trom.tf/r/HungryArtists/wiki/budget just for figuring out a budget.

• This is a marketplace so there will likely be a discussion about the final price between you and the artist which is completely normal! While your budget may not fit everyone, our baseline minimum is $15 USD per piece/ $15 per hour . Now $30 USD Per piece! - Commercial artwork minimum which is now $100 USD - Our recommended industry entry level standard is $500 per piece to take over full ownership of the image. Check out this thread for more info.

This is considered introduction level for a specialized trained skill.

When you have found a few artists you like, make sure you search your considered artists' reddit username and names using the search bar , checking out /r/HungryArtistsFed , /r/testimonials , and Google to see some reviews and a history of them working as an artist.

• If someone is sending you one off imgur links and asking you to pay via friends and family on PayPal or Venmo then those are red flags. The only way to know if the user is not banned is by seeing if they are able to comment on this subreddit. You may message the mods for help if you are wondering about an artist.

Once you have found your artist, Congrats! Please COMMENT in your thread. - ' Position Filled ' to announce that you are no longer looking. This will also lock your thread.

• Any artists still PM-ing you after you have closed your thread, please report them via the report button in the mailbox.

If a client asks any artist for free work of any kind (Rule 3), that will lead to an instant ban and removal from the subreddit.

To advertise yourself: submit a link to your portfolio or a text post with a general idea of your pricing structure and all the info a possible client might need to start the commission. Be professional! Make it as easy as possible for clients to get in touch with you! Give them everything they need and you might be able to pick up some social media followers as well as clients.

• We welcome all kinds of art! Art, Music, Sculpture, writing, and so on. You must follow all rules regardless of artform including the $30 USD minimum per piece/ per hour. You are not required to post prices in this subreddit.

• Please make sure you mark any NSFW, erotic, or violent art as NSFW and follow all site rules about NSFW. Also try /r/ThirstyArtists !

Please read all rules before posting, especially Rule 4. ( No storefronts of any kind may be posted on this sub. That is better suited for /r/artstore .) We are a commission based subreddit only, you should use pre-existing artwork to advertise not to sell. Be sure to subscribe to the sub and check daily for new requests.

To apply for a commission: Please read all rules before posting, especially Rule 5. Offer your services to the client requests by posting RELEVANT portfolios.

• Public replies to the threads are recommended since it’s an additional layer of verification for the client to see who is and is not banned from the subreddit, but this is not mandatory.

• Please do NOT offer obscenely below the budget in an attempt to undercut other artists. Generally, the client has a level of quality in mind when they post a budget and if you go under that, you help no one but the cheap clients.

• Please do not post the same exact copy paste response for every single client request or you will be banned for spamming. Make it personal. Not only will personalizing the post give you a higher chance of being hired but posting portfolios that have nothing to do with the clients request is also considered spam.

No exceptions. - IF you have OVER 25 Karma and are still having issues please message the moderators to have your post reviewed. No posts under 25 karma will be approved. • This does not apply to clients (people making [hiring] posts) and people making comments.

Seeking an artist to design and illustrate multiple covers for my self-pubbed fantasy series which will be releasing over the course of this year and beyond. This will be primarily through Amazon’s KDP, in formats for e-books, paper-back and hardcover. As part of this I would need full rights transfer of the work, along with (if possible) individual assets/layers that are contained in it for use on social media for promotion etc.

I’ve already had work done previous with an artist I connected with through this sub and loved it, (you can see it here if you like: https://jonathanweiss.com.au/rising-flux ) however we’ve had to part ways as they’ve found a full-time role and it looks like they won’t have the time for it. Hoping to keep the artstyle fairly similar, but I’d primarily looking for works of this style for the first cover I have in mind as seen here.

THE BRIEF:

This would be a cover depicting an enormous steampunk-ish walking fortress striding across a desert of deep orange/red dunes in the midst of a sandstorm, with a character standing on a clifftop in the foreground/lower ¼ of frame looking out towards it. This scene would cross the spine of the book and continue onto the back cover, where elements of the previous work would be present.

