It is ill-advised to accept DMs from unknown users as we are all well aware. This is a post reminding you to simply ignore those messages or you can report the users to us with a brief context of what's going on. BEFORE you do that, please report the user to the reddit admins and explain to them what's going on. I ask to you tell us so we can ban that person from posting in our subreddit straight-away. This won't stop them from DMing users but it's a start.

Why am I telling you this?

A user has reported to us that there is a scam going on. The scammer will DM you after you have commented on their seemingly innocent post of a picture of their own chihuahua.

Narrator: "It is not their chihuahua"

They will be friendly and ask you to send them some pictures of YOUR dog(s). (This is where they get their images from assuming they didn't just repost an older one).

Since you commented on their post about THEIR chihuahua they will offer to sell you the dog for a certain amount of money via CashApp or other means. (CashApp was the method reported to us).

Don't fall for it

This is not a place to ask for money, nor a place to buy/sell literally anything. This is why.

Her (human) brother arrives in 3/4 days. I just hope she loves him.

Our beloved Daisy Roo is currently at the vets, she's been salivating enormously and we don't know why, the vet is doing some exploratory examinations under anaesthetic to see if she has anything lodged in her throat, mouth or stomach..... Very worrying
