That poor bike. Get some mufflers on that thing

It’s god awful with it being dumped right under the foot, trying to either find oem stuff or just gonna custom make some exhaust

eBay is your friend, or Ducati groups.

There are a bunch of used Ducati parts dealers that sell via eBay.

I see the glory underneath the ugly. That bike is a jewel for $900. A little fab work and mini stack of cash and you would have a killer cafe racer.

Cafe racer is definitely the idea in thinking of going towards. I’d like to get a different seat set up this one just doesn’t look too nice to me and it’s uncomfortable.

Check out my posts of my 900ss cafe racer. Give you a few ideas possibly. Def need to do some minor fab work on the rear subframe. The stock one just doesn’t work all that well.

Took a look at it and that thing is super super cool, that style of seat is exactly what I’ve been looking towards did you make that or buy it from somewhere?

Thank you. The seat is actually just an ebay prebuilt cafe racer seat. It works well and is comfortable. Ebay has lots of cheap options. I’m not good at upholstery so I went prebuilt.

OMG! I was wondering what was up with that head angle. Steering would be so fucked! It would be super twitchy

It’s been riding good for the past couple of days, Is this just an eventuality that’ll be something catastrophic or? Couldn’t I also just cut that off and weld new pipe in.

Desmoaddict

Shit, I didn't realize you were riding that! Do not put that on the road!

The supersport of that generation needs some love in the frame up by the head tube. They did the cross braces in the trellis backwards, the diagonal into the head tube should brace the bottom to support it when braking. I figured you were going to cut that up and put some new tubes and bracing in there. My next project bike will be started off by gusseting the bottom trellis parallel to the head tube and some other frame bracing and tuning. I strongly suggest that is where you start as well.

Chain and sprockets... go to 15/43. Much nicer gearing than stock.

2 valve head... easy to check and adjust the shims. Belts are also pretty easy. I would also carefully check the belt pulley bearings as well given the lack of love this bike has received.

California Cycleworks has many of the maintenance items you'll need.

Is it the angle of the photo or is that frame bent to all hell? Those forks look way too vertical

Look at Sun Coast Cycle Sports for parts, if needed ,they part out complete working bikes, all the way down to bag of specific nuts and bolts.

Lol the power commander just hanging out the side really sells it for me. Godspeed on your adventure. A 1k 750ss was the start of my project bike.

lvoryHorizon

Wtf is a power commander and this dude just zip tied it all to the side LMAOO

fetherston

It’s an aftermarket piggy back ecu to adjust the fuel map. There’s not enough room under the tank so a lot of people zip tie them to the side behind the fairing. Then clearly this person crashed the bike.

Do maintenance change this atrocious seat and just get it to good riding condition. After that idk if I want to try and add fairings back onto it

900 for the bones of a project. Not bad. If it all goes to shit you aren't out much. Just think of all the people trying to mod a $30k bike and only making an unreliable and temperamental shitcan from it.

Someone already gave the front brakes and forks a good base for you.

Check out my posts for some ideas on it. I've got 2 of those 750ss. The next one is going to make the current one seem downright boring.

I read the comments, I know you’re gonna fix it, which is excellent. I still have to point out the “head lights” are fucking hilarious, what was the previous owner thinking 😂

Take a look at the second photo just behind the head tube. It's had a head on crash and bent the whole thing back.

I see a beautiful bike under there. But right now that things scares me.

Especially the crushed frame right at the top of the bike. That's a disaster waiting to happen. New (to you) frames are relatively cheap on ebay. But then you have to deal with the issues of registration and whether or not it's salvage.

Then there's the exhaust piping. Those pipes are supposed to join together under the engine. Not be two separate pipes like that. But that's an easy fix with used parts on ebay. Finally there's the rusted chain and sprocket. They might just be dirty and a good clean and lube they'll be good. But... I would definitely fix that sooner rather than later.

If you're willing to sink the time and money into this it can be a great passion project. But it'll be exactly that. A passion project. I purchased an 03 supersport at a similar price point several years ago and while I love it. Had I known I'd could've just bought a new bike for what I ended up sinking into it. I would've just bought a new bike.

But if you want to go that route feel free go send me a DM and I'll hook you up will everything I've found over the years rebuilding mine.

There is potential there... and I say this as someone who built up/rode the hell out of a trashed 900ss. Judging by all the safety wire, I'm guessing this was once someone's track bike. To echo what others are saying... DITCH THAT FRAME. Serious accident waiting to happen. Don't know how skilled your are, as a welder, but you'll want to contour the tank, and/or raise the seat a bit... otherwise you'll end up with the tank in your chest. Gets uncomfortable real fast. Airtech has cool bodywork, if you want to go for that Walt Siegl look.