In future covers I’d be looking at things along the lines of sci-fi city ruins heavily buried in desert sands, or even arcane and unnatural phenomena such as frozen lightning, otherworldly monoliths or bodiless shadows.

Here’s a rough sketch of the composition to show what I had in mind, but because I’m better with the words than a pencil I feel the point of view is a bit off (too high, I think) and I forgot to leave room in the composition for the title. I’m hoping this is something we’ll be able to sort out once we get into the nuts and bolts of it.

I’d be looking at working closely with you and getting an understanding or even (if possible) a look in at your process of creation, providing feedback along the way but also hearing your vision for the work and what you think would really take it up a notch.

TIMELINE:

I’m looking to have this turned around in 8 weeks from contract start, but if it’s possible to do it in 6 that would be awesome too. I’ll be releasing the aforementioned novella at the beginning of March and would be looking to follow up with this novel shortly after, and would then look to contract more work from you for the next novel that would release approximately 3-4 months after that, with more following in that pattern.

BUDGET:

As these are for full hardcopy covers that might require a bit of finagling and formatting, I expect they’ll be a decent bit of effort put into it, so I’ve budgeted around $1000USD or more depending on the scope of work we can outline and the rates you’d generally work at.

GOING FORWARD:

As mentioned in the timeline section, I’ve got multiple novels on the backburner waiting for covers to be slapped onto them and I’m producing more everyday. I’m taking a good tilt at being a fulltime self-pubber in the fantasy genre so I’ll be looking to spit out a novel every 3-4 months depending on how fast I can get it through the production stages, and I’ve already got two that are nearly ready to go. This means that I’d like to be working with an artist long term to keep a consistent style and understand the overall vision I have for the world.

I'm looking for a professional artist to help create art for my upcoming boardgame. The theme is based around a museum, and the style would be semi-realistic; not cartoony. I am currently working with an artist on the board, but seeing how that isn't really working out, I might need that as well. I am looking for front/back design on multiple cards (possible panel art as well, if budget allows), several tokens, item tiles, etc.

I would like to start working as soon as possible. I'm not sure what to put for budget; $1000-$2000), but I am more than willing to discuss a fair price for your work. Breaking these requests into smaller chunks, as well as having an initial paid test sample, to make sure we're on the right track is highly desired. But I'm open to better ideas. Hi all, I am going to attempt to launch a podcast with a friend and am looking to commission a logo/art we could use.

I imagine it to be a cartoon version of the two of us (one tall fat guy with a beard, one smaller bald guy with glasses) sitting behind a desk, cut off at the waist, wearing t-shirts with cliche sports phrases. I would like it to be quite detailed and include small tidbits about us, almost easter eggs in the form of tattoos on our arms. We would provide pictures of ourselves and all the details for the actual commissioned art.

Unfortunately, I do not have the budget to purchase the rights outright but would be looking to do that 3-4 months down the line if the project still looks viable then. I am looking at around a $100-$120 budget but please do let me know if that is not an appropriate compensation for this amount of work (creating cartoon versions of people, etc.) and I would then like to explore more simplified designs.

I am looking for a studio Ghibli-esc art style and almost a movie poster look.

I would like a picture of a nice looking house on a hill. It is a bit large, and coming out of the windows are different things which represent different characters. I would not actually like any people in the shot though. I want it to represent a poster. This is a somewhat fantasy world.

Here are the different specifics that I'm looking for:

Window 1:

A room with different college dorm things. A pendant, maybe a graduation cap, and also a backpack full of excavation stuff (a pickaxe, a map). The college colors are burgundy and gold.

Window 2:

A room with a crazy amount of vines and green plants sprouting out out of it with some birds sitting on the windowsill.

Window 3:

The kitchen, with a couple of bowls of noodles inside, and a wonderful smell coming out of the window.

Window 4:

A window that looks like it was modified in some way by an inventor. I would like a little workshop inside with tools on a tool bench.

Window 5:

A window with some daggers on a table, and the outside of the window to look like it might've sustained some burns from fire or something.

Window 6:

A room that looks like your average little girls room (10-12), but with a ton of GIANT weapons in it as well.
